Starbucks is sounding ahhhhmazing with my chilly fingers and toes today! I'm curious what temp it is where you are- I think I need to suck it up because at least I'm not buried in snow! 20-30 degrees F here.

I live in the Los Angeles area. It's about 70 degrees F here. After weeks of having the temp hover around the high 90's, can I complain? It feels very cold to me. B)

Finished my fast day yesterday...no issues. Started today with Starbuck's skinny peppermint mocha!! Have a great day everybody.

Yummmm...Starbucks...Oh sorry got off track. I had one of those today (non-fast day today) Skinny venti expresso frappacihino with a shot of caramel (162 cals) :) Okay...enough about Starbucks!!

I found out why I was so hungry yesterday. I didn't eat the yogurt I planned so ended up being under the 500. Makes up for maybe one of the cookies over the weekend.

Fast day for me again tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a great week. Yummmm Starbucks...stop it....sorry :#

Love Starbucks. Would be fun if we could all meet and have a skinny whatever together.

On my second fast day today. Just works for me to do back to backs. Love that I have 5 consecutive days where I can eat at my TDEE.

Have a great day everyone. Stay warm, be wise about your bodies, and know you can do this!

Fist fast day went well yesterday  I was surprised how well my body coped with it actually... here's hoping tomorrow's fast goes as well and that you're all doing fabulously!

I have a question: who exercises on a fast day? I was thinking i will go for my walks or do aerobics on non-fast days. If you exercise on a fast day do you find yourself getting a bit too light headed and knackered? x

Glad your 1st fast went well.

I built myself up to be able to do 5k on fast days, and don't have a problem now. I think if you build it up slowly your body adapts. I do usually go for my run in the morning of my fast day though, so I have had my evening meal the night before. Not sure if it would be the same if I went for the run on the evening after fasting all day.

10C in North Wales, so think that's about 49/50F. Sunny and dry, but we are forecast rain...... typical Britain. :o

Good morning everyone! Today is my 2nd fast of the week. I am a little nervous today as I was still hungry when I went to bed last night so not sure how today will go! I wanted Shepard's Pie last night really bad and tried to make it fast with country style hash browns (small cut up potatoes) instead of mashed potatoes. It was interesting...tasted like it should but different and not as filling as it should have been! But I did bring lots of water with me today and I have a lot of tea bags on hand! Luckily it's a busy day at work today so that should keep me distracted!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good luck today @carlsoda! Today is a fast day for me too. Went to Starbucks and got my skinny iced Venti vanilla americano...only they made it wrong and put skimmed milk inside (a white/misto americano or whatever) rrrrrrrrrrrrr. And I only wish I were brave enough to say... (with my best valley girl impression)... "like you totally got my drink wrong". But no, I sheepishly took my drink (calories unknown) and finished it. When I got home I'm still not sure how many calories to add. I ended up adding 50ml skimmed milk to my log :\ .

Thanks, girls :-) It´s really super exciting, although I don´t think I even got the whole thing completely yet. Still kinda adjusting and going like it´s happening to someone else and I am just planning it for them...

Good luck Carlsoda and Snaps (the starbucks thing sucks, but I get you...I am only sometimes able to tell them: look, I didn´t order this...totally depending on how I feel)
  • Thanks for the replys! I think I will stick to having my fast days as my 'rest' days from exercise.

Today is my second fast day (first week) and I'm feeling a little hungry! Monday was fine but today it seems to be a bit harder. I shall push on through though as I have a lovely small portion of the curry I cooked for dinner last night left for my dinner tonight YUM.

I find looking at before/during or before/after photos of people who are doing the diet very motivational - I've seen a few online but does anyone take regular snaps to upload? I took some photos on Monday (my first day) as I think it will really spur me on if I'm able to look back on them and see obvious changes.

Hope you're all having a super day! xxx

All done with todays fast. Went well, had my dinner and remembered my yogurt, success. It was nice to have something sweet after my savoury fish pie and green beans, yum! My tummy is happy :D . All the best to my fellow fasters.

Oh my goodness...you need to call in and talk to the manager and you'll get a free drink out of them. If they get it wrong, they get it wrong. It's not your fault..remember Starbucks is a huge corporation and their #1 goal is to make you (the customer) happy - besides making a profit!

I always check my drink first before I leave just in case something is wrong. Especially americanos can sometimes not be hot enough at a Starbucks.

But for today...move on from it and log the milk!

Today is also a fast day for me. I'm getting ready to make a protein smoothie with frozen strawberries and whey protein. And for dinner I will have a pork chop with string beans. Its only 12:30 here in NY. so my time is different than most of you. You are all doing great on your fasting days.
Yesterday and today it is only in the 20's......So super cold here........

Great job!!! It's lunch time here and I'm going to take off and go walk at the mall for my lunch break. I also have some light progresso soup for when I come back which should tie me over until dinner. I also have a stash of celery in case I need it this afternoon.

Hope everyone is having a great day so far!!

Haven't been feeling the best the last couple days- just really tired and out of it. I haven't had a full TDEE day during the week in a long time, but felt maybe I needed it today. Going to rest up when I get home and hope I feel back with it tomorrow :)

carbmonster: Sorry to hear you have not been feeling at your best. I agree that you should eat up to your TDEE today. It might be just what your body is telling you. It might help with your energy level also. Enjoy your rest when you get home.

@carbmonster: Have you been overrestricting? I mean fasting and restricting on normal days? That could be the cause of your lower energy level. Or you are coming down with something...which I hope is not the case.

Eat normally for a few days and see if you feel better.

I'm finishing up my second fast day. Went quite well. Two different yummy homemade soups and a filet of cod. Then some skyr with chia seeds and homemade jam for a protein loaded dessert. I love the fact, that I can now buy skyr in Switzerland. It is the Icelandic version of quark - 170g - 100cal - 19g protein - 0.5g fat. What more could I wish for on a fast day!! I am now looking forward to my makeover and the party tomorrow B) Next fast probably on Friday.

Weigh-in day for me today... down 0.9 lbs! A moment of silence please...for 5:2...........Thanks to this WOEing I have been able to shed the most weight since starting MFP. My tracker is nearly at 20 lbs loss. I could not be happier.

Saturday is my mom's 70th birthday and because she is in Seattle and we're in London we are having a family skype call. She and my dad and two sisters have not seen me since I started 5:2 and hopefully they can see a difference :D .

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Final fast day of the week today. Weigh in day tomorrow, and I'm back with a vengeance.

I have a works xmas party next weekend, and would like a little wiggle room in my dress. I tried it on a couple of weeks ago, and it was snug, so I think that was the push I needed to get my focus back. Not planning on trying it on again until Wed evening so I'll only have a couple of days to find something else if it's still snug (hopefully not) :D

Hope you all have a great day. <3
  • My second fast day went very well yesterday. I decided to weigh myself this morning as I read somewhere it suggested weighing the morning after a fast. I feel a bit pissed off as it says I haven't lost any weight. I'm hoping my scales are faulty, I just don't understand after eating 500cal for two days and a normal day with exercise how I haven't lost weight.

Am I worrying too much too soon? Afterall, it's only Thursday and this is my first week. I was expecting at least a 2lb difference. Feeling a bit deflated now (and not in the way I want!).

I found some old photos of me...more chubby...before.

    tw7nmkmq17bf.jpg

    I was maybe 18 or 19 (1998-99) in that photo...probably 190 or so.

These two are from 2009 (first one) and 2011 (second one). Both after I had a baby and both around 200 lbs.

    uan5azo8khr0.jpg

These are where I'm at now...so my in progress shots...164 lbs.

    aqxcuvqjjcd7.jpg

This will become my before when I reach my final goal.

Thanks @thecarbmonster for giving me the courage to post these!! To all my 5:2 friend lets keep at it. All the best to you all.

@carbmonster: I agree with the others, eat at TDEE at least for today, don´t overdo it!

@snaps: I love the first pic, you look super cute and happy :-) But your progress is also awesome! Nicely done!

    @Flumi: have fun and enjoy!
