texasgardnr I hear you as I have been in the same boat! I will be so glad when this semester is over and the stress of teaching so many classes ends. The grading alone is keeping me chained to the computer with little time to work out and I am a stress eater! I should know better than to take on so many classes, but the alternative is to make life even more difficult for students and I do not want to do that either :noway: . We know how to get back on track though and that is the beauty of MFP & Leslie! Hang in there!

    Walk Strong Everyone-
    Happy Birthday Alex <3

Thank you zichab for the kind words. Yes, you and I will both get back on track. I'm so glad that we have MFP, and of course Leslie and our group!!
You hang in there also and we shall be walking strong again very soon! In the mean time every step in the right direction counts a lot o:)

I am very much a stress eater too :\:(

Yay for spring and being able to walk outdoors again as well as work in the garden also :) That helps me a lot!

So this am I went to work out and was doing my LS fast burn was supposed to do 40 minutes and maybe a little more than half way thru I just stopped, lost the rythem and wasn't engerenic enough to continue so I stopped. Better to stop than do a workout that's not going to workout, well that's how I think. Guess that explains why I'm over weight. Lol

Hi Everyone!!! Sorry to be MIA! I have been so busy but haven't stopped walking! I have been working on strength exercises and did too many lunges and squats and pulled a muscle in my left thigh, so no more of that or kickbacks for me until its healed. So instead of the kickbacks I am doing interval walking when Leslie does kickbacks. Work is keeping me busy but I am still here!

    March 17-27

    44 miles with Leslie

96 Miles with Leslie to date

    27 miles outside

    79 miles outside to date

175 miles to date/ goal 150 MADE MY GOAL!!!!!

Well my goals for March seem to me to be pretty small right now it looks like I will shoot for 70 miles with just Leslie.

    March 1-7 13 miles
    March 8-14 14 miles
    March 15-21 18 miles
    March 22-28 24 miles
    March 29-31

Total so far this month is 69/70 miles.
I will need to add more walking to my days to meet the monthly goal. I started the 4 mile power walk last week end of the week before so that has helped to move the miles up a bit. I am not tracking any other exercise mostly because it is not really happening.

I have found that the days I do the 4 miles I am extra hungry so I think I need to add more to supper so that I don't randomly wonder through the kitchen at night looking for something to eat. This only happens on the days I do the four miles. Funny how for me one mile makes such a difference right now. I guess I will have to wait until my body is used to it and just work through the hunger.

I have the same problem with hunger. I've gone from 2 miles to 3, and on those days I find myself looking for "something". More water helps on some days, but certainly not always. It is funny how one mile makes such a difference.

My gosh it is so good to see so many new walkers taking up the Leslie challenge!

bgoddess Better to stop than do a workout that's not going to workout, well that's how I think. Guess that explains why I'm over weight. Lol -You are very smart to stop when you are not focused on your workout. Injuries happen if we just keep pushing when we are not really into it and being overweight means being extra careful as our bodies are already under strain. There is always tomorrow to work on our fitness. :+1:

kab & lreutner If it helps, I find when I get hungry from walking, protein really helps. Some times a low fat Mozzerella cheese stick (50 calories), peanut butter on celery (90 calories), 1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese (90 calories) or if I have any left over, an ounce or two of chicken with some Franks hot sauce (80 calories) or 1/2 of my favorite Pure Protein Chocolate Deluxe Bar (90 calories) really takes the hunger away and is far less calories than my workout. See if it helps you fight the "grumbellies." Water NEVER works for me for workout hunger :disappointed_relieved: although they always suggest it on the forums.

Bandit-Oh Bandit-be careful-we cannot lose our inspirational Walking Ninja to injury! :noway: I hope your muscle is healing and you are feeling better. Muscle pulls are so darn painful!

    Walk Strong Everyone-

I think I will need to up my protein on those days I have some rice cakes in the cupboard so I think I will put some peanut butter with them and see how that goes.

Well, I'm finishing the month with 58.5/50. :D
Thanks for the tips zichab, I just started eating some protein shortly after a workout and it seems to be helping.
You are all a fabulous bunch of encouraging walkers.

lreutner I am so glad to hear that protein helps you as well! I thought there was something wrong with me at first because all the forums said "drink water," but all water did was make me go trotting to the bathroom, which really is just more exercising, so I was even hungrier!!!! I stumbled on the protein idea because when I started lifting weights, they said to eat more protein, so I did! I noticed I was not as hungry and I wondered if it would work with Leslie, a long cardio walk or mountain hiking, which I do in the summer. It did and I have used it ever since. I am glad I could help! :drinker:

    Hi everyone!

Checking in. The end of the month has been difficult as my husband traveled to Seattle for work, so I had my Dad staying with me which made it next to impossible to exercise. I did, however, continue eating healthy, so that was half the battle. Tomorrow it's back on track to hopefully finish my goal of 40 (or at least close to) for March. Either way, I'm proud of getting those 36.5 miles in for the month because it was more than I was doing in previous months.

    Current total: 36.5/40

Considering your brother's accident and all the responsibility you have as a result, Mary, you are doing very well. March has been rough for everyone it seems. I have decided the best thing to do is let March go and focus on April and real spring weather. I think some of it is this crappy weather as it is still snowing in Michigan! :grumble: I love the cold and snow but enough is enough! Hang in there as this too shall pass

Well my goals for March seem to me to be pretty small right now it looks like I will shoot for 70 miles with just Leslie.

    March 1-7 13 miles
    March 8-14 14 miles
    March 15-21 18 miles
    March 22-28 24 miles
    March 29-31 7 MILES

Total so far this month is 76/70 miles. :)

WOO HOO WENT OVER my March Goal

I had extra protein during the day and that really helped. Thanks all.
