Small Plate, or Large Plate?
Time to tackle one of the super-polarizing questions. Do you use a small plate, or a large plate? Discuss. I use small plates, because a small portion looks more satisfying if it's not lost on a giant plate. Because I prepare mostly casseroles and skillet dinners with lots of vegetables, no starches and moderate…

I wish I had known . . . (or "Things that didn't work")
What have you tried that, on reflection, just didn't work? What are you doing differently this time? What didn't work for me: 1200 is not a magic number. You can lose weight and take in more than 1200 calories. Nothing *has* to be forbidden or "not on your diet". No "food cop" asking if I am "allowed" to have X food or Y…

Celebrating the Goal
How did you celebrate reaching your goal? I am nearing my target weight (3 to 6 months to go), and while I have taken care to give myself small (or not so small!) presents (and my roommate, who is also losing weight, has been super-awesome and given me surprise presents as well!), I am starting to think about the "end…

Day to day, however, I find that if I…

I lost weight, and *this* surprised me . . .
A reprise of another thread, but that one got too long. This surprised me: My necklaces had a different hang length. (It makes sense; I lost weight around my neck as well as other places, but I hadn't expected a change (and hadn't understood the inverse change as I *gained* the weight in the first place!))

Double Milestone Victory, and a NSV as well
I started using MFP in early July 2014. At that time I weighed 220 pounds, and had a BMI of 38%. 7 1/2 months later, I am down 60 pounds and my BMI is now 29.8% which means I am "overweight" and not "obese". My friend also surprises me with (mostly) token presents whenever I hit a "zero" (210 pounds, 200, etc.) 159.4 as of…
