new member, first post :)
Hi, I'm Mitzi. I was 39 when I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. I've been in remission now for just under 2 1/2 years. It has left me with some issues though. I lost control of my pelvic muscles and there is scarring where my colon resection took place. As well as scarring where my stoma was stitched up. It…

Weightloss after cancer and your body is junk
Hi all! I've been on and off of MFP for many years. I'm trying to get started again, but I'm very nervous. I've been in remission from colorectal cancer for 2 years now but I still have issues that affect my mind and body. I have scar tissue built up in my stomach where my stoma was, and where a piece of my colon was…

Cancer diagnosis; need advice
In August I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. I was only 40 years old at the time so it was very shocking. At my first doctors appointment I weighed 271 pounds. I’m currently at 256. It’s still very high and I know that I need to make myself as healthy as possible. I’ve battled with my weight all of my life, so…

Are you ever jealous of others successes?
I feel like I am just crippling myself with jealousy. My sister got gastric bypass a few months ago. I'm truly happy for her because she really needed it. But for the first time in 40 years I'm the only fat one and that's a lot harder for me than I thought it would be. As I watch the weight fall off of her it just makes me…

beginner runner (jogger)
I've never run more than 3 miles and even that was over 2 years ago. I'm in the worst shape of my life right now (260 pounds) but I'd like to try running again. Should I try to lose some weight before I attempt to start jogging or should I try jogging as a means of losing weight?

New Orleans area
It is so hard to lose weight and keep it off when you are not only surrounded with junk food but also amazing restaurants. Anything with a cream or sauce is just kryptonite to me. If you could help me work through that I'd love to hear from you!!! I'm also the queen of losing and gaining so I have that to contend with as…

Starting over
I've been on MFP for years. I'll go strong for a few weeks, or even a few months and then for some excuse or another I quit. Last year between March and May I lost 36 pounds. As of now I've gained it all back plus about 15-20 more. What I need is support and inspiration and ideas. My biggest problem is food of course. I…

Exercise before a weigh in?
I weigh in at the gym every Friday. I want to take a Zumba class but it's right before my weigh in and I'm afraid it might alter my weight. What do you think, is a little dancing first going to make a difference?

I can't seem to break my food addiction
I wake up every morning at 4am and exercise. As a matter of fact, I exercise 3-4 hours a day total. I enjoy it and it helps me so much. I just can't stop thinking about food... ALL DAY!!!! I don't overdue it very often but I take bites here and there of sweets or mashed potatoes if my kids are having them. Every once in a…

binging
My biggest problem is binging. I don't know why I do it so I don't know how to stop. I will do really well for a few days and then go crazy. I weighed myself this morning and was pretty happy with the scale and then 2 hours later my husand left for work and I practically ran to the kitchen. Any advice on how to push…

sodium and sugar from fruit...how important are they???
How important is it to keep track of sodium? I find that I go over the allowed 2500 mg almost every day. Also, I've had people tell me that fruit sugar is fine and others tell me that sugar is sugar and it's bad.

Up and down... I need motivation
Hey everyone. I've actually been on MFP for quite a while on and off. In 2011 I lost just over 50 pounds and then gained back 45 before the year was over. Then last year I lost 30 pounds. Now I've started to gain it back again. My husband says I have a fear of success because every time people start to tell me how great…
