Fructose Malabsorption
Anyone else suffer from this? It's a new diagnosis for me, although I have always known my body didn't tolerate sugar. A trip to the GI doc for a celiac test uncovered this. I am doing a Whole30 without FODMAPs (with intention of reintroducing one at a time to see what I tolerate) and yesterday I ate a banana - which is in…

Has anyone done a Whole30?
I am considering it to help me get back to low carb/paleo. Can I really give up sugar? I am dying thinking about it - even though it gives me food baby in the same way gluten did.

Ideas!
Okay - I am buckling down. I am doing my meal planning and looking for ideas. I know I am making a big batch of n'oatmeal (paleo recipe of vanilla, banana, coconut milk, chia and walnuts) help me with some plan-ahead, low-carb lunches??

Portions
How do you all handle portion control? What I used to do (until today) was grocery shop for whole foods, not so ironically AT Whole Foods. Then, I'd eat them and count the calories after, track them, then stop eating when I ran out...or not. Often, on Sundays, I'd organize them into individual servings so they were ready -…

Sunday Food Day
Hi everyone - have you guys figured out that sticking to a meal plan is easier when you get the prep out of the way? It took me a while. In fact, sometimes life gets in the way and I skip it. Know what happens? I eat things that I shouldn't. I do my weekly meal planning and grocery shopping on Saturdays, and then Sundays I…

How many meals do you eat?
Today was a TERRIBLE food day for me! I had a coffee for breakfast - didn't even finish it, and then for dinner I had a salad with grilled chicken (we had a family dinner date and the salad was so small!) I even ate a half a side of loaded mashed potatoes. I am not beating myself up over this...but I need to think more.…

Shoveling!
So, I live in the Northeast. Specifically a belt of CT that keeps getting dumped on. Over the last 2 weeks, we have had about 30" of snow. Yesterday I burned 300 cals just from shoveling! I could have let my brother-in-law handle it with the snowblower when he got home, but I wanted the extra workout. What region are you…

Water is your friend!
“Eating better" means drinking better, so avoid the empty calories in juice, soda, and especially alcohol. If you're thirsty, drink water—it's really the only thing that quenches your thirst anyway. Plus, your body needs to be properly hydrated in order for you to excel in your workouts. How to cut out bad liquid calories:…

Low Carb Goodness
My body is happiest without carbs...the bad carbs. Unlike others, I do believe there are bad carbs. The carbs that don't grow out of the ground are bad. Flour doesn't grow - it is a processed food. Once I was forced to go gluten free, I was forced to do a lot of research, studying, if you will. I know this won't work for…

WYSIWYG...working on losing 50+ lbs in the real world
I have been on MFP for 3 years and just used it on and off until recently. I am trying to log daily. I have made some progress in an accountability group over the last few months, so I started one here. I called it "40 is the new 20" because I turn 40 in less than a month. I am also not your cheerleadery type - just what…

What's your favorite healthy recipe?
Since I follow a gluten-free/almost paleo diet, some of my recipes aren't considered "healthy" by calorie counters. I don't advocate for or against any diet because everyone is different and so are our bodies. Tonight I made seared pork chops with creamed spinach, mushrooms and shallots. This isn't paleo because of the…

Working and Cooking dinner
I work from home, but the family shows up 5:30 and wants to eat (that's when my work day is technically ending). I do a lot of Sunday prep. Slice, dice, chop, cook, prepare, organize, plan. Some days I think my life revolves around dinner! How do you get meals made with whole foods put on the table after working a full day?
