Maybe We Should Have A Meat-Only May Challenge?

a) I also got pretty fat being a vegetarian. Although, my current opinion is that I ate a lot of junk back then. That junk was stuff like rice, bread, potatoes, etc. It's not stuff most people consider junk. I didn't eat a whole lot of sweets or processed foods.
OMG, thank you! You were a vegetarian?!? I confess that despite the good results I've been experiencing I've been afraid that this WOE would only work long term for those that naturally are inclined to eat meat. But if you were a vegetarian once, then there's hope for me!b) It's certainly possible that you're eating less. But, how could a change in your diet have nothing to do with a change in the amount you're eating. That's just insane logic. It's like saying your resting heart rate is down because you're exercising more and the fact that you started riding a bike to work has nothing to do with that.
Oh yes, I am eating less. That is one of the first benefits I felt as soon as I started keto, suddenly I was eating much less and not being hungry all the time. It's like (some) doctors prefer that people lose weight by suffering, as if being fat is inherently immoral and we should be punished for it.There are very few things that make me honestly say, "WTF?" This was one of them. I don't know how I would play this one. It depends on how reliant you are on these specific people approving future procedures for you.
I'll probably lie, less hassle. I hate to lie but they're not interested in what I say unless I show symptoms of thinking by my own head (bad, bad patient). We should be able to trust doctors, it's madness to be in a position where it's more advantageous to lie!0 -
As for your nutritionist, she sounds like a .... unqualified professional to have even said what she did. I also got very fat and sick while I was a vegetarian and even worse when we went vegan. So bad they put me on prozac because of violent hallucinations! That was the WORST time of my life. She's clearly old school and unqualified. I'd be looking for someone else. Your life should not be left to the mercy of one closed minded individual.
That being said, you have to live with the consequences and nobody else, so you need to weigh your options and maybe it's best not to let on what you're actually doing, as long as you're getting better, let them think it was THEIR advice that helped. If they're not listening anyway, it's wasted breath maybe.
It's unbelievable. Prior to finding these groups I was brainwashed (and happy about it). I would be the first to think that if I had problems it was because I was not strict enough, maybe I was not eating enough brown rice or whatever! And then I find that I was not alone in my struggle, there were/are others with the same problems.
I started LCHF after being diagnosed diabetic, to try to control my blood sugar without medication. I now think that becoming diabetic was the best thing that could happen to me at this point in time. Nothing short of a serious health scare would make me change my diet this much. And I'm so glad I did!0 -

Yeah, for over two years in my early 20s. I only stopped because my health was worse than when I started, and not getting better like it was supposed to. Turns out, the solution for me was the exact opposite. lol0 -

It looks like the solution for me it's the opposite, too. I only wish I had found it in my 20s! Better now than never, I guess.0
