Runners-Hard short runs while increasing mileage?
I currently run Monday/Wednesday/Saturday. 3 miles on Monday/Wednesday, then increasing my long Saturday run every week, tacking on about a half mile each time. This last Saturday, I hit 10 miles. Normally, my 3 mile runs would be cake, I can run the entire thing in about 30 minutes. On my long runs, I stop every 3 miles…

Calories In <<<< Calories Out Question
Kind of a stupid question but I need some help. =P Between that and the saying "Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym." After reading a lot on here and other resources, I am aware to lose weight, it's all about calories in being less than calories out, depending on your BMR and stuff. So if you eat 1500 calories of…

"Dieting Mistakes."
This is in quotes because for many of us, this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. Mistakes also in quotes because I'm always learning and will probably continue to make and learn from mistakes but I gotta know.... What are some of the mistakes you've made with "dieting" in the past? The very first mistakes I made was…

Need help/suggestions on changing things up a bit.
Hey guys, could use your expertise. I've been at this whole lifestyle change for about 3 months now. The first month, I dropped like it was hot. Second month, a bit slower, but steady. This month has been extremely slow. I've only dropped about .25 of an inch around my belly pooch. Nothing anywhere else, and weight has…

How much strength training do you pros recommend?
So I'm pretty good when it comes to cardio, and I do incorporate some strength when I do cardio. (Treadmill, interval training, high inclines) I just wanna know how much/long strength training do you guys recommend in order to tone your body and keep that lean muscle mass? I do push-ups, various crunches, and planks…

Eating out and the "Lighter choices."
It seems like wherever I go, they offer a lighter choice menu that usually contains 750 or less calories, but the sodium is through the roof. Just a pet peeve I have. I feel like I can never eat out during the week because even the lighter choices are obnoxious.

n00b question.
I saw someone post on here that you can't lose fat and build muscle at the same time. Whhhaaaa? Why is this/how does that work? I do both cardio and strength training 4-6 times a week, to me, it makes sense I would be "burning" the fat and putting on muscle.

Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name.
Hey everyone, (kudos to anyone who got the subject reference) I've been using MFP app for a while (on and off) as a way to count calories, but I never realized they had a community until now, and I do a heck of a lot better reading other people's success stories. (I was also creeping through some of the posts here and it…

Running/Jogging vs. Interval Training
I ALWAYS hear mixed things on this. Back in October, I started this program that brought me up to 45 minutes of straight running, (treadmill, 4.5mph, 2% incline) then walk for 15 minutes at 3 mph. I enjoyed the accomplishment I felt after I would do all that, but I also somewhat dreaded going to the gym. Not…
