Indian food help
I'm going to lunch tomorrow in Southall tomorrow (the Little India of London). I am not that familiar with Indian food. What should I order?

what to do with dried black beans?
Ended up with a big bag of these. Meant to request fermented black beans for Chinese black bean sauce, but hubby wasn't sure so he came home with a bag of dried black beans as well. What should i do with them? Do you have a favorite black bean soup recipe? Any other ideas welcome.

what to do with morcilla iberica?
I got a hostess gift of some morcilla iberica from a friend who had been to Spain recently. Apparently blood sausage that needs to be cooked before eating. What do I do with this? I can imagine frying some up with scrambled eggs, but does anyone else have ideas?

Victory
Six months ago I was instructed to start experimenting with cutting down on metformin. After consistently having hba1c at 4.9 on 500 mg of metformin, I've been instructed to try stop completely. They will check hba1c in 3 months.

Push elbow pain
Potential new injury. A few weeks ago I noticed elbow pain doing shoulder presses. I was careful about not over taxing push exercises for a while. Today, I noticed the same pain doing machine bench. It was better when I raised my elbows higher. Any recommendations, short of not doing push exercises? In the worst case I…

Diabetes victory
Okay. I am still overweight and there are no pictures. But I am really chuffed by today's NSV. In August 2012 I was diagnose with type 2 diabetes. This scared me and I started dieting and exercising and joined MFP. After 6 months I had dropped some weight causing my hba1c to look better, so the GP gave me license to…

Ketones in morning urine?
So I had my routine diabetes check up this morning. The good news is my hba1c is 4.9 for the second time running. My GP gave me licence to experiment with reducing my metformin about a year ago, so I am down to 500 mg a day, and hoping to switch to taking it every other day soon, after I have consulted the specialist…

what to do with not so ripe melons?
We've got a bunch of not so sweet honey dews. I understand that once they are off the plant, they won't ripen further. So far have made melon granita, salad of melon, zucchini, cucumber, olives, red onion and vinaigrette, and a smoothie with banana. Any other ideas? Tips on selecting melons also welcome.

Lying about my age...
to the HRM. I am in reasonable cardio shape (I do a lot of it) but advanced in years. It annoys me that the HRM is always telling me I am out of my workout zone, because the beats per minute is too high. Any harm in subtracting 5-10 years from my age on my HRM settings? The real question: is there any harm on targeting a…

Rodizio
A friend is taking me to an all you can eat Rodizio restaurant tonight as belated birthday gift. I've never been to one. Any tips on how to exercise restraint? I will do a huge cardio work out first, and try to stick to chicken and lean beef. Any other pointers? Are the salads in general loaded with mayonnaise and the such?

Packed lunch ideas?
Since I started MFP in August I have been bringing packed lunches to work. Lunch is usually around 200g of microwaved frozen veg, plus some protein (leftover meat from previous night, a boiled egg, 40g turkey ham, 40g of beef jerky). I mostly snack on fruit between meals (apples, bananas and mandarins in the office).…

How to log simmered wine in recipes?
Hi, Who knows how I should log wine that has been simmered in a recipe (ie stews, coq au vin). I imagine most of the alcohol gets cooked off but it will still contain sugar. Would you just halve the normal calories as a ballpark guess? Thanks.

televisions apps iphone Canada? Help?
I normally watch television on the iPhone while doing the elliptical trainer or treadmill. The apps I normally use in the UK won't play from my vacation location (Canada). I really will be needing the cardio workouts to offset all the restaurant meals, and I have trouble handling the boredom without the TV. Experiencing…

Cardio changing cravings from carbs to protein? Huh?
I got home from work famished. Was absolutely craving carbs. Even considered eating noodles first, but went to the gym before eating. Did an hour of cardio on the cross trainer, and was surprised that my pasta craving was gone and replaced by a protein craving instead. Does anyone understand what's happening here?
