Lifting is strengthening my SPIRIT!
My body is getting stronger, but what has really surprised me about starting a lifting program is how many aspects of my life are improving. I started NROL4W about a month ago. I have pretty big social anxiety issues, especially around people I don't know, doing something new. My biggest fear in life is (was) doing…

The best things about being single
I recently ended a long-term relationship. I am fascinated by my new-found freedom! Mostly little things, but there are some benefits! Tonight's Best Thing: eating grapes in bed at 12:30am reading and no one can say a damn thing!

Deadlifted for the first time today....
After watching form videos on Youtube for about 6 months and worrying about doing it wrong infront of a ton of people, I bit the bullet. It. Felt. AWESOME. I just did the bar, but it felt so good to have the first-time jitters done with. Also, an hour later, I signed a lease on an apartment I wanted wicked bad. Unrelated,…

MFP Peeps activate! (wahwah breakup)
I know better than to get into details here, not that I care to anyways. But I broke up with my boyfriend of 4 years this morning and it SUCKS. It was the right decision, but that doesn't make it any easier. I just feel overwhelmed because it was his house, so now I have to find a new place that is wheelchair accessible…

Epiphany while buying running shorts
I just started wearing shorts last summer for the first time (I'm 29). I have always had bigger thighs, no matter what my weight was. I remember being IN THIRD GRADE and refusing to wear a pair of pants because I thought they made me look fat. I have always been super self conscious of my legs and even when I was wearing…

Ran my first 5k Race!
I just ran my first 5k road race and I couldn't be more pleased! A year ago I couldn't run a whole 5k, and today I ran my fastest time ever: 35:12! Whoo hooo! I placed 10 out of 18 in my division and I feel on top of the world

NSV: Shattered my best time for a mile!
My previous best for a mile was 10:53 . Last night I ran a mile in 9:13! Not bad for a formerly obese asthmatic!

NSV longest run ever!
Today I ran 5 miles without stopping. Previously, my longest run was 3 miles, and I figured to just go for it today. Feelin pretty proud today! :drinker:

New shoes = AMAZING run!
I bought some new running shoes the other day, Merrell m-connect series Barefoot style. I tried them out for a short run yesterday after wearing them for a couple days to get used to the feel. This run was by far the best run I have ever had. I always suspected that my old shoes were a bit of the problem, although part of…

I ate half of a large pizza today...
...and it was AWESOME!!! The diet coke was great too  I'm glad that I finally realized that this is a LIFEstyle change, and therefore must be tolerable and enjoyable long term. I remember when I used to torture myself by only eating Lean Cuisines and only drinking bottled water. I'm burning off the excess…

Recovering from shoulder surgery
I had my shoulder repaired two weeks ago, and have gotten back into some bad food habits. Obviously I am limited in the amount of excersize I can do for now, but walking and stationary bike are fairly doable for short periods of time. I'm looking for tips from people who have been through any surgery. Staying away from…

NSV... OMG I just fit into a Small dress!!!
Hehehe! My boyfriend and I were on a date last night, and decided to swing through Kohl's. I saw a cute dress I wanted to try on, but they only had a Small and an Extra Large. I usually wear a Medium, and sometimes Large depending on the designer. For some reason I decided to try on the small and IT FIT!!! I didn't end up…
