Greetings, all!

When I moved away from home for the first time and into grad school, I dropped 14 pounds.
After volunteering myself into a diet/exercise research study to be scanned and poked and measured and weighed, I lost 21 more pounds.
Then, I started writing my thesis, and all activity outside of studies was lost.

Here I am a little over a year later, 15lbs back on me and BMI lord knows what. (My all time weight history chart on this site is funny to look at). So it's back to the grind. I'm planning on losing mainly through strict dieting and aerobics exercises. I don't do well with weight training. Currently slowly easing myself into the terrible diet again. I can offer some advice as far as dieting goes, but I'm more of a beginner myself since I only followed how others directed me in the research study.
Wish me luck! My goal is to lose 35 pounds by August! Good luck to all of you as well.

August is 198 days away. Theoretically, that comes out to a deficit of 618 kcal/day. It sounds like a lot, but you can do it, I believe in you! I managed to lose 30lbs in about 6 months a few years ago without exercising. It really didn't feel like I averaged that kind of deficit, thinking back.

It sounds like it might be time to get off the yo-yo train! If you think your diet is terrible it likely isn't sustainable and you'll find yourself in the same position it another year or two. Why not take the slow and steady route instead to promote more lasting change so you don't have to go back to the grind?

Wow, that's a lot of mathematics there haha impressive! 618 kcal a day would put me at about 1300 or so, so that's manageable!
30lbs in six months? Nice! I'd like to lose weight without exercising, but I've never had any luck. I have the metabolism of a rock :expressionless:

My diet is terrible (in my opinion). It's a low carb, low fat, high protein. In the study I volunteered in, it worked, and they proved that the diet is more efficient, but it's so difficult to do. It has an impact on your overall health and your mood; trust me haha I was irritable a lot.
I agree that a slower route would be better. I could probably stick to it better in the end, but I have so little patience. Weight loss is always a challenge.

yo-yo train indeed. 3 and a half years ago, I realized that I had packed on more than I had previously been willing to admit. I was up to 232 lbs. So I signed up for MFP, worked out the basic science of weight loss, and lost 45 lbs in about 5 months. A year later, I was back up to 220. Again, hopped back on the MFP train, and lost 30 lbs. About 6 months later, I was climbing again. Lost it again. Now here I sit back at 220. The change never seems to be permanent for me. I don't seem to have the discipline to keep it off. The allure of all the tasty and horrible-for-me foods is apparently too much.
