Weight training=ravenous appetite + fatigue?
Hi guys, I have lost about 25 pounds in the last year. I started with mostly cardio exercises. I have recently joined a gym and tripled (or so) my strength training. I feel like I just can't get enough to eat. Furthermore, I'm exhausted. This weekend I just could nap and nap and nap. I have increased my protein and my…

lying/cheating/exaggerating me
Okay, one of my goals on this site is to be totally honest. As I have entered calories and exercise, I notice, that almost unconsciously, I tend to slightly over-report how much I exercise and slightly under-report how much I eat!! :) Anyone else do this? Here's to honesty! Debbie

Which shoes for the Warrior Dash?
Hey guys-- For those of you who don't know, the Warrior Dash is a 5K with obstacles. I've run one 5K before. I'm a larger (175 lb) woman who has been running and I'm middle aged and deathly afraid of injuries. Here is my dilemma: I'm not wearing my running shoes to the Warrior Dash because they will get ruined. I can…

Goals for today?
Hey everyone... So what are your goals today? I usually meet mine, but I've been going over my cal limit by < 100 cals every day and today I'm going to be under! Other than that, I hope to burn > 200 cals (I think I'll do it). Best, Debbie

Stretching DVDs?
Hi all, I've been looking for decent stretching DVDs. More specifically, I want some variety in length, and some for pre-workout/running, and some for after. I saw a couple on Amazon, but they seemed to be exercises in and of themselves, and designed for Seniors. Thanks, Debbie

Probability of gaining it all back... and more
So, most data suggests that 80-90 percent of us will gain most/all/more weight back, once we have lost. I just read an article by an expert in the field who stated that “our bodies have a weight they want to be”. He cited a study where lean and fit people were asked to eat 5000 cal daily and still, they only gained minimal…

Singing NSV
Here's one: I used to be quite the musician in my younger years. Yesterday I was singing for a friend and I found I could hold the notes out for longer than I ever have (that I can recall)! I assume that all of my running/walking/working out, has had an impact on my lungs. WOOT! Deb

Vacation tips, and thoughts
So I recently went on a short (5 day) vacation. I mostly ate "okay" though I ate mindlessly two days of the five. I managed to exercise (only got to walk, but got in an hour a day) every single day. Even so, I gained and it took two weeks to get back to normal. Besides that, it was harder to run, when I got home, and it's…

Running Shoes
Well, I've been using some old cross trainers. I run enough that I probably ought to invest in some new running shoes. Also, my knees were hurting the other day. Any ideas what brand I should get? I'd like to spend under 100 though I know I won't get much for that... Best, Debbie

Fatigue and how many days a week to exercise?
Hey MFP folks, I had a question/thought and hoped to get feedback. I have been exercising 6 days a week, for 40 minutes (10 for weights and 30 at cardio). Additionally, I'm a single mom (truly single-- my kids don't go over to another parent's ever), and work a fairly stressful hospital job for 9 hours/day + commute. I'm…

Another frustrated post
Hi all, This is another frustrated poster who thinks she is doing a lot and the scale (both weight and BMI) seem to almost never change. In short, I exercise for 40 minutes, 6X/week, and I eat generally under 1400 cal—sometimes much less. I do “cheat” every Friday, by having two margaritas and some chips and salsa with…

BMI Scales
Does anyone have one? I bought a scale with one and I can't tell if it's very accurate. I would *think* my BMI would be changing more than it is... Debbie

Just need to do a little more!
I'm so discouraged. I've been exercising and eating less for a long time. Still I have hardly lost any weight. I'm on a 1 lb/week plan. My problem, I think (though I've been staying within the parameters of what myfitnesspal says I should do) is that I eat just a little too much and exercise just a little too little. I'm…

Wouldn't mind a few friends...
for online support. Please feel free to friend me. 44 yo, and I've lost about 15 pounds over the last 2 years. I'm taking it very slow and trying to exercise 30 min, 5-6 times per week, and eat about 1400/day. I want to aim for habits I can sustain. Best, Debbie

Long Journey
Hi All, My name is Debbie and about two years ago I decided I needed to get more healthy. I am 5'6" and weighed about 206 or so. Mostly, I don't eat too badly, but I'm slothful and my job is very sedentary. Importantly, I'm a truly single mom of a special needs child so finding time to exercise has been difficult. About…
