Is Charge HR accurate when driving?
Hi, I'm currently using a One, but I'm a bit fed up of it because it records steps when I'm driving - apparently it only does this if you drive on back roads, but I live in the Highlands of Scotland - they're ALL back roads!!! It's a bit tedious adjusting my steps after every journey. I've been thinking of forking out for…

What counts as a rest day?
Ok, so I know I'm not supposed to run two days in a row, but the thing is, I have dance classes on Tuesday and Wednesday, and martial arts classes on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. At the moment, I'm running on Monday and Friday, and squeezing in another run on one of the other days, which means I'm not actually resting…

Haven't run in 9 days - do I restart where I was?
hi, I was on week 4 day 2 and then life intervened and somehow I haven't fit in a run for 9 days. Week 5 looks a bit daunting! I'm wondering if my stamina would be set back in that space of time? Should I just keep going, or maybe repeat a week? I don't want to kill myself but I don't want to not push myself either!

Fitbit Virgin
Hi, recently bought a Fitbit Flex and, after a few hiccups because it insisted my laptop wasn't connected to the internet, I am wearing it for the first time today. I have linked it my MFP but I note it says I have to enter start times for all my exercise. I thought the point was that I didn't have to log my exercise? So…

Fitbit Flex on MFP
Hi Fitbit users, I'm toying with the idea of getting a fitbit flex but I'm not sure if I can use it because my phone is an iphone 4 and it's only compatible with the 4s or 5. Can you sync it with MFP without a compatible phone? Am I right in thinking it's more like a pedometer than an HRM? I already have an HRM with a…

Should I deduct cals for being alive from my exercise?
Right, I'm running low on calories today so I strapped on my heart rate monitor and washed my windows. Boom, 239 calories! But, my MFP allowance at sedentary includes calories for basically just staying alive for that 49 minutes. So really, when I exercise, should I be deducting the calories I would have burned lying on…

Postcard Challenge #3 - The Christmas Edition
The third round of the postcard challenge is beginning! I realise this isn't a good month for a lot of us, but what better reason for a little extra motivation? Let's all get into our hot party outfits! I will try to find a Christmassy card for the winner! Here is how this works: Enter your starting weight by Saturday…

How long is long enough when training?
I'm toying with the idea of joining a gym so I can exercise in my lunch hour. I don't have a lot of spare time and getting away from my desk and utilising that wasted hour in the middle of the day seems like a good idea. But by the time I walk there, get changed, and get back to work, I'd probably only have 20 minutes,…

Target HRS410 heart rate monitor
Does anyone have an hrs410 heart rate monitor? I got one for Christmas, I've never used one before so I don't know what I'm doing, and the instructions are next to useless. I'm not sure that "decrement" is even a word!

Does your body become accustomed to exercise?
A few years ago I took up aikido and belly dancing at the same time, for social reasons, not to lose weight, but over the next 6 months without trying, I lost 2 stone. However, over the following two years, even though I was still exercising the same amount, all the weight crept back on, and more. Of course the comfort…

Hallowe'en Sweets
First of all, I am Scottish, so in this post I will be referring to "guisers" who are small children who come round at Hallowe'en, sing a song or tell a joke or whatever, and get some sweets in return. Anyway, it's always difficult to guess if I will get any guisers or not. My daughter and her friends are too old, and none…

Any calories you resent counting?
The other day I had this sudden urge for apple juice. Not something I drink often, but it was all that would do! So, I went and bought some, poured myself a nice big chilled glass, and then discovered it contained 100 calories! It's liquid, right? I'm meant to be drinking more fluid! It's one of my 5 a day!! I was really…

Anyone else get really cranky days?
Hi, I've been doing this for 75 days now, as MFP as just joyfully advised me. (I'm sure it thinks that's motivating, but I just find it depressing). Anyway, I have just realised today that lately I've been really cranky on Thursdays. Maybe not every Thursday and maybe not exclusively Thursdays, but most notably, a couple…

What are the best stomach firming exercises?
I have a lot of sagging skin on my stomach as a result of never losing the baby weight 14 years ago (and a c-section). I know I will probably never be able to get rid of it all at this late stage but I want to budge as much as I can as surgery isn't really an option for me. I has seen some improvement in the past from my…

Aspirational Outfits
I'm sure other people must have outfits they aspire to get into, so what are yours? I'm finding it difficult to focus on a target weight because frankly, the ones on the health charts sound just too far away, so I have decided to aim for something more tangible. Last time I lost weight, about 2-3 years ago, I bought a pair…

Been here before!
Hi, this is my 1st post and I'm relatively new on here, 5 weeks or so I think. I've been getting on great, really find the app useful and enjoying every little weight loss, until I weighed myself a few days ago and thought "eugh! I've been this weight before. In 2010. And 2006. And 2002!" I'd forgotten my weight tends to…
