I cant stop over-eating and I'm gaining rapidly. Halp?
It's kind of crazy, I lost over 20 kilo's and tracked my calories every single day on myfitnesspal for over two years and made heaps of friends on it etc, got super into fitness like cycling and running, ran a marathon and walking over 100k steps a week on my fitbit etc. But suddenly without warning I began to start just…

No loss, but things look better?
I've been back on the wagon with exercise for two weeks, eating 1600cal, lifting 3x a week and running or walking a few other days, and my body seems to be looking better, but my scales have literally only gone down 0.2kg. I weigh and measure all of my food and use a heart rate monitor for exercise. It's a bit…

What do you think about to keep you motivated while running a race?
What do you think about to keep you motivated while running a race? I thought of this, because I just looked at my race photo's from the weekend, and saw my nemesis looking sideways at me! an thought "Ohh he WAS trying to compete with me!" hahaha. Not really a nemesis, he was a lovely guy when we spoke a bit. It just…

Does your brain ever randomly attack you?
Lately (not something I've noticed that much previously) my mind seems to flicker to a memory from the past, which is weird, because I'm not seeing or being anywhere that would trigger a memory at the time, and the specific memories are not actually of experiences or something you'd think you would remember for years, but…

Hunger busting tips?
I've recently lowered my calories back down after eating at maintenance for a while and also carb loading for my Marathon last Sunday, so understandably I have been eating a fair bit and about 400+ grams of carbs for 4 days last week. But now, I'm struggling to stick to the calories big time. It seems like nothing!! Every…

How long to break in new running shoes?
It's now 15 days until my first Marathon, and my workout was just cut short by my runners hurting my right foot. Previous workout, they felt so hot and swollen on the toes of the opposite foot! If I get a new pair now, do you think it would be long enough for them to have broken in a bit before the race? I run 4 days per…

How to believe you can do it?
I have absolutely minimal self belief with my running, and it's starting to make training for a Marathon a bit stressful, and I don't think it's going to be positive for race day. For instance, before I ran a Half Marathon last year, I could not believe I could do it, even though I ran 16km in training and it went fine...…

Discrepancy between treadmill and activity tracker.
My watch (it's a Tom tom Multi sport cardio gps watch) shows differing distances and paces to the treadmill screen, every single time, despite starting the watch at the same time I get on it. Generally my watch says that I have run a further distance and also am running a faster pace than the treadmill says. About a year…

Friends who run!

Hi guys, just wanted to share this free chat forum, it's mostly Aussies but there are some international members as well. How often to foam roll?
I'm running 4-5x per week, never really gotten into using a foam roller until recently. The first time I did, I must have gone too hard because I needed a couple days off to recover from extra sore muscles. I found it unpleasant, so I gave up for a bit/kept forgetting to get it out after workouts. Having another go now,…

Just for fun: Crazy wishes!
Excluding the obvious one (wishing to snap fingers and lose weight/gain/maintain etc) what would you wish for if you could have three wishes relating to weight loss, fitness, diet etc? can be as crazy as you like! For me it would be: 1. To be able to design & produce my own workout clothes. 2. A fridge containing a never…

Are detoxes myths?
Are detoxes or diets where people eat certain things with the objective of attaining a detoxifying or cleansing effect on the body mythical/made up, money grabbing hokey, or do they really work? Not interested in trying, I just wanted to see what others think on this subject.

Looking for motivated, dedicated people!
Hey there :) I'm from Melbourne, Australia, and have been logging for around 170 days and I log every day. I'm not too far off my goal weight. Interests include Running (Training for a half marathon) Cycling, Walking, Hiking and generally anything outdoors, and I try and lift weights weekly as well. Quite a lot of people…

Should you have run the full race distance before the race?
I'm in week 7 of training for my first Half marathon (21.1km), and on my training plan the longest distance it goes up to is only 16km. So it would be an increase from 16-21, though also it tapers off 2 weeks before the race, with the last long run being 14.5km. Should I be fine with that? Or are you supposed to be running…

What are your best healthy tips?
I thought it would be interesting to share some tips for healthy lifestyle, diet, exercise and weight loss that you have picked up :) I'll add some more when I think of them, but heres some of mine: -Plan your meals on one day a week (Mine is Sunday, before the coming week starts) where you sit and plan what to cook for…

Monitoring macronutrients & macrominerals
In your opinion, in addition to carbs, fat and protein, which ones are the best/most important to feature in view on the main diary page? I'm curious as to what others have chosen, and why. On the diary settings, it only allows you to view some of these on your daily diary entries, the others are hidden from view and…

What to make with.....
Random thread idea! If you've got an ingredient and not sure what to do with it /what to cook it with etc, post here and others may be able to suggest ways they use it and or recipe ideas. I'll start one: What do you with black beans? (if you eat them)

What to do when weight lifting gets boring
Ugh. I don't know what it is, I just cannot seem to make myself do weights lately. I was/am doing Stronglifts 5x5 since May. All of this time, I have stuck with it religiously three times a week, and I enjoyed it a lot as I improved and have seen some improvements in my strength and look. A couple of weeks ago I dropped a…

Half Marathon training
How long do you think would be needed to train for a half marathon if you're currently only at the 5k level, and what is the best way to go about training? I'm wanting to complete a half marathon, and there's one in the city in mid October but I don't know if I'd be able to get to that level by then. Am I better to just go…

Am I eating too much rice?
I searched on here and Google about this already, but I couldn't quite find the answer I was looking for still. Anywho, I have been weighing my brown rice, uncooked. I cook about 60g each time, logging it as 214 calories because that's what the database comes up with for uncooked. The packet says a serve of uncooked rice…

Gaining weight only on stomach
This question is for a friend, so I will try to give as many details as possible. Male, 27. 178cm, 63kg. Currently eating 2600 calories per day and lifting weights. Minimal cardio (1 session weekly-around 2hrs of table tennis) Hoping to gain weight and muscle, goal weight of around 70kg. However, he said and I can see as…

How do you feel about fat pride?
I just read this article http://www.sbs.com.au/thefeed/blog/2014/05/26/fat-pride-growing-movement-people-looking-fat-acceptance What are your thoughts on fat pride? Do you think fat and healthy can go hand in hand? It seems to be an increasing (pardon the pun) movement at present. Personally, I don't know if I believe…

When to increase weight amounts?
Hi, I'm just starting out with the program, and I was a bit confused about what I read in regards to when to increase weights. Am I supposed to increase once I can lift a certain weight pretty easily? or sooner than that? Thanks

Do you eat back your calories from excercise?
I'm relatively new to MFP. I'm trying to lose weight, and I noticed that when you do log in a certain amount of exercise, your caloric limit for the day then increases. Are you supposed to eat all of those calories back? It seems to me that's the sensible thing to try and do, so I normally do that. Do you eat back all your…

Question about TDEE -20%
I'm eating at TDEE- 20%, which for me is 1593 calories a day. I put that I exercise 3 times a week. I realise we're not supposed to eat back any of the exercise calories on this method, but I just calculated how much I ate and exercised last week, and if I averaged it out, I would only be eating about 1305 a day! I feel…

Periods and weight loss
This thread might scare the men away :P but they're welcome to comment. Anyway, I was thinking...does anyone else find it a bit more difficult to keep up the healthy eating and exercise if they have their period? If so, what do you do to try and combat that? Anyone got any good tips? For me the whole period thing is a…

Adjusting calories
I'm struggling to work out how many calories I should eat. It's at 1200 by default. I am losing on that. However, the general consensus of all my reading in the past couple of weeks is that this is not really enough for my body, health wise. I want to make sure I'm eating enough to be healthy, and still lose weight. I'm…
