Warrior Dash
So -- anybody here competed in the Warrior Dash? It's May 21st in Maryland (my state), and I'm considering doing it. It looks like a lot of fun, and I could probably ask my friends to raise money for cancer research (which is close to my heart). Anybody?

Biggest Loser last night
WARNING: THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS POST! Okay, so are the rest of you MFP-onians as pissed off as I am? Where in the WORLD is Rulon getting all of this crapola food from? I was under the impression that the BL ranch is way off in the desert somewhere, miles and miles from civilization and too far to take a run or a…

Can anyone say "veggies"?
Okay, this is driving me NUTS!! I love this site and love all my MFP.com pals, but it's making me CRAZY to see people under (sometimes way, WAY under) their calorie counts who are not eating ANY veggies or fruits! PLEASE people, eat your veggies! Your mama told you so, and for once she was RIGHT. Veggies have a high water…

Last Night's Biggest Loser -- Anybody Else Catch it?
Okay, SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT READ THIS if you are waiting to watch last night's BL. So -- I was SO glad that Courtney did not go home! And what is UP with this whole martyrdom thing they have going on this season? Why in the world would Kaylee (sp?) want to leave? I'm glad she's gotten what she felt she needed, but you…

ChaLEAN Extreme
I'm beginning Phase 1 of ChaLEAN Extreme tomorrow; but I cannot find a calorie count for this on MFP. Anybody done this before? How do I calculate it? Thanks

Anybody else have knee/leg issues?
Okay, so I am doing plyometrics, running, biking, and weight lifting. My problem is, the inside of my right thigh, including just inside my right knee, is killing me. I have been taking a muscle relaxer 1-2X a day and some Advil, but I'm still in pain. Anybody had this injury? Will massage help significantly? I am gearing…

Anybody else watching Biggest Loser tonight?
I've got 170 calories left for TV watching!! Hooray! Still don't know who I'm rooting for -- anybody else?

Fill in the blank: When I Am Out of Motivation, I __________
Okay, so my last post on what do you eat almost every day was fascinating to me. So I think I'll start a new question: What do you do when your motivation is running low? How do you amp yourself up again? For me, I look at mags like Oxygen Magazine or Muscle & Fitness Hers. Seeing women who are in amazing shape I WANT to…

What Foods Do you Eat Almost Every Day?
Okay, I'm just curious. I am noticing from my food logs there are foods I eat again and again. They are: sour cream (like twice a day, who knew?); ketchup (same); dark chocolate chips; and onions. What foods do YOU eat almost daily?

What is UP with tons of exercise and weight GAIN?
Okay, so this is really bugging me. A few of my friends (not me -- yet, anyway) are either training for half marathons, full marathons, or are doing P90X, which is intense exercise. Those few friends are logging in weight GAIN after an intense period of exercise or doing a marathon or half or a marathon event. Does anybody…

Healthy Recipes for Kids
Thanks in large part to MFP.com, I am doing very well with my weight loss, 10 lbs. since I started. However, I am having a VERY HARD time taking my family along for the ride. Specifically, I have three kids who are set on pasta, pizza and a few healthy foods (like chicken, vegetarian patties from Morningstar Farms,…

Kicking the soda habit
Houston, we have a problem. It seems that diet soda has become a new food group in our household, and it won't go away. My husband is diabetic and is NOT working any kind of program; he says he feels soda is a "treat" for him, but I feel it's a killer of good health and weight loss, not to mention our kids are now drinking…

Is low carb pasta for real?
So I've started buying Dreamfields "low carb" pasta that says it has 41 carbs per serving but only 5 "digestable carbs" per serving. My husband is diabetic, and we all love pasta. Does anybody know if this is b.s. marketing, or is it the real deal? If it is for real, it's like finding a type of broccoli that tastes like…

Is it okay to work out with a head cold?
You know how the Chinese name years? 2011 so far is "The Year of the Cold" for me. AHHHHH! I have (yet another) head cold today, and it's the third day now. I haven't worked out for four days, which feels very weird to me. I tend to have a lot of arrhythmia when I don't work out, so I kind of need to get that heart rate up…

My Aching Quads -- Rest or Workout?
Well, I've gone and done it again. My neighbor & I are doing "Mommy Boot Camp," my own home-grown version of boot camp. This Monday, we did interval sprints, basketball sprints (run down the court, take a shot, run back down, take a shot), squats with knee-ups, jumping jacks, etc., for 40 minutes; the other 20 were spent…

Does the Tot Pot (Belly that is) Ever Go Away?
So I had three babies in four years' time (albeit 15 years ago), gained a ton of weight, then went from a size 16 to a 7/8. Now I'm back up to an 11/12 and have lost 9 lbs. so far on this quest to get back to an 8. My tot pot (belly), however, is stubbornly laying there, a big, fat pinch of skin and fat that won't go away.…

Half Marathon by May 1st Challenge -- Week 2
You know that old saying, "The road to hell is paved with the best of intentions"? Well, welcome to Half Marathon Training, Week 2, campers. I'm sure somewhere deep inside me (like between my navel and my ribs, say?) is a real, honest-to-goodness RUNNER who wants to come out and just GO! However, I am finding that I cannot…

Half Marathon by May Challenge Week 1
Okay, campers. Welcome to week 1 check-in. (Coincidentally, today is my weigh-in day; hooray, I lost 2.2 lbs!). I've taken the advice of everybody who has posted on the previous thread, and I'm going to start out easy on the treadmill. I looked at the Jeff Galloway info online, and he says you need to be up to 3 miles…

Weight Lifting for Weight Loss
About six years ago, I was a size 7/8, 135 lbs. Let's just say, I'm no longer a size 7/8, 135 lbs. When I was that skinny, I was tracking food (although not nearly as religiously as with MFP) and working out doing interval training and weights. I was thinking about gaining the weight back, and I realized when I started…

Week 1 Schedule: From Non-Runner to Half Marathon in Four Mo
Okay, campers, welcome to 2011! I've done some research, and now that I'm feeling better after a few days of antibiotics (and may I just say, God bless the makers of augmentin) here's the schedule for Week 1 of a 12-week training period for a half marathon. FYI, I am NOT a runner, so this is for people who don't have a…

From Non-Runner to Half Marathon in Four Months
Okay, campers. So sometime between Christmas and today, I've lost my happy mind (as my mother would say) and decided to do a half marathon in the hills of Maryland on May 15th. I can run a grand total of 10 minutes right now, so I've got a really good, long ways to go. The half marathon (here anyway) is 12.79 miles. I…

Anybody else listen to Jonny Bowden's Free Weight Loss Webin
Okay, kids. This is VERY different from the usual calories-in/calories-out kind of nutritional advice. Did anybody else happen to listen to the (approximately) 45-minute Jonny Bowden free webinar the other day? It's up online under: http://www.jonnybowden.com/replay/ (you have to copy & paste into your browser). I have…

"Killer At Large" -- How Stress Makes Us Fat
I just saw this fascinating documentary I wanted to share with everybody. It's on Netflix, and I had never heard of it before, so I don't know how easy it is to get a hold of. At any rate, it's called "Killer at Large," about obesity and weight issues. A scientist was discussing STRESS and how stress has evolved, while our…

How do I tell my Mom not to give me a bigger butt for Christ
Okay, so my Mom is here visiting for Christmas. My Mom used to be bigger than I am, but she got very, very sick a couple of years ago and then lost 50 lbs. I love my Mom, but she didn't do jack-diddly-squat to lose that weight, so I am very annoyed when she tells me that she used to be "fat" or that she's too skinny and…

Can you expect to lose weight during that "one week of the m
Okay, campers, so I have been tracking my food and exercise with MFP, and so far I've lost 7 lbs. So far, so good. Between tonight and tomorrow, however, my "Aunt Flow" will be making her monthly stop to my body, and I'm trying to avoid all hell breaking loose. My question is: I weigh in on Tuesdays. Is there even a…
