Starvation Mode
It seems there may be some truth to "starvation mode" after all. After moving to maintenance mode, I bumped my daily calories up about 20-25%, nothing else was changed and lo and behold, I started losing weight again after a 2 month plateau. I could still stand to lose 5 to 10 lbs, so I'm not complaining, and the extra…

Edamame?
OK, so I'm a bit adventurous when ti comes to trying new things. I found a bag of frozen "edamame" in the freezer. Hmm, these look like snow peas or string beans I thought. Although they tasted pretty decent, I had to look them up to find out exactly what I had just eaten, after I logged them of course ;) Lo and behold,…

Hot Damn! I Fit In Large Shirts
Wow! Coming from 2x and some 3x just two years ago, when I pulled a large off the shelf, my mind was telling me, "no way that little thing fits you" Well guess what "fat mind", you were wrong, it fit perfectly ;) I don't know if anyone ever noticed this or not, but there is like ten times more selection in the large rack…

Sardines?
Do you eat sardines? I think I had them twice in my life, when I was a lot younger, don't know why I don't eat them more. Perhaps it's the "Eww Sardines" comment you hear from everyone? In my never ending pursuit to find new, healthier foods, I found some today packed in olive oil and thought I would give them a try. Not…

Question On New Jeans
OK, I've pretty much met my goal and have a quick question on new clothes. I have not bought a new pair of jeans in a couple years, been living at the local thrift stores, knowing that whatever I buy won't fit in a few months, so why spend more than I have to, right? Anyhow, here is my dilema... I was wearing 42-44" waist…

So Much For Out Of Season Tomatoes
Right now I'm inching towards the end of our growing season up here in the mid-west and will soon no longer be able to go out to my garden and pick some great tasting, fresh, vine ripened tomatoes. Soon enough, I'll be relegated to heading off to the local super market to pick through the rock hard, tasteless tomatoes in…

Exercise NSV
I just ran a report on my last 30 days exercise and noticed... I burned on average, 500 calories, 27 out of the past 30 days. If you had told me that would be the case a year ago, I would have laughed in your face. If you are just getting started, keep plugging away, eventually it gets easier and... Then it becomes habit ;)

Runner's Question
What's an average runner's 5k time? I mean someone that's serious about running, but not an all out athlete. I've yet to crack the 30 minute mark, (31:35 today, maybe the tenth time I've ran it so far), still a bit of walking mixed in, but I'm inching my way towards running the entire thing without walking any of it in the…

OK, let me explain why this was so shocking to me before I tell the complete story. About one year ago I was wearing size 42 and some size 44 waist jeans and shorts. Before that there was a lot of the stretchy sweat pants we all love ;) No idea on my worst waist size to tell the truth. We are having a rummage sale here and…

I Did A Fricken Chin Up!
Yup, just one LOL When I first started this journey I weighed over 300 lbs and knew going in that they would be tough, and needless to say, there was no way I could do even a single one. That was over 2 years ago, a lot has changed for me since then. The other day I was in my workout area and noticed my old chin up bar…

Did This Ever Happen To You?
OK, so it was extremely humid here today and I was out on my brisk walk, trucking along on a record pace for me and I glanced down at my HRM and it showed my heart rate at 99%. First off, I was not out of breath, but it concerned me LOL I slowed down for a block or two and the rate didn't come down at all. So I was trying…

NSV!
I was at a wedding over the weekend and ended up sitting with an older couple, the guy being your typical, beer belly type. Nice couple though. When it came time for the cake, I turned my piece down and the guy turned to me and said, "a thin guy like you and you turn down cake?" LOL, if he only knew where I've came from…

Severe Plateau, But I'm Still Blessed
I got lucky... Even though I'm in a 4+ week plateau, this is the first one for me and it waited til I was oh so close to my goal weight. The 4 Hour Body and a Plateau...
Has anyone tried this yet? I'm in the midst of a month long plateau, just 10 or so pounds from my ultimate goal and have been trying the 4 Hour Body Diet the past 2 1/2 weeks and have still not been able to bust through. My cheat days are in excess, yet I'm still unable to bust through. I vary my workouts from day to day,…
