Drink problem! Actually coffee/tea & the sugar in milk!!!
Right-ee-oh folks, I've a drink problem I think. Let me explain. I'm starting the Diet Doctor Challenge tomorrow, and it seems I'm going to hit a dilemma with my liquid intake. Today I filled in all my foods to MFP and was shocked to see the amount of sugar in the milk that goes in my coffee & tea! Nearly 100% of my liquid…

Eating "on the road".
Suggestions for travel food please. :) Next week I'm to be away for a few days - I'm staying in a self-catering cottage with 3 others, whilst on a dog-training course. Lunches of "Soup and a Roll" are going to be provided along with buns at break times. LOL Now the buns and chocolatey nibbles are no problem for me to…

Cupboard clearance tomorrow! Starting LCD Monday! Help!
Hello all. I'm Sally. I've been doing Intermittent Fasting (IF) for about a year. I often fast 20hrs each day, but sometimes I do 2x 36hr fasts a week, and once I did an 81hr fast. I eat well in between times and like cooking real food. I currently eat gluten-free and low-ish sugar. Unfortunately, in my year of IF didn't…

Hello - Just started 5/2 - Now 3 Fast days done! Fasting friends?
Hello there every-one! I've sent out a couple of friend requests to folk doing the 5/2 Fast Diet - and am also happy for others to send me friend requests (please mention this group - thanks). I've listened to the Audio book on the diet and watched the BBC programme last year. So, I'm getting going now and have done 3 fast…

Daughter runs competitively and wants to switch to Primal
My 18 year old daughter is a x-country runner - and has been competing successfully at All Ireland level for a few years. She trains hard several days a week. Her competition distances vary between 3 km to 5 km. I recently noticed that her diet was slipping- especially on her training nights. She tends to come into the…

I haven't put this up on the open forums, but hey I'll share it here: Left is me in June 2011 weighing about 162 lb (BMI 26.8) and right is me weighing 134lb (BMI 22.3) The photo on the left shocked me a bit .... I didn't stay that weight for long. Anyone else?

How quickly does Paleo//Primal show improvements?
Just wondering about how quickly you all started to notice improvements in well-being after starting this diet. I'm only on day 5 now, and feel "good" for coping with the changes. However I'm wondering how far into the diet you all got before you decided you "felt better" on this diet than you had on your old one. I'm…

Starting by cutting out Grains....
So today was the first day I've managed to go "grain free".... and actually managed to say "no" to potatoes as well! I'm not quite ready to give up milk yet, as I love kefir. That is kefir made with milk. It is well fermented so perhaps not as bad as some dairy products.... and I do like a dash of milk in tea etc, too....…

Cooking becomes more important as meals get smaller....
Just wondering what you all think. There was a thread in the main forums that listed 10 things about people who had a normal weight and it got me thinking. Actually I only agreed with a few of the 10 things, but one of the "things" was that people with normal weight didn't eat for pleasure but rather for fuel! And that…

Home-made Breads? Recipes to try?
Hello folks, I'm fairly new to Paleo eating (although I did something similar 15 years ago - just wasn't called paleo then!) Anyway, the thing I missed most then was bread. Previously, I bought some breads that were rice based, but I gather that wouldn't do for Paleo anyway.... and I didn't think much of them, although the…

Post Exertional Malaise..... (ME)
I really can't "exercise" in the old way I used to. I was never a gym bunny, nor a runner, but I could have walked, gardened or ridden horses for hours, with out thinking twice about it. I also had a busy job teaching, and an active life that I loved. Long story short, in March this year, my world changed. Although I am…

Clothes I'll dare to wear!
Most of my life I've been solid rather than over weight. Thighs always just to chunky to look good in short skirts. Since June last year however I've dropped around 26lb and I'm feeling a bit more adventurous again..... (BMI is now 23, although I would like to take it down to 20 or 21 eventually). So there's a friend's…

My best motivator is my dog!
Hello folks, I imagine lots of people have a great fitness motivator who knows that the moment you click the laptop closed is the best time to capture your attention for another walk...... I have 3 terriers here and they are, seriously, a great motivation to get fit and active. If you are interested to join a group of folk…

Loosing weight without exercising!
My dilemma is that I am unable to exercise due to ill-health and so am burning very few calories. My basal metabolic rate (BMR) is given as 1261. I would like to loose about 20lbs to take my Body Mass Index ( BMI ) from the current 23.3 to about 20. My reasoning is that it will be easier for me to get about and do what I…
