Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday!

49 with an expected high of 71 and 0% chance of precipitation.

I need to feed the cats and get yesterday's cat bowls cleaned up, and get out to the post office to drop that package off. But before any of that, I need to finish this last mug of tea. I might run by Walgreens and get my flu shot and inquire about the new, improved, shingles shot that they haven't yet called me about, even though they should have got some more of it in at least twice since I was put on the list. They have my prescription for it too, so they know I need it.

As much as I love pretzels if someone gave me a soft pretzel that size that was still warm from being cooked and who knows what I might eat of it.
I would probably eat way too much of it too, so I don't even want to be near a mega-pretzel that big.

Hmm... Just curious were they fulfilled by Amazon or shipped direct from the vendor. Either way how do You make that sort of mistake ?
They were shipped direct from the vendor. I could see, maybe, getting the style wrong, or getting the size wrong, but getting BOTH wrong? That's just sloppy. I have no desire to do any further business with that seller, other than getting my refund, via Amazon. That was just ridiculous.
    Hi Ed
I wonder if Your not being called is the "The Squeaky Wheel Gets the Grease" Principle

Yup, OTOH that Giant Pretzel looks so tempting.

I have to wonder if the error was caused by non native English speakers. Your problem is why I tend to look for the fulfilled by Amazon label if I order something. As an example I ordered something yesterday that I could have had shipped by a Seller, However I ordered it fulfilled by Amazon even though that means a delay until they get a shipment.

    FOOD REVIEW!

I know y'all must be wondering when I'd post my next food review. Well, here it is!

    Mama Cozzi's Pizza Kitchen (Aldi)
    12 inch Take & Bake
    Garlic Butter & Cheese Pizza

Since I generally try to limit myself to just two slices of pizza, I also baked, for myself, a boneless half chicken breast that I marinated and then dredged in seasoned bread crumbs, for a light, crispy coating. Jason just had pizza and spicy marinara dipping sauce for his dinner.

Wine of choice: Martini & Rossi, Extra Dry Vermouth. Well, mixed with enough Ketel One vodka to make a nice, double, vodka martini with three olives on a toothpick.

Iced tea as my actual beverage, sweetened with stevia.

    My take on the pizza:

I added nothing, and baked it according to the package directions.

As the pizza was almost the same as cheesy breadsticks, only thinner, I served it with a delicious, spicy, marinara sauce that I discovered at Ingles. We usually dip cheesy breadsticks in some kind of tomato sauce.

I found out later that the sauce in question is only available at Ingles as it's one of their store brands. I thought Lara Lynn was their store brand but apparently they own more than one store brand. Anyway, as pre-prepared pasta sauces go, it's a winner, but it's not the star of this food review, so enough about the sauce.

The pizza had a decent crust, with nice, crispy edges and the cheese got all melty and gooey as expected. There was plenty of tasty garlic butter under the cheese.

I thought the taste was quite good on its own, but even better dipped in pasta sauce. I could certainly have enjoyed it without the sauce, but why limit myself?

The crust in the center of the pizza was not quite as crispy as the edges, but still good, and firm enough to pick up a slice without worrying about it collapsing and losing all the cheese.

My rating on this one is...(drum roll please)...

5 out of 5 for the "Take & Bake" category.

The crust had good flavor and crisp edges. The center was tasty and not too chewy. The garlic butter and cheese toppings worked well together.

Preparation was quick and easy, so dinner didn't take much effort to prepare and serve.

Would I have this again? YOU BET I WOULD!
Was the crust crispy too ?

Martini & Rossi, Extra Dry Vermouth is a wine ?

I would likely not eat it without opening a can of Pizza Sauce, is a can of it Heresy ? My brother buys one brand and uses it as Spaghetti sauce, And in Lasagna as well as when he makes Eggplant Parmesan. I have used it on Pasta and it works for me.

How did You cook it, On the oven rack with foil on a lower rack to catch any drips or on a cookie sheet or do You have a Pizza Stone ? The reason I ask is You show it on the cardboard and it looks like the package says not to leave it on the cardboard to bake.

    Have a Good Day

I stopped by Walgreen's on the way home from Publix, where I got my flu shot and a $10 gift card for getting it at Publix. The people at Walgreens assured me they were calling people on the waiting list as additional Shingles vaccine came in. Apparently this can't be made in great quantities, quickly. I inquired while I was at Publix and they didn't have any either. So I'll continue to wait, and squeak every so often. :)

Vermouth is a fortified wine. Sherry and marsala are also fortified wines. They have a higher alcohol content (usually around 17%) than the standard drinking wines (usually 11% to 13%, maybe rarely higher) and the fortified wines are generally either sipped as a cocktail or after dinner drink, by themselves, on the rocks, or mixed. Or, particularly with sherry and marsala, used in cooking. I suppose vermouth could be used in cooking too but have never actually researched that to see if people do. In a sense, I used vermouth when cooking, but only if I'm drinking a martini while cooking. :)

I've used canned spaghetti sauce before and have no major issues with it. If the can isn't lined with something though, the sauce can get something of a "tinned" taste. Generally, the folks doing the canning know this and it's not a problem. I don't leave any extra in the can though, putting it into a different container for refrigerator storage. Our jarred spaghetti sauce was delicious as a dip for the pizza.

I cooked it right on the rack. The cardboard circle was pretty clean so I slid it out onto that for cutting, to save having to slide it out onto something else. I DO have a pizza stone but was just following the instructions on the box, which provided a crispy outer ring of crust and, while slightly less crispy, firm center making it easy to pick up slices without making a mess or dumping the toppings off.

Adding the chicken breast, prepared the way I did (with Italian seasoning in the breading), completed a very nice meal for me. I used the spaghetti sauce as a dip for both the chicken and the pizza. The chicken required a longer cooking time and I wanted it cooked 450, so I started it first, in the toaster oven, and after the chicken had been cooking for a while I put the pizza in the big oven. They were both ready at about the same time, with the chicken nice, tender, not too dry, and with a tasty, crisp crust on the outside.

All in all, a meal I would gladly eat again.

Sometimes a small amount of cheese may drip off. If I am baking something where I feel pretty sure it will be drippy, it's either on a sheet pan or there is foil on the lower shelf to catch that. If it's just a tiny amount of cheese, I don't really worry about it. I decide based on how much cheese is on the pizza, and how likely I think it is that some will drip off.

I sometimes mix my own Italian but in this case I added Trader Joe's Italian Seasoning, along with some salt and pepper, to plain bread crumbs and then mixed it well before pressing crumbs on to the drained, brined chicken breast piece. I've generally been brining my boneless chicken an boneless pork chops lately and it really helps to keep them from coming out too dry, unless, of course, I overcook it.

    Time limited today Thursday...October 25, 2018.
Today my 'baby' turned 49! Dear god..I am old!! He's a weird, wonderful guy. We had a great lunch at RThomas yesterday...a lousy waiter, but I guess eventually if you go to a certain restaurant often enough, that is bound to happen.
Aldi's has a couple things I want, and then its off to Kroger...followed by lunch, and O's gymnastics.
Got my hair trimmed up yesterday...it is now 'officially' all one length hitting about my jaw line. still, after all this time, not sure I like it! (now that is sad...a whole year...oh well)
Overcast...but I don't think rain is predicted, until tomorrow...:) and since they keep saying rain...and we never get it...not so sure about that.
Carb free, and saturated fat off the wall....that is one lousy trade off, IMO. So is a Keto diet since I'm dishing out IMO's!!! Having said that...guess who did Atkins, twice. LOL shaking my head...I don't learn easily.

Ok, need to scoot...back later tonite? I think..

Down loaded the new operation system on my Macbook Air. Looks neat. I opted for the 'new' Dark Mode...not at all sure I like it..may go back to the old 'light' mode.

51 degrees, and not looking to see 60 today. I think that means I get to wear my new bright red jacket!!! Yes, Pollyanna at her best today.

    Later...

Back from ALDI and lunch has been eaten...including one of the Asian Veg burger...tasty! Cut it into small pieces and added it to my bowl or rice, chopped up french green beans, couple of teaspoons of the Hatch Green Salsa, some general spice mix, and I cooked the Veg. Medley (very nice small pieces of broc and cauli...the slices of carrot I cut in half) Lunch was nice, full of vegetables, and my 120 grams of rice...I'll stay full a long time today. Still, however need to eat an apple. Maybe later after Kroger..
For now, gotta scoot, (again). I bought several other things from Aldi like Bavarian Sweet Mustard, trying some minced garlic in a squeezy jar, oh, and some German mild roast ground coffee so I can play with my French Press. Have been just using it for my afternoon tea. May mess with the Coffee tomorrow...maybe...

    Later...
Interesting meal, Rice does not bother You then ? I find it leads to a craving for other carbs.

Does this sound weird ? My brother uses the drip coffee maker to also make tea using loose tea leaves.

    Have a Nice Day

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday! Rainy 47 with an expected high of 53 and 70% chance of rain, except that it's 100% chance at our house.

First load of laundry is folded and ready to put away in a while. Second load (whites and towels) is in the dryer now so there's no rush on putting the rest away yet. J is still asleep.

Need to get yesterday's cat bowls cleaned up and feed the cats.

May, if not TOO wet out, get out to a grocery but don't have anything gone critical on that list.

Rainy days are great for naps!

Alcohol mostly cooks out, if cooked long enough, but it's the other complex flavors in wine or liquor that add richness to the dish. Grape juice, for example, just wouldn't be the same at all and doesn't even sound appetizing to me, in a stew or sauce for savory foods.

The cage for the sugar gliders has trays under the bottom to catch...stuff. The trays sit on additional metal bars, and I put aluminum foil on the back part of those bars, with the edges pulled out to somewhat block access to the back of the cage, where Oliver has been climbing up. He gets a leg up from the window ledge on that side and climbs up.

He doesn't like aluminum foil much and it also partially blocks his path. So far he hasn't got back up there but we'll see. If that doesn't work, we may wrap foil all the way around under the back, anchoring on the legs, and partway up the back.

    Good Morning!
I'm in hiding. 45-50 wet degrees last night, and I let Tom E. spend the night in the house. Other than one short crying burst outside my bedroom door, he was a good house guest. I have to face it, that very, very soon he'll be an indoor kitty...blah. Besides the hair, he's a pest. :):). Already this morning. So, while he was eating his breakfast and kibble, and not paying attention, I grabbed my banana, coffee, phone and computer and very quietly let myself into my front room. :) He hasn't figured out where I am, or he'd be out there talking to me. LOL!

The new OS Mojave has been out for awhile...Ted wanted to know why I hadn't downloaded it...etc. Jack uses it at work along with PC's...believe it or not, all forms of Apple, plus the more standard PC's, have different interfaces, and appearances, etc...so when he designs something for a client he had to coordinate all of the different options that the client, or their affiliates might be using when they access whatever program, advert, etc .....so, last night at Olivia's gymnastics he and I chatted about Mojave. Like me he wasn't very impressed with the 'dark mode', and like me, he's giving it time to see if his like/dislikes resolve themselves...He did say that dark mode on PC's was Much Better. Hmmmm. Get with it Apple!!!

My good news, I was nicely surprised to see yet another pound go....um, where do they go? LOL. So that's 10 total since April. I'll take it! And yes Roger, I've done it eating a ton of rice. A few colorful veggies and mostly 3 fruits a day..some day's I miss and only have two fruits. oh, well!!! Sorta easy but not absence of salt. No oil. No, not even Olive Oil...mushrooms several meals a week, and onions most days as part of my veggies, and to flavor the rice. I also use a bit of any enjoyable soup as a flavoring. And that's it. Oh, sugar....I've been known to fix myself a sweet rice desert a couple times a week! oops!! Yep, this is carb heaven! Carbohydrates are energy foods. Gotta keep your little mitochondria happy..its what fuels your whole body!
    So, there's that....
I think I get to go shopping in my closet...I was having trouble yesterday in the grocery keeping my jeans 'up' where they belonged because I had my cell phone in one pocket and my car keys in another...I don't want to try on a smaller size just yet....cuz I don't want to be disappointed if smaller jeans don't button. That's a bummer...

Rain has been steady but not hard stormy kind...you'd put on a rain coat to go to the mailbox....but you wouldn't drown or be blown away. :) I think this is supposed to end tonite. I sure hope so.

Ed, wish I has a solution for the kitty vs sugar gliders cage. I suppose moving the cage is out of the question, or you'd have already done it. Naps sound like the perfect solution for this day! Enjoy!

    Later...

    Hi
I'm back home from walking and No Money found. The Temperature out the door was 45 degrees and as comfortable as it could be with the rain that forecast for today, Saturday. Since it was only rain falling I decided to go walking, while walking the wind started blowing. I did see a pair of walking appetites eating the landscaping at one of the Churches here in town :(

    Hi Ed
All day Friday they kept revising the weather forecast, Only as to when the rain and wind would arrive. They kept moving it later and later during Friday, and the last one I saw mentioned arriving around Midnight Friday in Saturday, I suspect it slowed down even more based on what I saw out the window prior to walking and while walking, Or to put it another way despite the steady rain the Puddles were not to bad.

Grape juice in foods, pass

Tomorrow is the day my brother does the first or only grocery store run. Of course he always seems to go when the crowds are at their worst. I think I will pass on going or maybe not, I do need a thing or two OTOH the temptations there :(

Obviously  It is the Sugar Glider fault for looking interesting and tasty to Oliver. Roger says tongue in cheek of course.

Good Luck, Hopefully that continues to work
