Good afternoon everyone – the morning flew by… gym, grocery store, clean-up, computer project etc. Lunch was: Haddock (Baked), Asparagus Tips, Spaghetti Squash, soy splash, Rosemary, fresh, parsley, paprika, fine chopped Garlic, reduced sugar ketchup, Lemon fresh…

    i198rwvdqkxq.jpg

Wait for Jean to get home to head out for a 2nd walk. The band for tonight’s outdoor concert cancelled and rescheduled for the 3rd week of May. Weather is cold right now with high winds and temps will be in low 30’s late tonight – not sorry it was cancelled LOL.

Annsie – That’s sounds like one awesome transformation. The way you describe it now – I’ll take it on your word alone. :D . In our area homes are moving pretty fast and people are getting good prices, but then you have to think wherever they move to they’ll be paying a good price for the new home. ..

NOTE: just saw your follow up post – YIKES!!!!! I would hate that view. We have 1 house in the neighborhood that has a disastrous yard and overall poorly maintained. I always thank God it is next door to us.

Jackie – Thanks on the bird photos. Like Connie, we enjoy observing them and I was fortunate they opted to make our doorway their home. LOL. I’m not sure Sabrina could scare anything away…she is not the boldest of cats.

Lin – It will be interesting to see how the sale by owner in your neighborhood goes. We do pay attention to what happens in our neighborhood and nothing lasts for long. For sale by owner can go either way depending upon location, economy etc. In a tough economy a realtor can be a big help and properly selling by owner can get tricky. Hope your eye doctor appt went well.

Barbie – Glad you get some neighborhood birds too! And the bird feeder / rats situation makes a lot of sense. Agree with your housing comment concerning comparisons and pricing. Some people can be very unrealistic and attach emotion not fully understanding the buyer might not care etc. When we sold our last home, I had to stop by 2 days later – they had already torn up flooring and were remodeling.

Gotta sign off now… Jean should be home any minute. She brought her friend (86 yrs old & no car) to get her hair done and then they were going to stop for pizza….

Have a great afternoon. Bob :)

Another unusually cold day so I got the pooches ready for our walk early in order to miss any crowds visiting the local woods. Perfect timing as few about and I strolled while both dogs did lots of sniffing because it’s months since we were there. I then drove on to a farm supply store for a few items where outside they had shelves full of containers growing young veggies. I found a tray of celery plants that had been reduced 75%, probably because they hadn’t been watered properly and a couple were struggling. Luckily I was watching at the checkout as the store assistant gave it a cursory glance before scanning the barcode so when I returned to my car I studied the receipt and saw the full price and no sign of a discount. Back inside I went to obtain the refund! The young plants are mostly sitting up after a good soak so fingers crossed!
The builders have today skimmed the first layer of render on to the dining room walls so it’s taking shape and before they headed home I checked if I’m still wasting my time washing all surfaces in the kitchen just to get covered in more dust. Some dust to follow but not nearly so bad as it has been so I’ll see what I can achieve in the morning before I get my hair cut... finally!! Another bank holiday weekend so 3 peaceful days... Dave’s words, not mine!

Little Storm is doing well copying it’s mums and I saw today that it was drinking from a tiny dish of water I’d placed on the ground because the main water feeder would be too high to reach.

Houses in my county are selling so fast they can’t keep up with demand. Most buyers are from the cities wanting what they see as an ideal lifestyle but some bring bad habits with them, especially when it’s their driving on narrow lanes! I use a dash cam just in case! They sell city dwellings for a small fortune and can buy a mansion in this area which of course pushes locals out of the frame.

Have a wonderful time with your visitors Sandy and continue to take care and stay safe.

The posing poodle on yesterday’s teapot reminds me of the tiniest chihuahua we saw today proudly trotting across a car park. I should have taken a photo except people are suspicious because of the rise in dog napping. He would have been a perfect friend for Jilly!

Time to make sure Storm has found his way into the chicken house for the night. A bright evening but we have a few storms rumbling in the distance.

    Take care everyone

Hello, home after the appointment with the eye doctor, a stop at the Costco gas station (wow, late Friday morning is busy), and a stop to pick up library books.

No change in my lens correction but I have a new copy of the prescription so I can purchase a new pair of glasses. I was told, for the first time, that she sees the beginning of cataracts. She tossed out an estimate of 5 years before they will need attention. Grand. Didn’t see that coming I guess. 🤣😂🙂😂🤣 but then I wouldn’t would I?

Lunch looks quite good once again Bob. Dear Jean spends a lot of time helping others. That is so kind. ❤️❤️ Enjoy your afternoon. The temperature here has hit 70 degrees today. I am liking the warmer temperature. I hope you see a turn for the better as well.

Anne, your house is cozy and I hope you have many years of happiness ahead in your home. And also hoping for the best with the property next door. And nope, I won’t be moving. Canada wouldn’t want me anyway!

Barbie, we don’t have many in our neighborhood that feed the birds. Several have water available for them. But there are no prohibitions against feeding or watering the birds. I just like to see them hopping about in the neighbor’s tree. I did hear on the news this morning that experts say you must clean your feeder with a bleach solution every month or two to ward off a number of diseases that are fatal to birds. Well, I think my parents cleaned the bird feeder once a season and I doubt it was with bleach. I have friends around the metro that feed the squirrels by tossing out peanuts and/or bread on their back porches/decks each day. I would I imagine that would attract mice and potentially rats.

Patsy, your descriptions of the properties you have lived in (and fixed up) is amazing. What has been your favorite place to live? Always your current home?

Jackie, did you get your warmer day? I hope so. Super Pink Moon I hear. Makes for lovely photos.

Sandy, enjoy your time with family. It passes so quickly.

Best wishes to everyone. Off to sort out some containers to plant.

Good morning. Quite funny but my neighbours have disappeared up north I presume and LOADS of people trudged through their house yesterday BUT when the agents left it was still daylight and they forgot to turn the garage lights off which meant I didn't need to turn mine on with enough light shining through my LR and kitchen side windows. Never a dull moment.

Jilly had a wonderful day barking and running back and forth. One very young couple showed a little more interest than the rest. They looked rather like a younger version of my present neighbours.

Otherwise just the usual Friday. Garbage day, grocery delivery, but no Michael who decided to stay home because of strong winds threatening to blow For Sale signs sky high.

Hope everyone has a nice calmer Saturday.

Happy Saturday… Waiting for Blink Fitness to open at 7am. Birds are chirping like crazy and it is very “crisp” outside. Jean is sleeping and wasn’t feeling 100% last night. We were planning (as a joke) to drive out of town “accidently” bump into her uncle at the casino (his neighbors were bringing him) - just for a laugh.

    7wgcn4801gx2.jpg

It has been increasing difficult for her uncle. His macular degeneration has worsened…lost glasses and needed emergency pair ordered. Phone went bad and needed new one. His dog isn’t doing the best, but it is his last attachment to his deceased daughter. He can no longer drive his newly leased car and not sure what can be done. We will only do as he wants and treat him with the respect we would want – even as he approaches 90. He never really complains (except minor frustration at not being able to do something). Jean talks with him nightly generally for about an hour and I chime in a bit for some mutual kidding. Lots more going on but will end it here for now.

Jackie – Stay warm and bundled up. We are definitely colder today than the norm…but still recall the snow we had on May 9th last year as we celebrated Brooke’s 5th birthday with a drive-by parade because of the pandemic. Good catch on the celery plant pricing error … we buy a lot of discounted plants and amazingly they usually thrive after some TLC.

Ditto on our housing market. Our niece is a realtor and very busy. It’s amazing what some people can afford and so different from when we started out. Hope your storms aren’t too bad.

Lin – Great Oliver Twist teapot…can always count on an interesting picture from you. Glad the eye doctor appt went well and no changes. Can’t wait to see your new eyeglasses. My dr has been mentioning “cataracts” etc., but I am holding off for now. Jean dealt with it a couple years ago. Love the humor.

You’re right about Jean. She has a big heart and it truly is what attracted me to her. Reminds me of the Honey song by Bobby Goldsboro, as she is always young at heart, kind and I can easily see her “sittin there an' cryin', Over some sad and silly late, late show...”

Jealous of your 70 temp…I don’t see that in the immediate future for us, so I will settle for any sun we can get.

Bye for now. Best wishes to all for a great weekend! Bob :)

    We've got a frost warning!

Meanwhile I've taken down my thick winter drapes to let the sun in. Thinking of light flowery summery curtains. Any ideas on where to purchase them online? Ready made of course as my peepers are no good for sewing anymore

We picked just the right window of weather for a long walk and halfway round met a lovely man with black Lab Scooby I’ve got to know through lockdown. This azalea hedge is along the road on the way to the next village and I often see cars stopping and drivers jumping out to take a photo when it’s in bloom.

Now pouring cold rain but I’m off to my hairdresser.....Bliss! Neighbour Louise driving me as she doesn’t feel I should drive too far yet!

    Catch you later.

Well I certainly feel like dancing. I've taken down the heavy drapes, the sun's pouring in, the blind at the side is open and with hardly any junk left to darken us and to look at my LR is sunny and light. As the poet said "call me early mother dear, for I'm to be queen of the May." I'm making hay whilst the sun shines for who knows what the future holds! Wow, that's some azalea hedge JACKIE! Just what I needed in the past but an azalea wouldn't grow as big as that in this part of the world.

Happy Saturday! :) Things are going well with my company. Laure and I went to the fabric store after having lunch near by. The fabric store was about a block long and she found some material that she liked. I made some chicken breasts for dinner and then we played a game and are trying to catch up on Mrs. Maisel.
We only watch it when we are together so it takes longer than if I binged watched it. Thinking about a walk in the forest preserve but it is quite windy and with Laurie's asthma probably not a good idea. I think she is going to go to a mall for some personal items she buys at a particular store. Tonight we are going for dinner to celebrate Mother's Day a week early. All this eating is not good for my calorie intact but I did manage to ride the bike an hour yesterday.

Annsie, love your cozy house and the decorating but do hope your Christmas tree is still not up. That was a very fast clean out and move for Harry and his wife.
Let's hope the new neighbors get rid of the rest of the junk Harry left behind or maybe he will return to clean it up himself.

    Lin, happy May day.

Jackie, love the azalea hedge, so pretty. Good luck at hairdresser, I am waiting patiently until next Friday when I can go to Bryanna's school and she can highlight and trim and/or cut my hair. I have absolutely no body to my hair right now and it is driving me crazy.

Bob, so great of you to be so kind to Jean's uncle, that is how I feel about Joe. Today is his last day here and I will make sure I get to say good bye at least until he is settled in his new place. Sorry you are experiencing cold weather we are hitting the 80's today and tomorrow.

I better get moving and not be rude by being on my computer all morning. Have a wonderful day.

A partly cloudy day, sort of cool and with expected showers. That is okay...it is grooming day for Katie. And a sort of odd thing that is part of my heritage. This is Kentucky Derby day. When growing up, my grandfather boarded horses and owned stock in several race horses. These were quarter horses. My cousin was a great trainer. He worked for several big race horse owners. He eventually went to a owners horse farm in the south. He has trained several big name race horses and worked with at least one winner. I watch the races but in truth, it is a hard life for the horses. Lots of injuries happen in training. And I really didn’t understand that when I was a kid. My cousin is still alive and owns “pieces” of several thoroughbred horses. So I watch, cheer them on, we used to have derby parties complete with the hats and mint juleps. Back in the day......now I am sad for the horses and see how sensitive and nervous they are when they are lead to the gates.

Damon is working on several movies and he is not a big fan of any of them. He said it is going to be another year of the B movie. He is getting ready for sailing again. Boat clean up and replacing huge batteries (6 batteries) scrubbing every inch of the boat to remove that green goop that happens on all surfaces. His sailing pals all are vaccinated but wearing masks as they help with the clean up. Even though the boat has a really nice Kitchen, They eat on picnic tables on the dock. Damon has sailed with this
    group for years now.

Katie is getting her spring/summer cut. Easier to keep her clean and she loves the feeling of freedom and coolness. She also gets conditioning lotion with she loves as well. She gets almost as much TLC as those race horses.

Anne: great Cozy cottage. It might be time to take down the Christmas tree or replace Christmas decorations with silk flowers. Call it a May pole or summer tree. Just an idea. But love your home. I know Jilly is happy there as well.

Jackie: zowie! That is a beautiful hedge. Who takes care of it? It is so beautiful it must have a green thumb person caring for it.

Bob: I don’t think you look like you weigh 160 lbs. you look very svelte but still strong. John weighs less than that but looks bigger. John is having trouble with his metabolism. He eats but still loses weight if he doesn’t eat enough. He worries about losing strength. It is always a concern. We must be ever vigilant about our health.

Clipping Katie’s toenail next.....always a negotiation. I often loose on this procedure.

Good afternoon. Almost time for the Kentucky Derby isn’t it. I love horses so hope to see the race or at least a replay.

I did get to the spot for recycling this morning. I was thrilled, I was early and was second in line and they didn’t wait until the official start time, they let me unload my stuff and I was off again. The wind was gusting (and still is) and my car was having a difficult time staying in its lane at 60 mph. I haven’t driven that speed for a long time. Woo-hoo!

Back home and I have been straightening some things up, making a nice lunch and I ordered a few garden supplies. Hopefully they will arrive before fall. 🤣😂🤣 No, really! My herb plants (ordered months ago) are now on ship date 5/31.

I did a bit of laundry in the sink and hung things up in the basement. I tried to find out if the part for my washer was shipped. They told me they would call back by 4pm yesterday. Ah, that didn’t happen. I am guessing there was no good news.

Jackie, I love the azalea hedge. It is magnificent. Hope the trip to the hairdresser went well. Getting a ride is a nice treat as long as you didn’t want to make other stops.

Anne, high traffic area with a house for sale next door. Wow, they left the lights on. You saved on your electric bill! Anyone coming to visit tomorrow? It is 88 degrees F here right now with 27 mph winds! I will need to water my containers later on. Everything is drying out. We could use some rain.

Sandy, enjoy the rest of the visit. ❤️❤️

Bob, I hope Jean is feeling better now. Maybe she just a bit worn out from all the care she provides. I hope you are having fun!

I think Patsy has posted while I have been slowing typing away.

    Best wishes everyone.

I'm having a smile. No, my Christmas tree isn't up, long taken down but I thought I'd show a many months old photo rather than take yet another of the same scene without the tree. If and when I get new drapes I'll post again just to show we are in summer mode even if the temperature says winter here.

Loads of hopefuls showed up yesterday for the viewing but today just a trickle which means someone furry is resting her throat.
So....a very quiet day looking at online drapes and texting Mary Jo who's home is beautiful and one to be consulted or copied. Wayfair seem the biggest online choice.

Seems everyone had an enjoyable May 1st.

:) For us, May 1 is just like the first of every month. We download the step count from our pedometers and Jake winds the 30 day wind up clock.

:) We had great weather for working in the yard so Jake and I tackled separate section between breakfast and lunch.

    Happy Sunday everyone.
Hooray, my hair is finally cut after nearly 5 months and it feels wonderful to have lost the heavy mop that sat on top of my head! I took before and after photos but won’t inflict those on you. The only downside of getting a lift from Louise was the time I had to wait for the previous customer to leave which meant I was running late before we even got started but I love the cut and also got advice on how to deal with the current tone of my hair since the pink faded. I told my hairdresser I felt I looked like a brassy tart which made her laugh but she has shown me how to use a silver shampoo that softens the tone. Left on long enough will give my hair a blue tint so I’m tempted but at the moment just the one shampoo she did has already made me feel happier. Louise was very patient as she had visited several shops and found most things she wanted.

It’s a lovely day so I had completed my laundry to hang out in the sunshine before we walked but George wasn’t in the mood to go far so after about half a mile we came home but having remembered to put some change in my pocket I bought a cucumber plant from a neighbour who places a variety of seedlings and cuttings for sale in her drive. This one is called Armenian Yard Long and the name fascinated me... I might come to regret it!

Anne, I thought of you when I saw these curtains as I look for a set for my dining room when refurbished. I’ve bought a couple of items from Wayfair in the past and haven’t been disappointed.
    https://www.wayfair.co.uk/home-decor/pdp/lily-manor-delvale-pencil-pleat-semi-sheer-curtains-irj10004.html?st=1

So Harry left in a bit of a rush!! If I was a prospective buyer I’d be concerned about what disasters are hidden away if some are open to scrutiny but then I remember an ex neighbour putting a ridiculous price on his property that needed an awful lot of work but had to drop it significantly before anyone was interested. That’s where Debs and Louise now live and they spent their first few years constantly uncovering nightmare bodge jobs!!

On our walk this morning I stopped next to the Azalea hedge to chat to a couple I often see and we discussed how it is kept so neat. They thought it might be a special type but I’m going to keep an eye on it to see if it gets a haircut once the flowers fade.

I love the bee pottery tea set Lin. Full of Eastern promise! Perhaps it won’t be a bad thing to wait a bit longer for your herbs what with the erratic weather we seem to all be experiencing. We’ve had frost 2 nights in a row so I’m wondering how the pea shoots we planted out a week ago are. Clouds building now and I can feel a distinct change in temperature as I sit in my garden room.

Much like Katie, George is like a different dog once his winter coat is removed Patsy. There have been a couple of evenings I’ve seen him shivering but then so have I living in this building site and no heating to talk of. I’m sure it was the coldest April in many years. Movie making has lost its way in my opinion. Not so long ago there was always at least one new release I’d want to see but nothing grabs me these days. Regurgitated violence or too far off the entertaining scale for my liking!

    Cup of tea time.

The curtains are lovely JACKIE. I really like them. Are you getting them for your cottage? They are listed under U.K. And the cost is in pounds but they've encourage me to look further into Wayfair. I found some others over here which I also really liked but sleeping on them i don't think they will suit this little old house. Your idea might if I can find them. The ones I found would look absolutely gorgeous in Mary Joe's front "best" room if I can persuade her! She's a tad canny spending money unlike me!

I really need something new though because the summer sun has faded the very old ones I have.

I really dread to think what any new buyers might find lurking under the staging, but I can't worry about the world. I have trouble at times turning off the world and its problems.

Hope you show us your new hair cut and colour, very intrigued how our favourite Brit looks!

Mikes decided to come over and is on his way. I was going to pull the easel out on a rainy day but I'm cooking instead.

I like the Bee teapot as well LIN.

    Whoops here's Mike. Bye everyone.

Anne, The Wayfair floral curtains are the sort of thing I want in my dining room but should probably wait for my dining chairs with little monkeys in the greenery to be returned before I make a decision. Might end up with a jungle patterned pair although if the size of this pair fits I’m tempted.

Happy Sunday! :) Dinner was wonderful and then we played Sorry Fire and Ice which I won. Today we go to Rob and Lisa's and my sons dad will be there along with Bryanna. It is a beautiful day so I hope we sit outside. Pizza is on the menu and I will treat. I am sure we will watch another episode of Mrs. Maisley when we get home and play another game. Tomorrow I will drive Laurie to another fabric store as she is still looking for material for her daughter's dress.
Rain is expected tomorrow so I hope it doesn't storm.

Anne and Jackie, I like Wayfair but was upset with them when I returned the rug I ordered and they made me pay postage which was $20. I could have taken a credit but I don't buy enough from them to do that. I do like the curtains you both like so good luck.

Anne, I kind of thought that was an older picture, I didn't think you would leave your tree up all year long. lol

Time to ride the bike and get ready. Have a good day.

So glad you are having such a lovely time with your family SANDY. The Christmas tree is always down by January 1st, I'm not named Harry - lol.

The second curtains are very pretty as well JACKIE, but I'm not sure about the jungle and an English meadow going together. There again the chairs won't be noticeable when under the table and also coverage won't be that large. This is fun, but in my case I'm so scared of making a bad decision. I wonder if wayfair would deliver from the UK to Canada?

Michael doesn't want me taking Jilly for walks because a family of foxes are now roaming the streets. Daddy fox is huge and gorgeous but Michael said he sat eying Bean this morning and thinking she'd make for a nice lunch. It is a problem because I'm just not quick enough to pick her up should he decide to lunge.

I've decided this growing old is a damn nuisance.

Good afternoon. I am babysitting my plant containers. I have covers on each pot (like heavy waxed paper). The wind gusts keep trying to displace them. I keep replacing the long staples but the wind has caused the holes to be too large now. Anyway, I will keep at it. It helps to cut down on the sun and keeps the critters away for a while.

It is only around 80 degrees F today. The rest of the week promises seasonal temperatures, so this is the last hot day for a while.

Dentist’s appointment first thing tomorrow. I hope no repair work is needed. Not looking forward to this.

Did a bit of laundry, caught up on bills and watched church this morning. I have a book that is due soon and I would like to finish it so I think that will be my afternoon.

Happy curtain and drape shopping. Once upon a time I wanted to replace living room, dining room and family room drapes and curtains. I had a lady come out to do some estimates. While I was thinking about it she left that company and moved on to another one that didn’t carry the same merchandise lines. So I never did buy anything, just left the old ones up. Saved a lot of money. 😉

Anne, well, a family of predatory foxes, not good!! Do you think Harry and family will be back next week? I don’t know if you have open houses during the week. We really don’t here, a leftover from people working M - F.

Jackie, I would agree, it would be nice to have your chairs back and some more finished in your house before ordering curtains but it can take a long time to receive a shipment. You never know. I have no experience with Wayfair. I do know I will not order from Wish ever again. Total junk! Best wishes on raising your new plants. Love celery! A yard long cucumber? Wow.

Sandy, what a lovely visit. Hope you are enjoying today and the pizza 🍕 party. Keep on having fun!

Barbie, nothing special happened here either on the first of May. A couple of my friends got May Day baskets. They were quite pleased.

    Be safe everyone.

Partly cloudy and a bit cool. Still quite nice out. Miss Katie has barked at all the birds, the neighbors who are mowing their lawn, she also threw her head in the air and barked at......nothing! She then comes back inside to jump on her tuffet and growl as a show that she is “large and in charge.” All is well in Katie’s world.

Grooming Katie always gets me a day after of full on allergies. Headache, sneezing and running nose and eyes. I would take her to a groomer if we had one that would be acceptable. She is so fearful of strangers even if we try constantly to socialize her. It would need to be a patient and understanding groomer. Locally the groomers are trying to get the session over as quickly as possible to get to the next doggie. More doggies mean more money.

    Jackie:
I would be concerned about too many conflicting patterns with other decor items in the same room. It is a problem I am dealing with. I have a large patterned rug that dominates everything. Too many patterns in the same room makes it feel too cluttered to me. So I think I always need to calm down other patterns. I have plain lace curtains to diffuse the light and full climate control shades to cover the windows when needed. Mind you, I often set up rules for myself that aren’t valid or important. I also have ordered from wayfair. I have mixed reviews as a consumer. They are fine if you read carefully and order carefully. Returns can be a nightmare.

    Anne:
I understand about worries concerning wildlife and Jilly. Our concern is a small pack of coyotes. They raid chicken houses and lead domestic dogs astray and kill them. We keep Katie in her back yard or on a leash or when off leash we watch her very carefully. Her back yard is huge. Just large trees and grass, it is all Katie’s. Great for catching balls etc. it is securely fenced. I think maybe Michael has a good point. Watch out for sweet little Jilly. As you have mentioned, she is a friendly little girl.

Need coffee, need to answer phone message, etc. hello to Lin, Connie, Bob, Barbie, Sandy and all sneakers.

I'm wondering if we have a buyer? A young couple who came yesterday came back today and stood talking to the agent for ages. It might be nice to have a young couple next door. The young lady has a very pleasant face.

We have coyotes as well PATSY but they go home at dawn whilst the foxes roam the streets all day. Jilly loves going for walks and meeting people but I think I will heed Mikes warning.

That's one problem I don't have. No patterns except for a couple of cushions. After Michael left I spent the afternoon looking at curtains again. Maybe I should just be sensible and leave things as they are at my age. This means of course I could live to be 100 in a house as decrepit as me, lol. I couldn't find JACKIEs curtains on the wayfair Canada site.

Oh boy LIN I don't think I'd fancy a cup of tea from that teapot, not with whatever crawling down the side and up the handle. A snake?

And so ends Sunday. We reached 64 F. It's quite weird, Windsor isn't that far away and yet they had the hottest temperatures in Canada today. In the 80s. I don't mind our cooler temperatures. The daffodils and tulips are lasting much longer than usual, and the blossom is just starting to show.

Brrr, a storm has arrived and with it cold winds so it feels more like a January day outdoors. George wore the coat he hates but we only walked round the woodland and now about to wash every surface and item in the kitchen!

Could your being in lockdown have something to do with the coyotes hanging around Anne? I saw several videos of our wildlife wandering into town centres last year when we were all housebound. Definitely not worth you being confronted by anything dangerous.... just bunnies, hedgehogs and deer here with the occasional flighty fox! I looked through the Canadian Wayfair website too before going to bed last night and agree there’s nothing close to the floral curtains on the UK site. It mostly looked like a blast from the 70’s and although I know some of your furniture is retro, think pretty floral would look fabulous. If I can help I’d be happy to buy for you and post across the pond.

Patsy, I do agree that a mix of too many patterns doesn’t work and have already decided another chair that will sit by the fireside will be recovered in plain material and hopefully I can pick out a colour from the dining chairs to match. A few months ago I learned a lesson about reading the small print when I ordered an item through Etsy that offered free UK delivery but I was stung with a large customs charge. When I queried it I was told the website states they are not responsible for such costs which I finally discovered in the tiniest print after a long search.

An interesting teapot Lin, a sort of Hansel and Gretel woodland tree.... another fairy tale of abandoned children and baby eating witches. No wonder we all grew up to be so stoic! Good luck with your dentist. I’ve not seen mine in about 18 months as he continues to catch up after 3 lockdowns.

Sandy, it’s lovely to read you are having a great family visit just like the good old days.

Line of Duty series finished last night but I won’t comment about how I felt about it because I don’t want to spoil anyone’s viewing when it arrives on Netflix.

Coffee and sandwich time before housework.

JACKIE, that's a wonderful offer from you, absolutely amazing actually but I won't take you up on it. For a start half of our postal depot are off work with Corvid. Thank you so much for offering! No, I shall content myself with looking at your soon to be very pretty dining room. I'm quite surprised how different decorating accessories are over here because in the UK I had the prettiest floral curtains. The bed duvet cover I bought from M&S, UK is a good example because I've seen nothing like it in Canada. Shall you choose a dark colour picked out from the existing pattern for your fireside chair? I'm thinking muddy pups and a shedding pussycat of course!

Yes - I don't think the pandemic has helped in the explosion of wild life. We've always had coyotes from the ravine close by, but people are reporting fox cubs emerging out of dens in their back yards and playing on the patio. Foxes are lovely looking creatures but best kept away from towns, walking poodles and cats out on a midnight stroll. Every so often a poster will appear stuck on a tree because "fluffy" has gone awol. So sad.

Anyway I'll stick to what I have and hopefully Mark will have his vaccination soon and fix a new blind on my side window (you might guess that jammed and won't close on Harry's side exposing the junk when the lilac went as well), and the big back room window. The opening rod snapped after many years and I'd like to replace the Venetian blind with a light filtering screen blind to pull down fully and close at night. Great for drawing and painting if I ever do that again with our Bean.

Sorry if I've bored everyone with decorating apart from maybe Jackie!

Anne, off for a shower after a sleepless night!

Happy Monday! :) Great day at Rob and Lisa's. It was a beautiful afternoon to sit outside because of the breeze. Bryanna was curling Lisa's hair when we walked in and her hair looked beautiful. I am going Friday for highlights and a trim. Will probably take Bryanna for lunch before my appointment. I can't wait as I have no body without highlights. Today Bryanna is coming and we will possibly go for a walk to forest preserve and look for a geocache if it doesn't rain and then games all afternoon until dinner which is petite filet mignon. They leave tomorrow but will be back at the end of the month for Laurie's doctor appointment for her migraines.

Annsie, I am sure between you and Michael you will fix up the window treatments to your satisfaction. I will make the same offer as Jackie if you found something on the US Wayfair I would be happy to send it to you. You could also check Amazon if you are still interested in changing curtains. Please stay in the backyard with Jilly for now, we don't want anything happening to you or her.

Jackie, sorry again about your weather, they predicted rain today but I think they took it out until tonight. Like Anne I would love to see the before and after pictures of your hair.

Hello to everyone else but it is time to shower and get moving. Have a great day.

So took picture after Rob's dad went home and Charlie was sleeping so Lisa photoshopped the big guy in the back with the black shirt and Charlie who was on a swing. lol Lisa took the picture so she is not in it, but then did one with herself.

Just wanted to stop by say hello and goodbye for today…back tomorrow I hope.

Busy weekend and furnace broke yesterday. Dealing with various places for service and running around.

Likely need new furnace as this one is 25 yrs old and we have been having issues. Then again, it is a Monday so I should have expected this… ha ha ha As the saying goes “it is what it is.”

Hope everyone had a great weekend and doing well. Bob :)

I am Soooo fed up with being confined to my garden room as are George and Betty. At least Brady can sneak into next door when they aren’t looking. This will be the 6th week and what with the pouring rain and high winds, little else we can do. 😒

Anne, I’m guessing it’s because of the many older properties in Britain that look so good with floral curtains as historically many households decorated with a view to extending the outside into the home with earth colours and flowery patterns. I seem to remember many Canadians viewing anything built 50 years ago required a bulldozer! I do hope if the young couple are interested it’s because they like Harry’s place as it stands.

    A delightful family photo Sandy.

No point sitting listening to the rain, I’ll head for my bedroom and see if there’s anything worth watching on tv. Hate counting the days but I am!!

Good afternoon. Okay check-up with dentist this morning. I had a grocery order to be delivered late this morning/early afternoon. Apparently the guy shopped early and dropped off the order before the start time of delivery window. Had a problem with an item substitution which I did not authorize. It raised my bill by $15.99 plus tax. I have just spent time writing to the company about this issue and sending pictures of the non authorized purchase. Finally, I have been told I will receive a credit with them, not back on my credit card. I am sure I will order again so not a big deal. Bigger deal was the number of out of stock items. I have been hunting for other stores that might have them. No one store has all of them. I guess I will sit on my hands for a while before placing another order.

So that was most of my day with the exception of a long phone call with a friend who is trying to straighten out a bill from her doctor’s office. They basically said they couldn’t help her but would send her a copy of what they had. Really? They do the coding for the bills don’t they?

So as advertised, a much cooler day today with drizzle. I guess I won’t have to water my plants today.

Sandy, great photos and a continuing great visit! Wahoo!

Anne, happy shopping. Keeping looking around, you may find something you like if you stay on the hunt. I think finding window coverings is the most difficult job ever. The For Sale By Owner

house at the end of our cul de sac had an open house yesterday, only 2 hours long. Not much of an opportunity for people to stop by. I wonder if that young couple are strong buyers for your neighboring property. Exciting to follow this story as it unfolds.

Jackie, what are your construction people working on this week? That is just too cold for the month of May! Hope you have enough heat in the house to stay comfortable. And I hope you continue to heal nicely. I saw a photo I want to share but it may not be shareable.

Bob, sorry. Really sorry. I hate appliance failures, large and small. I hope you,can get service people there with a new furnace in tow immediately.

Hello Patty, Connie, Barbie and all Sneakers.

    Be safe.

Awful about your furnace BOB, but on the plus side at least we are into spring. Mine broke down and had to be replaced five years or so ago on the coldest day of the year. I had to go and stay at Marks until it was replaced and slept in the vintage bed that Mary Jos dad died in which didn't make for restful rest you might say! At least the mattress was new! Do any of you remember me having a moan about sleeping in a bed with a carved Portuguese headboard?

In all honesty you've had a dreadful time all round JACKIE! And you've borne it all with such courage. Just think one day you will look back and know it's been worth the discomfort. I hope you've kept a diary or journal!

My neighbours have just returned in pouring rain from wherever they disappeared to. Going back to lovely cottagey curtains I was trying to remember the makers of beautiful designs. William Morris and Laura Ashley spring to mind. My very favourite curtains in the UK had a honeysuckle theme and meadow flowers. I loved those curtains! Never tired of them and someone quickly took them off my hands when we emigrated. Anyway, can you think of any other designers? My minds gone blank. You are right, the designs suited the houses over the pond. I think today's modern designers can't get beyond gleaming white and steel condo living and don't consider us still living in the few and far between vintage homes remaining in Canada which makes sense of course. Oh and a big thank you to SANDY as well on the curtain theme. I'll carry on looking and something will stand out locally and if not these present ones will have to do.
