6 months Primal
For anyone interested in a Primal lifestyle, I wrote a blog post about my experience with it these past 6 months. Thought I would share - maybe it will do for someone what it has done for me. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/4milesat40/view/6-months-primal-179202 :) Amy

NSV - Shopping for clothes was actually fun! (Photo)
I used to cry in dressing rooms. Not anymore. I bought this outfit, and a few others. :)

NSV - Photo of me in my size 14 jeans!
Last year I was wearing size 28s (although let's be honest - I probably wore something with an elastic waist to Thanksgiving last year), so this is pretty cool. :)

You want me to make WHAT for Thanksgiving?
My parents - who are hosting Thanksgiving tomorrow - specifically requested that I make the stuffing. The stuffing. You know, the side dish WHICH IS MADE ALMOST ENTIRELY OF BREAD. "Hey Mom," said I, "You know that I don't eat bread, right?" "I'm not telling you to EAT it," said she, "just to MAKE it!" And I did make it…

Coffee?
So, when I started losing weight and getting healthy, I stopped drinking coffee, pretty much because I thought the caffeine, as a stimulant, wasn't healthy, and therefore had to go. (And don't say "decaf" to me - that's NOT coffee!) But lately... how do I put this delicately? - I've been missing the easy after-effect of…

Hi all!
I have been following the Primal Blueprint for about 5 months, and it has absolutely changed my relationship to food. Love being able to share the experience with others who are living or curious about this lifestyle. :) Amy

Best way to make butternut squash?
I got some at a farmstand yesterday, and I'd love to make it tonight, but I'm not sure how... Educate me, please! :) I'm thinking peeled, cubed, in a baking dish with butter... Is that right? And at what temp? For how long? Many thanks in advance... :) Amy

Party NSV! :)
So I went to a really fun housewarming party tonight, hosted by a friend-of-a-friend who I had only met once, before I had started losing weight. Also at the party was a woman who I knew casually - our kids were in the same community track program last Spring, and a few of the moms would walk the track while the kids were…

Just registered for my 1st 5K :)
As my username declares, I plan to run 4 miles on my 40th birthday, which is 3 months away. At the moment, my longest distance is 2.2 miles. So I started thinking that a 5K, at 3.1 miles, would be a good in-between step, and give me a goal that I could train towards that's closer than the birthday 4 mile run. So I found a…

215 days - 100.3 pounds lost (Photos)
It's just a number, and I'm not close to done yet, but I feel the milestone should be marked. And for those who will ask: I follow the Primal Blueprint (no grains, legumes, sugars, processed foods, etc.). - and I *love* it. I'm 3 weeks into P90X, but prior to that just did walking, jogging, elliptical-izing, and bike…

NSV: Some perspective
There was a possibility that I might have done my strength training workout at my parents' home today, so I packed up my DVD and weights in a box and put them in the car. I brought 2 10lb. weights, 2 8lb. weights, and 2 5lb. weights. When I came back home, and had to carry the box back to the house, I was struck by how…

87.7 pounds lost in 6 months - photos
When I started, I came to this thread all the time, looking for inspiration, and finding it. It's such an honor to now have some photos of my own to post here. They inspire me to keep going, and I hope that there's inspiration to be found in them for those that are here looking for some. :) 6 months ago today: Front Side…

New scale shows a higher number - why I'm taking the hit
So I knew that my scale was not really accurate. I would step on, get one number, then step off and right back on and get a totally different number. I would do this several times in a row and the numbers varied wildly - up to a 4 pound swing, every day. I always took the middle number, figuring that as long as I was being…

Celebrate Breast Pride Awareness! Come on, MFP-women! :)
Inspired by my beautiful MFP friend, Kristarablue, who posted a gorgeous new profile pic that shows off her awesome rack. I, of course, immediately commented on the awesomeness of said rack, and was saddened to hear that it was not one of many rack-appreciative comments. SO - I decided that we should all make sure we…

Question for the larger (or previously larger) MFP women
So how heavy is too heavy for the 30DS, or Zumba, or things of that sort? And/or do you have suggestions for some of those DVDs that are still somewhat hardcore, yet still doable or modifiable for those of us who are still on the large side? I'm talking the high 200s... I recently started C25K, and though I loved it, it…

Need a too-low-calorie intervention
I'll start with my admission - I have a hard time getting my head around the fact that I'm not eating enough, no matter how little I eat. But I don't want to be foolish or unhealthy, so I'm trying to do the research and figure out the right numbers. So I was reading someone's blog today about zig-zagging calories, and she…

Getting the Polar FT40 for Mother's Day :)
I've been wanting a heart rate monitor for a while, and have been doing lots of research. Last night I was about to bite the bullet and order it for myself - and then I realized that I could probably request it as a gift from my parents for Mother's Day! They're super-supportive of my efforts to get healthy, so they…

Anyone have a recipe for baked sweet potato fries?
I've got a sweet potato in my fridge and room in my food diary. Anyone have a good how-to for me? Thanks in advance... :)

G-rated NSV
My kids wanted Five Guys burgers for dinner tonight. I took them, ordered, and sat in the restaurant while we waited for the takeout smelling all those amazing smells... And when I got home I cooked my planned, healthy dinner. :) (I know a burger isn't the devil or anything, I'm just too early into this thing to be…

R-rated NSV ;)
Not quite x-rated, but a bit too grown-up for PG-13, so don't say I didn't warn you... My lover had told me he'd fantasized about eating chocolate pudding off my toes. So before he came over this weekend, I made a big bowl of it, and didn't so much as lick the drop that got on my finger when I brought the bowl to the sink.…

Is the calorie counter for exercise on MFP accurate?
I know I'm very heavy, but am I really burning 1,300 calories in 60 minutes on the elliptical? I'm a math-y kind of person - I like to calculate things, and I just want to know if the data is accurate. :)

Using MFP for a week - lost 15 pounds! :)
I downloaded the MFP iPhone app about a month ago, but didn't start actually trying to lose weight and get healthy until 8 days ago. I'd been trying to stir myself up to get started for months. Some background on what led to this: I have 2 amazing kids, and I just got through a really messy, long-fought divorce. As that…
