Hi All, when I was diagnosed two 1/2 months ago, my dr ran blood panel. My liver enzymes were 3-4 times normal. My doctor thought I might have fatty liver disease. Fast forward to this Monday. Weight Loss Motivation
Why are you trying to lose weight? For me, I want to control my diabetes and live an active life. I realized that I was sitting around a lot and not doing much. My husband runs a marathon each year and completed an Ironman triathlon. I was on the sidelines watching. Now, I am able to participate in more activities!

First A1C Results : )
Hi everyone. I got my first A1C results yesterday. After an initial reading of 9.4 on 1/16/14 (my youngest daughter's birthday)...my A1C was 5.3! I was hoping for under 5.5, but I wasn't sure I was going to make it. So psyched! Closer to being off meds (I hope).

Ok, I am eating a low carb diet in hopes of losing weight, controlling my type II and getting off medication! Problem is, I have very little appetite and the things I want to eat are too carby. Foods we love!
I figured if we have an avoidance thread we should have a foods we love thread! I just found these Joseph's pitas that have only 60 calories and like 12 grams of carbs (for a whole pita!). They are whole grain and I eat them with hummus for lunch. They are amazing and they don't seem to spike my blood sugar like other…
