End of the day, lots of calories left
On Saturday and Sunday, I have a problem getting up to the amount of calories I'm supposed to be eating every day. I wake up very early for work (5:30), and am not hungry until close to 10:00, and then again close to 2:00. I get off work at 3, and get hungry again around 6, and go to bed early, around 9. By the time I get…

Running advice
I start every workout at the gym by running a mile an a half at 6 mph, then I walk about 10 minutes, then I go to hit the weights. I have heard around that it is better for fat loss not only to run before the weights so you can expend the bulk of your energy on cardio, but that it is also more effective to break your…

New crock pot - ideas?
I just bought a 1.5 qt crock pot so I can make my lunches for the week to bring to work. Anyone have any ideas for yummy low-cal recipes?

Pizza at work! Noooooo!!!
Today is my first day trying a lesser form of intermittent fasting, in that all I intended to consume today is a few 110 cal meal replacement shakes, a 450 cal taco salad I made at home, and a couple apples, as well as a whole bunch of water. This morning and early afternoon before work was fine, I had my breakfast shake,…

Want to make sure I have this right...
From all of the things I've read, both on here and elsewhere, I need to eat under my TDEE (3100), and over my BMR (2008) in order for my body to want to use the body fat I have stored. Is that an overly simplified breakdown? I just read something that took about 3 pages to say that (I think). It kinda left me confused, so…

Having a hard time with sodium and calories
I can't seem to find a good balance where I eat enough calories for the day (around 2000), while keeping my sodium under 2500. Every time I hit the right amount of calories, I go over the sodium by a bunch. Any advice?

Experiment time
I have come to the realization that MFP had me waaaay under my BMR, saying that I should eat less than 1435 calories a day to lose 2 lbs a week. My BMR is 2030. So I decided to try an experiment: 5 days a week, on my exercise days, I will eat at least 2030 calories, and not pay any attention to how many calories I have…

Hydroxycut, Ripped Fuel, etc... Placebos or real?
Does anyone have any experience with Hydroxycut or Ripped Fuel, or any of the other so-called metabolism boosters/fat burners? Any real results? I bought a bottle of Hydroxycut several months ago before I started to get serious about fitness, and it's pretty much just been sitting in my medicine cabinet. I'll start using…

Open diary
I'm just curious as to anyone's thoughts as to my food/exercise diary. I diligently log every single thing I put into my body (except water sometimes, oops), and I tend to add about 80% of my exercising (i.e. if I do circuit training for 45 minutes, I'll usually put around 35, to negate any underestimation by MFP on…

Good HRM?
I am thinking about buying a good HRM to more accurately calculate how many calories I'm burning while exercising. I think MFP is overestimating, and the treadmill/elliptical/stationary bike are underestimating. I am looking for something not too expensive, simple, and user friendly. Any advice?

Cool little work NSV
It's come to my attention that people at work are asking me weight loss advice a lot lately. Also, just got done with a nice conversation that started with "I have a quick question, what do you do for abs?" 2 months ago, the only ab question anyone would have asked me is whether or not they existed under that layer of fat!…

Seems to be a plateau...
I have been steadily losing around 2 lbs a week since I started this about 50 days ago, but now I've lost nothing in the last 2 weeks. Except for one dip to 204 last week, I've been at 205 for 2 weeks, and worse still, I did my bi-weekly measurements this week, and they haven't changed by even the smallest fraction of an…

Meal replacement shakes...thoughts?
I have been toying with the idea of eating a breakfast of something like light yogurt (80 cals) and granola (130 cals/1/4 cup), and then for the rest of the day substituting meals for protein shakes (280 cals/ea), with some fresh fruit for snacks. I did this for one day last week, and I dropped 3 lbs almost immediately,…

Raw apple cider vinegar
I have heard that an ounce a day of raw apple cider vinegar is a great way to flush your system of toxins and to help keep your body from storing the fat you take in while eating. I have yet to find a way to do this without becoming nauseous from the vinegar. I tried just holding my nose, taking a shot, then drinking about…

Any weight-loss friends around San Francisco?
I live in the SF Bay Area, and I would love to meet some local people to go through the weight loss process with. All of the friends I have now are great for going out with and hanging with, but not so great for dieting or working out with. If I can score a gym/workout partner out of this, that would be the best of all…

4.2 pounds in one day?
This week has been strange on the scale. From Wednesday the 1st to Wednesday the 8th, my weight didn't change at all. It hovered around 208.6. On Thursday, it dropped to 207.0, on Friday, another drop to 205.4. I was ecstatic. Then on Saturday it was up to 209.6, and today back at 208.6. What happened? I know that water…

Cheat-day
Is it important to have a cheat-day where my food choices can be more "bad"? If so, just how overboard can/should I go? I haven't had a real cheat-day since I started about 4 weeks ago.

Worried I'm not eating enough calories to lose
I started out toward my goal by downloading the myfitnesspal app 3 weeks ago, and have already lost 10 lbs. However, in the past week, I have gained back 2. I know that at my weight (214, now), 2 lbs is nothing, and could be anything from water retention to muscle growth, but every week since I have signed up, I have…
