I’m in! I’m only 2 weeks into eating LCHF, and up to now I’ve really just concentrated on not eating carbs and sticking to that. However, I think I now need to be more diligent on aiming for a little weight loss too. During transitition to LCHF, I relaxed my intermittent fasting to allow for adjustment to the new way of…

Reporting back. First of all I had a GREAT weekend! Also I can say tentatively, it seems that this way of eating is helping my stamina. Physically, the symptoms of ME gave me less bother than I expected.. In terms of carbs, I was slightly higher than I wanted to be - mostly down to milk in my coffee, but I’m pleased that I…

@kpk54 Yes, interesting you should mention it. I have over the past couple of days had a distinct ramping down of my appetite, which is marvellous.

Pork rinds... good call, and should keep salt levels up too as presumably they are salted. Will look for some before I go. Thanks. In other news I spent this morning cooking. In the freezer, ready to travel, I now have: Egg muffins, Bacon wrapped burgers (snack size) and Cooked chicken thighs (with skin). I'm also…

Ooo yes how could I have forgotten hard boiled eggs  And good point about the jerky. Thanks.

What a difference a year makes.

I thought of this post last night when suddenly I was TOTALLY full, at the end of my dinner. The type of "full" that even the temptation of a favourite nibble wouldn't have broken. So Yeah! I get what you are saying. :)

I'm just getting going with LCHF & am one week into the Diet Doctor two week challenge. Happy to have a few LC friends to cheer me on and keep me right.

@kpk54 Thank you. That gives me loads to start off with. I found a similar thing with fasting. Great gains when I started, but waning as time went on. Still if I can get a little lift coming into the summer it would be appreciated, and a few lbs down would be another bonus. Hope you too find another little something you…

Where can I find more info on this please? I have ME (or CFS in USA - what a rubbish name), anyway my stamina improved when I took up fasting. This was quite a surprise, cos I started fasting to control my blood sugars better after doing some self tests and finding them rather elevated. And, I was told that fasting can put…

So do you pee more or less often?

Seems you've started just ahead of me @xMikeh - so it's encouraging to hear you are loosing already. Well done! I'm following the recipes on the Diet Doctor two week challenge. I've been cooking up double portions so there is enough for lunch the next day too, although it seems there is actually more than he and I can eat,…

When you use so much butter/coconutoil/fat in the pan that you never need to scrub things off the bottom. Just a wipe and Ta Da!

Inspiring thread folks. I just started LCHF this week. Actually I've been eating low sugar, gluten free, and chocolate free, for some time, and have also done IF over the past year. All this seems to have helped, as I appear to be transitioning to LCHF quite well. Anyway it's great to hear so many of you can maintain this…

Thanks for asking @elize7 . Things are good so far. I've been gluten and chocolate free for years so I'm quite used to refusing foods I don't eat, and thankfully I don't have a very sweet tooth any more, so in truth cravings are not too high for me. (Having said that I do miss - but not crave - mashed potatoes under melted…

This morning I whizzed up a tsp of butter into my coffee. SURPRISINGLY GOOD! Will try not to drink so many cups of coffee, but this will allow me my morning fix at least with out all the sugars in milk adding to my carb count. :)
-
Impressive. Well done! :)

So I have also just started on the LCHF way of eating. At the moment you can sign up to https://www.dietdoctor.com/welcome for a free introductory month. They have a two week challenge with the first 2 weeks meals all up there, complete with shopping lists etc. I think they go for 20g net carbs a day (ie remove the value…

Check out Dr Jason Fung on YouTube for Intermittent Fasting info. He has a couple of books too. I've been doing IF for about a year now, but have only just started keto. I think during longer fasts you enter ketosis as well, so I'm hoping that I'm fairly well fat adapted already. :)

I think it will have to be cream. I tried today to just skip milk, but that didn't end well and I added the milk anyway! I was over on the carbs today entirely because of the milk thing. :(
-
I might need to check these out. That or as you say cream. Hmmmm

Salt is an interesting thing. I always wondered why people thought eating salt "puts pressure on your kidneys"..... I was a biology teacher (before ill-health) and as I understood kidney function, it was the re-absorption of salt when salt levels were low, that caused the kidneys to work. Otherwise excess salt is just…

Thank you for the recommendation. I use Audible, and will check this book out. I also want to listen to the new book from Dr Fung - The Diabetes Code. My wish list is filling up!

Large larder cupboard - DONE o:) However there are a couple of other lesser-used-corners, that still need cleared out. Nearly there. ;)
-
Thank you all you lovely people for this encouragement. Last night I did an online shop, so all this week's ingredients will all arrive this afternoon. The big cupboard clearance is about to commence (I'm just finishing my morning coffee, and that habitual surf round Facebook and Twitter first ;) ) I'm going to have to…

Thank you. I've printed out the Week Plan, the shopping list and the Foods to Avoid list, and am priming my good man to accompany me on this endeavour. He likes the idea of scrambled eggs in the morning which helps. And has told me I'm allowed to hide his breakfast cereals, tomato ketchup and bread. I'm not…

Good thread, and I loved the motivational video too. I find at those finger food gatherings it is good to keep moving around. That way no-one sees whether you've eaten yet or not. I often fast, and this moving trick works very well. I'm also gluten and chocolate intolerant (for digestive, and migraine reasons respectively)…
