Bizarre Foods with "The Walking Dead"!
Not sure I should be eating breakfast while watching last week's episode of "The Walking Dead".

What foods keep help you keep under your allowance?
There are so many that don't that I started thinking of what works for me. 1. Oatmeal (Love the stuff with a dab of brown sugar and skim milk) 2. Bran flakes 3. Apples (Little rascals are filling) 4. Lettuce salad (very satisfying and even with a bit of lite dressing it's not bad on the calories)

Headsup to my MFP Pals about the Gym
This is gross so read no further if you are squeamish! I was at the Gym Monday doing my weights and cardio. After lifting some light weights for a bit I hit the treadmill for a little cardio for 35 minutes. Then it was on to the stationary bike. Where I did 15 minutes. Now after I work out I always clean the machine. Once…

Maybe the smartest thing I ever done
When I first decided to start losing weight I didn't even know if I could. However, out the gate I told myself this would take 2 to 3 years. Just that simple decision has saved an immense amount of frustration.

I won't be suing White Castle!
This is just a reminder for those who have lost weight and motivation for those who are just starting. Your belly no longer touches the steering wheel. You find clothes that actually fit. You don't pass out from tying your shoes. Your back doesn't hurt from doing dishes. And you won't be suing White Castle because you…

Having an internal debate
So I thought I'd make it an external debate and see what spills out. Everyone has noticed I've lost weight. Just Saturday I picked up a lady friend and she said I see you're still losing. Then added I have friend who lost a 100 lbs. and then gained it back. Uhg! I hear those comments quite a bit these days. You see them on…

Moments of Learning, Lifetime of Wisdom
Now that I'm a bit older <G> I think back to those precious moments when some one makes a quip that sticks with you over your life. I had an interview this morning that brought back several of those rare bits of wisdom that I received over my life. Things that I never really understood the value of at the time they were…

Have you noticed the kind of people we have on the boards?
Most are highly driven and well educated. Many are committed to goals and follow through. Just wanted give some recognition.

Walking, Why it's my favorite exercise.
As if you would care. LOL I hit the gym 2 to 5 times a week. While I'm there I lift a few weights and then hit the cardio. Now cardio consists of the Elliptical, Treadmill, Stationary bike, and rowing machine. All good. I just plug my earphones in and drift off to a degree. Though I seem to chronically watch the distance…

9 lb. swing
I hate to say it but last week my weight shot up nearly 6 pounds, from 269.4 to 275. I've been through testy periods before and have realized that if I stay the course, eating right and exercise, I will be okay. I have learned to trust MFP over these many months. It's a proven formula. I told Mom yesterday that even though…

I can jog!
I started exercising again in January 2010 at a whopping 350 lbs. No way could I jog or run. Heck I had to make sure I had both feet under me to get out of the jeep. I've been pretty consistently exercising since that January. When I started out on the treadmill I couldn't do more than 2.5 mph. I tried 3 mph at first but…

What I thought
When I lost my first 10 lbs. I thought well that's something. Not really all that enthusiastic about it since I had to lose 165 lbs. in total. Then when I had lost 30 lbs. I thought that's good. I couldn't tell the difference. I knew at that point I had to probably get to 60 lbs. lost before I even could tell. Still…

Where's my water?
I was out with a friend having dinner. We were catching up on a bunch of things. This guy is one of the busiest guys I have ever met. He's always balancing investing, full time work, relationships, and often part time jobs. So we're dining and talking. Seems he's trying some type of multiple level marketing thing. He's…

Passing the Canned Fruit Aisle
After a workout a couple of days ago I thought I would head to the grocery to grab some spinach for a salad. It's my latest thing. Then of course it's never one thing. So I grabbed some bananas and an orange. Then I check out the rest of the store. Not sure what else I dropped in the cart. Then I passed the canned fruit…

Relentless Pursuit
This may seem off topic. However I believe everything is related to everything else. If I didn't understand effort I would not have lost the weight I would have lost. I don't think it's ironic that my weight loss journey started with understanding the effort I put into the following. I was laid off in late 2008 and still…

Not bad work for an Accountant
The AC has been wimpy and folks it's hot! I could take it no more. So I call the guy that remodeled my bathroom hoping for a bargain or at least a name of a trusted AC guy. He gives me the name of a guy he calls honest. Which actually the guy was. I call the AC guy. He asked if I had cleaned the cool hair return filter…

Promised I wouldn't delete people from my friends list
So I won't. Well unless they are rude several times. Which has never been a problem. Still I have so many who really don't participate. Eh, that is okay. I promise to them I will be there if they need encouragement, advice (Such as it is), or some ideas (Again such as it is). However, I don't think I will be commenting on…

Decided to shake up my exercise a bit or was that a bit much
I spend a considerable amount of time on the treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bike. Then I really enjoy long walks/hikes out doors. I've been doing this exercise thing since January 2010. It started out slow or should I say pitiful. I remember jumping on the StairMaster for 5 minutes. Then slowly stepping off and…

As it turns out!
True story btw. I had a phone interview yesterday with a company in yesterday. The guy said we really prefer someone with a GPA of 3.2. Well My GPA for my B.S. was 3.11 and 3.12 for my Master. So I told him when I was working on my Bachelor degree I was having terrible marriage problems. Then when I started working on my…

For my MFP friends, Chicken and Brown Rice Pic
For aesthetic balance I added a Roma Tomato. It filled out the plate and of course was very delicious.

The Great Potato Chip Incident
Back in the day when my kids were very young, maybe 9 to 12, I had a penchant for BBQ Potato chips. I don't know why I just did. These days I don't think I've had any in several years. We use to go to parks and playgrounds on weekends after I would pick them up from their mom's place. I had been devouring those things for…

And see your future!
My mom gave me a rotisserie a couple of years back. It's like new. So I've decided I should finally use this contraption in the near future. So on another site I asked for recipe suggestions. One guy said start with a chicken. I buy a whole chicken. I tell them I'm not sure what it weighs having failed to look and too lazy…

French Fries are Vegetables Right!
Well I haven't had French Fries in probably 6 months. I've made home made baked fries. Seems they are so much lower in calories. I use to live off of fries, hamburgers, and Pizza for weeks at a time. It was just so easy. Hungry? Well burger biggie has it already made. Things have changed. I seem to need my fruit and fresh…

I will never understand earphones use outside
I often go for walks and hikes. I love the outdoors. When I'm out I look for critters, listen to the sounds of nature, and watch the people doing whatever they do. I also like to hear when a bike or pedestrian approach. Then of course if I cross a street I like to hear an auto approaching. So I never understand how you can…

Tipping Point!
I'd like to hear from folks who were so overweight that exercising seemed impossible. How did you start and what were your thoughts.

Chicken & Brown Rice, my own concoction
First I do this in the slow cooker. So it takes a long time. I use 6 to 8 chicken thighs with bone and skin. The reason being is the skin adds juices and flavors. Yeah it's healthier without the but the calories still are not real high. The rest of the ingredients: Fresh carrots 2 -3 cups Fresh Celery 1 to 2 cups Onions:…

Encouragement for those starting an exercise program
I started or actually restarted exercising in January, 2010. Now I have been a desk jockey for about 20 years. Several times I have done some pretty consistent exercising but then something would come along and I would fall off the wagon. I first signed up with a gym. There I would work out with some weights but mostly it…

Gardening
There are two gardens. This one I had dug after digging the first one and realizing I needed more space. First one dug. I tore down the center fence after putting up a surrounding fence. Garden with fence up and old fence torn down. Following pictures are from last years bounty. Salsa. Corn, Green Beans, & Tomaotoes…
