When I was a kid, I had a tough time with truth telling. Then, one day, I realized that lying did not a) make me feel good; or b) accomplish my goals very well, and if it did, I still felt like crap about it. So, I then turned into a neurotic truth teller.
And so, it is confession time.
I learned last Friday that I have been misleading you all for a year. The bikes at our gym have a computer readout that says "trip." I always believed that this meant "miles travelled." On Friday, one of the guys in my class informed me that this was not, in fact, the case. Rather 1 = 200 revolutions, rather than 1 = 1 mile.
So... my mileage world has come crashing down, and I realize I actually have no idea what my real mileage is.
I know I could have just kept quiet and gotten away with it, and no one probably cares all that much - but my neurotic truth-telling self wouldn't let me do that.
Since it is still a good basis for comparison, I've decided that I'm going to continue to track those trip miles as real miles, even though I know it's not true. But, I figure, as long as you all know that it's a bit disingenuous, I'll feel OK about doing it. (and who knows, maybe it's sort of, kind of accurate... I have no idea).
So, with that out of the way... I rode 17.9 "miles" today. "M"TD - 53.50 -

@hkristine1: God bless your honesty. I remember trying to figure out how many miles I worked out on my elliptical. I had to measure the distance of my stride and divide it into how many revolutions I did after I measured the revolution and when I was done I was so disappointed that I really did not get anywhere for all the sweat and long time I spent on it. So now I am selling it because I feel like I am not getting a workout. So to make you not feel so bad, I thought I would share this little lie with you and hopefully you will get a laugh.

If it's not too late, I'd like to shoot for 150 miles in March.
I'm a little behind, but the weather is improving. So, I should be able to make it before the end of the month.

@Ceci_O_K - fantastic pace! I am so excited for your half.
@taxmom9093 - sorry to hear about your dad. Well wishes coming your way. Tough to be juggling so much during your busy season.
@hkristine1 - compulsive honesty LOL. How refreshing. We're all happy with your "miles."
As for me, I had a lovely 5 mile easy run today. This is a recovery week under my training plan and I'm looking forward to it.

@HOLLI - I still think that's really, really* close to actual miles....I'm sure when they built that bike, that was their goal was to make the trip count equal a mile too. And based on how far I travel in a spin class and knowing* you can kick my butt, I'm positive you are right on target! And you totally don't need to put your miles in quotes. They're no different than the miles any other non-treadmill machine (be it an elliptical, stationary bike, rowing machine, etc) might report. They're "equivalent" miles based on watts or METs (Metabolic Equivalent of Task).
@CLEPANT - Love your pic too!
@COMMIT1440 - Nope, never too late! Welcome back again and I've gotcha added! :drinker:
