Eating back exercise calories
I'm just wondering what people's experiences are with eating or not eating back exercise calories? Does anyone find that if they eat them back, they don't lose? Or if you don't eat them back, you don't lose? I know the science and reasoning behind it all so I'm not asking for advice on whether or not you should eat your…

People who say "I can't afford to eat healthy" or "Healthy e
You hear it so many times, people saying that they can't afford to eat healthy, it's too expensive. I've even heard it on here, someone saying that healthy eating is too expensive because a bag of apples is 3/4 times the price of a bag of chips/crisps and it's not the only time I've heard people one here say it. Nevermind…

Anyone else 5ft 9in?
Just wondering if anyone else is 5ft 9? If so, would you mind posting your body shape and what clothing size you were at different weights? I'm just intrigued to see how others compare size wise at different weights in comparison to myself.

Looking for advice
So I've spent the past few months faffing about and I've not lost anything, grr! Problem is I get married in just 21 weeks and my wedding dress is currently too small. I was losing weight well so took a chance but went off track and have wasted time. I measured the dress and myself today to assess the damage and just what…

Healthy low calorie snacks?
Just wondering what people have as healthy snacks that are fairly low calorie? I'm having quite a lot of fruit and want to lower that a little because of the sugar content, even if it is healthier sugar. Any suggestions?

Any recipes that use strawberry whey protein...?
I've seen lots of tasty recipes that use whey protein to bump up the protein, like banana bread etc. I've only got strawberry whey protein at the moment and can't think of anything that would work with strawberry. Anyone got any suggestions?

Gain on the scales the morning after an intense workout?
I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed that the day/morning after an intense workout, that uses weights, they see a gain on the scales? I do Kettleworx using a 4/5kg kettlebell and I seem to. As of Saturday morning, I was down 2.5lbs since I weighed in on Tuesday and then on Saturday I did the Kettleworx Cardio…

Calorie cycling / zig zagging - any thoughts or advice?
At the moment I just do straight calorie counting, MFP gives my 1540 a day to lose 2lbs but I try to stick to around 1400 after exercise. I've seen before about calorie cycling but I've never actually tried it. I guess it's similar to JUDDD but doesn't go so low calorie. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it before…

Why a Polar HRM over a cheap alternative?
I seem to have lost the chest strap to my HRM *sob* I can't possibly go without one too long so if I don't find it by the weekend, I'm going to get a new one as the watch is in my gym bag but the strap isn't, so wondering if it fell out at the gym or something. I was considering a Polar FT4, which is £50 but then I could…

Database entries... incorrect sodium, how to get it right.
Don't get me wrong, I love MFP and I wouldn't have lost almost 40lbs without it so I'm really grateful for this site but there's one thing that really gets to me... database entries. More specifically, wrong entries on the database. Even more specifically wrong sodium content on the entries. Personally, too much sodium =…

Good post gym breakfast whilst on the move?
I'm starting back on placement soon (I'm a student teacher) and am planning to do the gym three times a week in the morning before I get to school. So I'll be aiming to get to the gym when it opens at 7am and then having an hours workout. Problem is, breakfast. I don't really like eating before I go to the gym beyond…

Not eating below BMR.. exercise calories.. questions!!
So I've heard quite a lot of people say about not eating below your BMR. Now, as I have quite a bit to lose, I'd be fine with eating less than my BMR (1900 calories) it seems, from what I've read, but I've seen a few suggestions that have said that I shouldn't go below the BMR for my goal weight (1683 calories). If I did…

C25K as part of a gym routine?
I'm joining up at the gym today (hurray I've missed it!) and want to do the C25K programme. I'm used to fairly intense exercise (30DS, turbo jam etc) but I've never really done much running. I like to plan out my gym sessions before I go so that I have an idea of what I'm aiming for. Sometimes it'll be a certain routine…

Recipe: Crispy Coconut Chicken (366 calories for a generous
I thought I'd share this recipe as I altered the usual recipe to make it lower carb without breadcrumbs using coconut instead as I was going to make it for someone on a low carb diet but didn't in the end. Tried it tonight anyway and it was really tasty! Serves 4 600g of chicken breast (4 breasts) 80g dessicated coconut…

Blueberry pancake (with whey protein) Recipe
I've been working on a pancake recipe using whey protein and I've FINALLY managed to, I think, perfect it. Well, I'm sure it could still get better but they're good now so I thought I'd share. 30g porridge oats 20g wholemeal flour (will try 10g too, see if that's still enough but does need at least some) 1 scoop vanilla…

What could I use instead of butter to stick oats together?
I'm playing around with a low calorie, high protein cheesecake recipe and I've made 3 tonight with 3 different bases but they're still 280, 304 and 312 calories each and I want it a little lower than that. I reckon I could use a third less cream cheese, which would save 35ish calories. The 280 and 312 ones had 10g of light…

Do you make your own whey protein recipes?
I want to play around and come up with some recipes using whey protein but I don't really want to waste it if they go wrong. Already lost a few scoops from that! So I was wondering, if you play around and come up with your own whey protein recipes, are there any rules that you follow? Like substituting x for y. Or using a…

Eating back exercise calories and margins of error
I'm going to give eating back exercise calories a go, see if it helps with my losses. I'm just not sure how many of them to eat back. I know that I should probably eat as many back as possible but my HRM could overestimate my calories, though MFP and my HRM are often fairly similar with their estimates. So I was wondering…

How to still lose weight whilst exercising?
For the past 5 weeks I've been doing the Kettleworx programme. So I've done a cardio, core and resistance kettleworx workout each week and on 2 or 3 of the other days, I've done a cardio workout such as turbo jam or cardio box. My losses while I've been doing this have slowed right down, which I know is likely because of…

Will protein in a mixture denature overnight?
I used to do a diet which involved shakes and I remember them saying that once made up, they had to be consumed straight away because the vitamins and minerals in them denatured otherwise. So I was wondering, if I made up a mixture for something, such as pancakes, using protein whey powder, would it denature if I stored it…

Anyone help me improve my protein pancake recipe?
I had a look at protein pancake recipes online and a lot had things like flaxseed and stuff in them that I don't have so I tried to have a play around and come up with my own recipe. This is what I ended up with: 1 scoop (30g) of strawberry whey protein 3 egg whites 30g jumbo porridge oats 2tsp sweetener 10g wholemeal…

Quick, easy high protein breakfasts?
I try to eat a decent amount of protein but the meal that lets me down is breakfast. At the weekend it's fine, I'll have poached eggs or something but during the week when I'm up at 6.20am and out of the house at 7.30am, having the time to have something like that is difficult. I often have a smoothie (homemade) and drink…

Using wrist weights - worth it?
I do Turbo Jam which is a dancy/kickboxing type cardio workout 3 times a week and Kettleworx 3 times a week. Turbo Jam is lots of punching and kicking and I was wondering about getting wrist weights for it. Does anyone use wrist weights? Would you recommend them? Not sure just how much of a difference they're meant to make.
