  • I have lost over 67 since diagnosis. My fasting morning is around 85 now. Was 9.4 when diagnosed two years ago!
  • Great job (especially with the knee surgery)!
  • Congratulations! Great work!
  • I have been buying extra at about $50 a piece! It's worth it!
  • If you want a swift whack go to the diabetes.org community...they are more brutal ; )
  • I don't actually count my total. I eat my meter and know what affects my sugar more. I test about 9 times a day (I know a lot). However, I know some carbs don't affect my BS as much as others. (on Metformin ER 2 times a day 500mg each - no insulin) I try to keep my morning meal under 30g with fat. Snacks under 15…
  • Great Job! You are making great progress and leading a healthier life. It's already a win! Keep it up! Kerri
  • Thank you for sharing your story. You can do it. You deserve to be healthy and live a long, happy life. I think you should definitely see a specialist. Your doctor should be performing tests to monitor your diabetes. It can affect many body systems. I see a family practitioner, but she is very thorough. Do you live near…
  • You can do it too! I definitely have been working hard, but it's not unreasonable. Good luck on your journey! Kerri
  • Amber I eat about 1200 calories a day. I like almonds, cheese, beef jerky, Ezekial sprouted grain bread, any of the low carb breads (I love bread). I still am eating carbs, but I limit the grams. I eat a lot of fresh fruit like blueberries, strawberries, cherries, etc. I eat Kind bars (made of nuts/fruits/agave) for lunch…
  • Yum! I made mashed potatoes the other night and green beans with bacon and onions too! Very good! [/quote] I like making mashed potatoes with cauliflower and some laughing cow cheese. It's good!
  • I love these. I eat them with hummus. Also I eat low carb tortillas. Every morning I have a slice of Ezekiel sprouted grain bread with vegan butter. It makes my 2 hour around 105, so I love it!
  • Yeah I eat healthy fats like almonds and avocados. I just don't seem to want to eat too much. Never had this problem before! Luckily my BS is under 100 most of the time now, so I am eating some carbs and it seems ok still. I had a burger and lima beans for dinner and my 2 hour was 117. Not bad considering it was almost 40…
  • Sounds like you are doing great! Just keep jogging/walking until you can build a solid amount of time. I jog slow, but I am up to 3.6+ miles now. Slow and steady wins the race!
  • Great Job!
  • Everyone is different and foods create different results in different people. My fast BS had been about 105-110 for the past 3 months. The past two weeks, it's been in the 80-90 range. Have not changed my diet, but I have lost a lot of weight so far. I eat a slice of Ezekial sprouted grain bread for breakfast with vegan…
  • I had surgery a month ago and couldn't really eat the first few days. I bought some smoothies (green) that were high in carbs, but I only drank 1/2. They tasted really good and I checked my sugars after eating them and they were ok...
  • I too find it reduced my appetite. From the day of my diagnosis, I started eating healthy. I think that the metformin helps and I have to plan my meals and snacks because I am rarely "hungry" anymore...
  • I love the Joseph's low carb bread items. They all have about 12g of complex carbs each, and they are so filling. Also, I love eating homemade kale chips. I bought some low carb ice cream and I put it in a measuring cup and eat it sometimes. It seems to not raise my blood sugar too much!
  • I love South Beach caramel chocolate nut bars(100 calories) and like 12g of carbs. I also eat 100 calories of almonds with it.
  • Kama, I was officially diagnosed three months ago. I had gestational diabetes, but I was in denial about developing full blown diabetes. I wish I had taken better care of my body...My adoptive dad died from diabetes related heart disease at 60. As soon as they told me I had diabetes, I changed my diet and started…
  • I training for my first 5k marathon relay leg (5 weeks away). I have lost weight in the past by running/walking. At one point I could run 7 miles. Now I alternate walking/jogging to build my time. On the treadmill I was jogging 30 minutes, but when I switched to outside, I could hardly run a mile : ( Keeping up with it.…
  • Great job! Congratulations! 5.5 is great!
  • Wow amazing job! I was diagnosed three months ago and I hope my numbers are this good! 5.0 is awesome!
  • Great Job! That is amazing and will make a real difference in your health! Kerri
  • I hope yours are normal too! It was a big relief for me. I think there is some relationship between liver issues and pancreatic issues. I'm not sure which comes first, but better levels means better health!
  • You are doing great! Weight loss is great, but so is just being healthy. Plateaus sometimes come, but I find it's usually when I am really close to my goal weight (I've yoyoed in the past). I was diagnosed in January with an A1c of 9.4. I just had surgery and all of my bloodwork was normal after 2 1/2 months eating nicely.…
  • I love carbs too! I found Joseph's low carb/cal pitas. They have 60 calories and like 8 grams of carb for a whole pita! I eat one with hummus for lunch almost every day. They also make tortilla wrappers that are 80 calories and 12 grams of carbs each. I pretty much have adjusted to replacing crackers, chips and breads with…
