New job, how do I balance?!

Did I really burn that much running?
So I ran for 40 minutes outside, up hill and downhill and flat places and I logged it and it said I burned over 400 calories! Help! How do I reach my goal?
Hello everyone! I am currently at 172 (32" waist) and I am 5' 10". My goal is to get down to 150 and a 28" waist. If I weight train 5 days a week along with an hour of cardio 3-4 days a week, will I get to my goal in 5 months? I'm not losing "weight" but I look thinner?
I notice my arms are a bit smaller as well as my legs and waist. The scale has only dropped a pound, does one pound really make that much difference?! (By the way I only have 22 pounds to lose to get at my goal weight of 150. I'm 5' 10")
