Is lightly active the right setting for me?
I wear a Fitbit and average 8900 steps/day. I have 4 days a week that I hit at least 10,000 and the other 3 are less. Walking is my only exercise right now. Would you use the lightly active setting on MFP with this level of daily activity?

Shoe suggestions?
I've just restarted after an unfortunate two year slide. I had been a dedicated walker, sometimes up to 8 miles in a day and the occasional half marathon. I'm now working an office job and would like to work in some walks during my work day. I work in a building that is about a 20 minute walk from another building I…

Rest days
So I've found myself in a very peculiar situation. I have gone from someone who NEVER exercised a year ago to someone who is exercising a whole lot. I'm in the middle of the "Get Running" program, which is 3 days per week. I swim for 45 minutes 2-3 times per week, and try to fit in a long walk or hike on my weekends. I'm…

Little NSV
I finished week 2 of the "Get Running" program today. I went from being of the mindset "I only run when something is chasing me" to signing up to run my 1st 5k in mid December. 2 weeks down, 7 to go and I can honestly say I am loving being a runner. It's also kick starting my weight loss again. I had stalled for about a…

Kirkland area workout buddy?
I'm looking for a work out buddy in the Kirkland area. I alternate between walking in Kirkland (and will be starting C25K next week) and working out at the Totem Lake LA Fitness. I'd love to have someone to work out with from time to time!

Food guidance prior to 1/2 marathon
Hi All, Next week I'm hitting my big goal for the summer, walking in a 1/2 marathon. I've done three 10K's this summer and have noticed that by half way through I'm STARVING! Like, feeling dizzy low blood sugar type starving. Thank goodness for the folks handing out gatorade along the way! Can anyone whose done this before…

Progress!
I've hit a bit of a milestone this morning, and I'm thrilled! I had set a mini goal for myself to hit 60lbs gone by the date of my 1/2 marathon walk, which is on Sept 29. Well, I hit it this morning, a week and a half early! I'm so happy to be heading in to my walk happier and healthier! I started this journey on Jan 1 of…

Weight machines vs. free weights
I'm just starting to work on adding weights to my routine in addition to cardio. I've gotten some excellent advice here so far, thanks to those who gave it! I've ordered "New Rules of Lifting for Women" and have googled info on 5x5 lifting. My question to you today is, is there a difference between using the weight…

Favorite protein powder?
I'm in the US, so has to be something I can find here...maybe chocolate to mix with PB2 and bananas, or vanilla to mix with berries? What's your favorite brand and where can I find it?

Tell be about how you started lifting
I've been working on my health and fitness since Jan. 1 of this year. I've lost 57lbs so far. I've mostly been walking as exercise, but feel it's time to step up my game and add in some weight lifting. I can't afford the personal training service at my gym so I'm coming to you for your excellent guidance. I've done a…

Contemplating a sprint triathlon
Hi Everyone, I've set a goal this summer to walk a 1/2 marathon. It's scheduled for the end of September. As I'm getting closer I realize to keep myself on track that I need to set another goal, something big to work towards beyond just my weight loss. I'm intrigued by the idea of a sprint triathlon. I'm wondering a few…
