First Time in My Life
I went for a run for the first in my life this morning. At first I felt conspicuous. Then I felt victorious. No one stared or called me names. Rather, it seemed people I encountered waved and smiled. It was surreal. It's amazing to feel my body getting stronger and my mind and spirit's reflection of it. I'm becoming who…

Two NSVs - what are yours from today?
I had two remarkable NSVs and I'm really proud of them both. 1. I bought two tops in an XL size today when at several points in the not so distant past I had to purchase 3X. (Looking forward to the day I can shop for my whole body in misses - I won't know what to do with myself with so many choices!) 2. For the first time…

What's your hypothyroid story?
I'm kicking off the group with this (seemingly) simple question. For me, being hypo means fighting an uphill battle with my weight and fatigue. And, as I get older, it becomes more and more important to win the battle! I was diagnosed with thyoid disease in 1994, after being in a depressed/tired state and gaining over…

Looking for info on c-sections and weight loss - HELP!
I've had three c-sections; for all of them I was overweight. I'm finding the one place where the fat is not really coming off is right above my c-section incision. It's ridiculous! I'm fitting into much smaller sizes on top, but am not doing the same on the bottom half. Has anyone else experienced the tummy area not going…

OOPS! Is my slip showing? NSV
A bit silly but had to share. Apparently I need to take in my slips. As I was walking into a store I noticed my reflection in the door window, and as I was admiring my soon-to-be svelt figure, I realized my slip was hanging down about four inches below my skirt! Good grief! Embarrassing, but neat at the same time.

Need advice on SCALES
Okay - I have a fairly expensive scale, yet I don't trust it. When I weigh, I almost always weight twice to make sure I got a good reading. Every time it has a different reading that the first, so I end up weighing a bunch of times and then sort of averaging the number. We have textured tile flooring - could that be the…

Victories!
Let's concentrate on some positive results that we've experienced so far on our quests for health: 1) Even with only a 15 lb weight loss, I definitely have more stamina when going up stairs and during other physical activities. I work for a large university and don't get nearly as winded making a trek across campus. 2) My…

Tools for Our Arsenals - Restaurants
I don't know about everybody else, but for me, eating out is something I look forward to as well as something that happens fairly often in my life, whether it's the weekly date with the hubby or an impromptu lunch meeting. What are your favorite healthy-option restaurants? Here are mine: Panera Chick-Fil-A Jason's Deli I…

Anyone battling hypothyroidism with 100+ lbs to lose?
Hello - I've been a 'silent' member of MFP for a couple of years but have decided to become more vocal, now that I've decided to also become more vigilant about losing weight. Hypothyroidism has been a real stumbling block for me over the past two decades. I have no real thyroid function, which makes it very difficult for…
