What to put on my rice cakes?
I have been looking for a lower calorie alternative to bread for a while, with the lowest calorie bread I could find being approx 85 calories per slice (170 calories per sandwich!). I recently thought of rice cakes which are about 30-35 calories each. I do like them plain, but that would make a boring lunch box day after…

Sugar types: It really does matter WHAT we eat
Hi all, I have heard/read a lot lately about how what we eat is the real problem, not so much the quantity that we eat (obviously quantity plays a part though). One of the main things I have read about recently is that fructose (that innocent, NATURAL sugar) is actually the worst type of sugar for us to ingest if we are…

Dieting makes your body reacting like you are being starved?
I watched The Men Who Made Us Thin (episode 1) the other day and the main message I got from it was that diets do not work and people usually end up heavier than their starting weight. I think this is something that has been said before, but it was the reason they gave that interested me. They said about a study which had…

New jeans NSV :o)
Clothing sizes differ so much that I always take more than one size into the changing room... I used to take a UK size 18 and 20 into the changing rooms with me (that's if they had them in the shop!) and a little while ago I started taking in a 16 and an 18. That's what I did yesterday and the 16 was too big! In fact I had…

Subtract BMR from calories burned during light exercise?
My boyfriend suggested that I should subtract my BMR from the number of calories burnt during very light exercise (walking), recorded by my heart rate monitor. Do you think this is a good idea? Do you do it? Do you even count calories from this type of exercise? I normally don't do such light exercise and count all…

An NSV with pic and an SV too! :o)
This morning I tried on two skirts and both were far too big! To the charity shop with them! Here's a pic of one: Wow, look at those stretch marks! My Scale victory is that I have just conquered the 90kg mark! This morning I weighed in at 89.8kg. I have also conquered the 200lb mark, now weighing 198lb! :D

NSV - finally in Onederland!
Weighed myself yesterday and thought that I had put a little weight on (0.6kg/1lb) after a short break to France, but then weighed myself this morning and found that I was 1kg/2.2lb lighter than yesterday! So I am currently my lightest weight ever and finally in Onederland at 199.5lb, finally!!! :o ) This gives me the…

Best fitness DVD for men?
Hi all, I have been doing the 30 Day Shred (now on day 10!) and it has peaked my boyfriend's interest. I have seen several people on the forums say that the 30 Day Shred is good for men as well, and I'm going to suggest he try it, but he is keen to work on his stomach (and also arms and legs), and build muscle (which is…

Fitness NSV :o)
I hit my mini goal of 5 minutes of non-stop 10km/hour running a little while ago :o ) It was a big jump from 3.5 minutes to 5, but I wanted to reach it really badly. 5.5 minutes? Maybe soon... ;o)

New NSV
My knees have shrunk! Has anyone else noticed weight loss on their knees? :o ) Also, I've had a few comments from work colleagues over the past few months, saying I look slimmer, but now I am getting them from people I hardly talk to. When near strangers say I look slimmer it feels great :o )

Body calorie monitors in the UK?
I have seen people mention body calorie monitors that you wear all day, and they tell you exactly how many calories you have burnt. Can anyone recommend one that is available in the UK? I don't want to spend too much. I have seen people mention BodyBugg and BodyMedia Fit. Many thanks all! :o )

A new NSV :o)
Today I had to use the next set of hooks on my bra back, so I'm on set 2 of 3. I suppose this means I will need new bras at some point in the near future. That will be time to take the boyfriend shopping! ;o) Luckily my actual boobs don't seem to be shrinking too much!

NSV which is a big pain in the backside!
I have noticed recently that chairs are becoming less comfortable and I have finally realised that it is because my bum has less padding. This is great - my bum is smaller! :o ) The downside is that I am getting really uncomfortable sitting in my chair at work, and I can't sit on the floor. My exercise bike? Now that is…

Kelp noodles in the UK?
I have heard great things about kelp noodles (6 calories per serving, low carbs, etc) and I would love to try them, but the only place I can find them in the UK is a website which charges £7 + postage for 2 servings! Does anyone know of a cheaper source in the UK, or maybe Europe? Or somewhere else that doesn't charge the…

New and meticulously logging :o)
Hi all, I received an Android phone for Christmas and found the MyFitnesPal app and I have logged everything since Christmas day. I have just discovered that I can log all the readings from my fancy scales (BMI, body fat %, etc) along with my weight, so I am doing that too. 1/2 kg lost since 31st Dec 2010. Back on track!
