My daughter is going in 2014
But I can't make this trek due to work. I'll try to do an Autumn Adventure in 2014 and maybe a Kanik in 2015.

Cimmiron this weekend
My daughter and I get to drive out to Philmont for the weekend. We have a friend who is teaching a class at the PTC so we said we would tag along for the ride. I'll only get to stay one night (at the St. James) but it will still be Epic.

80lbs down in 6 months [pic]
I posted this in another thread related to a bf% question but thought it was such a cool graphic I would share here. If you are just getting started know that it does work! If I had known I could do this I would have started years ago. I read someplace that it takes 21 days for something to become a habit. I don't know if…

Weight dropping but body fat going up
I've been steadily loosing about 2lbs a week since Jan. Up until 4 weeks ago my bf% was dropping in line w/ the weight loss. Now in the last three weeks my bf% has been creeping back up. It's been bound to a range of 27.6 - 28.6 for the last month but weight has dropped from 254-248 in that same time. So I am loosing…

NSV - Being told I am inspirational
This morning at work someone told me I am inspirational. Did not hurt either that I am waring all new clothes since everything I owned was falling off of me.

Major NSV - Backpacking
First time in 7 years I've put on my backpack and busted some trail. For years I was an avid backpacker, hiker, camper, canoeist. Then 7 years ago I broke my leg in the backcountry and my enthusiasm wained. Now my younger daughter is getting the bug to lace up her boots and go walking. This weekend we did an 18 mile loop…

1/2 way to goal in 125 days
SW 330 BF 45% BMI 46 CW 263 BF 30.7% BMI 36.7 I've lost the equivalent of 5.57 12lb bowling balls. All of that plus this past weekend I had beer AND fried chicken!

NSV being noticed
A guy I don't even know at work today asked how I was loosing so much. I've only been at this company since Jan so the people here did not know me from before. This is someone I only see occasionally in the hall or men's room so for him to mention the loss is a pretty big deal.

100 days in
Today is my 100th day with MFP. I loaded the app while waiting for my breakfast at the Waffle House while on a road trip. I had tried to order what I thought would be a healthy meal but then realized it I ate it, it would kill me. I ate it anyway. If I had known how easy the MFP plan was i would have done it years ago. SW…

NSV - NEW PANTS!
All my jeans were falling off me so i went to get some new ones. I only wanted one pair since I know I'll grow out of them soon. I was all set to get some 46" (down form 48") but I walked out w/ 44"s.

BMI now on the chart
Fitbit and Runtastic both have BMI charts on the profile page that only go up to 40. Today I am finally 'on the chart' at 39.8.

Got my first 'Have you lost' last night
Took my daughter for her guitar lesson last night. Because of conflicting schedules it's been about 8 weeks since I had seen her instructor. He said he could tell I have lost.

Getting tired of eating
To hit my daily goal and macros + eat back my exercise calories I end up eating ALL DAY LONG. By cutting out the junk and eating cleaner I find it takes some much more physical time to consume that many calories. I never thought I would get so sick of shoving food in my face. It's like someone making me smoke a carton of…

First NSV - Hypertension resolved
Had my first Dr visit since starting and have been taken off my hypertension meds. They gave me a 'just-in-case' script and told me to monitor for the next few weeks and if it goes back up to get if filled but if not I can stay off the drugs. Also for my health plan I have to get blood work every year. Results came back…

http://mashable.com/2012/05/21/webike-bicycle-desk/ I was looking for a desk peddle set to burn a few extra cal at work and ran onto this little item. Pretty kewl idea.

Monster Mac
Heard on the radio today about McDonald's 'secret' menu. In some markets they have items that are not on the menu but are fully corporate acknowledged and sale-able items. For instance in Alaska you can get the McKinley Mac which is a Big Mac but instead of the regular 1/8lbs burger patties it's made with 1/4pounder meat.…

My inspiration (pic)
I have this pic on my desktop at work. This is me (left) in 1998. 210lbs. I had just finished a 100 mile backpack at Philmont Scout Ranch in the San DeChristo Mts. The man standing to my right is my good friend D1ck Austin. The meeting was quite by chance; neither of us knew the other would be at the Ranch that year. The…

Sodium
How do you keep your sodium in check. 2500mg a day seems almost impossible to do. I don't add any table salt to my food anymore and I'm still 2x over every day.

Super Bowl Sunday
So what is every one doing for the game tonight? We are basing a big part of our munchies on jumbo peel and eat shrimp (no butter). Very low cals and lots of protein.

Fried Chicken cravings
What do you do when you really want some fried chicken? It's not even the meat that I want but the greasy, salty, crispy fried skin. Usually I can ignore such nonsense and it goes away but the last several days I can feel Popeye's calling. For me it''s like being alcoholic. I know I can't have just one wing. If I start…

anyone else in Scouting and need to loose
Philmont, Northern Tier, and Sea Base programs all have strict height weight limits. Since 1998 I've done 9 High Adventure trips but I have not been physically disqualified since 2009. For my height I can't weigh more than 200 lbs to participate. These trips have been some of the best times of my life. I may have an…

help getting to my daily net cals after excercise
MFP is brand new to me. I had an epiphany on the road home from a recent vacation. I was eating breakfast at Waffle House and thought I had a relatively simple meal, that is until I added up all the cals, fat, and salt. Wow! Loaded MFP right there in the restaurant and have been logging everything since. Here is my issue,…
