televisions apps iphone Canada? Help?

I normally watch television on the iPhone while doing the elliptical trainer or treadmill. The apps I normally use in the UK won't play from my vacation location (Canada). I really will be needing the cardio workouts to offset all the restaurant meals, and I have trouble handling the boredom without the TV. Experiencing difficulties finding television apps that work in Canada (Toronto specifically, if that makes any difference).

Can any Canadians help? Tried searching for CBC on the app store, but only could find a news service, radio or hockey. Also tried installing called Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, but the data archive seemed to be empty.
