yo-yo train indeed. 3 and a half years ago, I realized that I had packed on more than I had previously been willing to admit. I was up to 232 lbs. So I signed up for MFP, worked out the basic science of weight loss, and lost 45 lbs in about 5 months. A year later, I was back up to 220. Again, hopped back on the MFP train,…

Just thought of another for me: Watermelon. I have never liked it. Still can't eat it.

These all look great. I can't wait to try some of them!

Trying this!

For me the worst part is having to hold my breath to tie my shoes.

Exactly this. This is my exact same story, from the start to the goal.

Pick one of what? My overall goal is to lose fat. I'm not super concerned with building muscle; I'm doing the gym once a week to ensure that I'm losing fat and not muscle. I want to tone up while burning fat.

Unfortunately, when I reached my goal 2 years ago, I did go right back to the wrong way of doing things and gained back all 40 of the pounds I had lost. Now I'm back in the saddle, doing it all over again. I hope I learned my lesson last time. I've got about 3 more months until I'm at my goal again this time.

These are great suggestions. I'll definitely give Molly McButter a try. Usually, when I want to snack it's later in the evening, and I've used up most of my calories for the day. So I need something that's 100 calories or less, but will allow me to snack on it for a while. It doesn't have to be filling, just take care of…

Fruit (banana or apple) or veggies (broccoli/cauliflower/carrot mix) and a wheel of babybell mini cheese, usually.

I like what everyone's said so far. I haven't added any new exercise. At the moment, the only exercise I do is to either walk or ride a stationary bike every day. Time is an issue for me, so I have an exercise bike at home, and I often will take a 45 minute walk when I'm at work on my lunch break. I haven't done any other…

Wow. Great loss, TutuMom! My goal is to lose 2 lbs a week.

That's kinda what I was thinking, but I log every thing I consume, liquid or solid, and I am consistently eating less than the daily goal. Maybe I should cut back a bit more or something. I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't eat excess calories when exercise says I have "earned them." - Though last time I did, and I lost the…

My overall goal is to lose the girth I have gained over the past couple years. I don't have much of a philosophy about working out, but my basic philosophy regarding weight loss is that I need to expend more calories than I consume. So far as weight itself goes, it doesn't much matter what I weigh as long as my body fat %…

I've thought about that, and even tried it. I am an avid bowler, and I've tried getting her to go bowling with me. I don't mind going by myself, but she will whine that she doesn't want to go, but she doesn't want to be alone. So either I cave and we don't go, or we go and she sits there not bowling. Same for other…

So what I'm reading is that I can write a book and make a ton of money? I can come up with 200+ pages of BS to pad "eat right and exercise"... lol

Cool, good info. I don't eat much processed foods, and those that I do eat don't have much sugar. I try to focus the "big meals" around whole foods, fruits and grains mainly.

The way to make sure you are maintaining muscle while losing fat is to add exercise, particularly weight training. If you don't do any exercise, you will still lose weight, but you're right, you will lose muscle as well as fat. However, for the course of this particular thread, I just wanted to point out that if you eat…

Everyone's got good suggestions. I have been studying nutrition fiercely since I have started using MFP, and it gets extremely complicated with what fats you want (saturated, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated), what fats you want to avoid, (trans, too much of the other three), the fatty acids you need (Omegas, in varying…

I've done a lot of research on carbs, just to satiate my own curiosity on the matter, and everything I've seen indicates that sugar does cause you to gain fat. The way it's explained is that sugars are converted by your body into glucose, which is either used immediately for fuel, or stored in your liver for later use as…

Whole-grain naan bread. Amazing flavor with any flavor of hummus.

Couldn't figure it out, so I just made it my main photo. I'll change it back in the morning. lol So here's a man in a uniform.

As soon as I can figure out how to put a pic in a post I'll throw one up of me in my Army uniform.
