Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! Looks like another cool day with no chance of precipitation. 35 now but the expected high is 60. I need to get out to the grocery for a few things...maybe. Nothing has gone critical, but if my new glasses are ready then I might stop at Kroger while I am out. Or I could just go to Kroger anyway.

    Hi Ed
Did you get your new glasses? Avatar is too small, I can't tell ....or you've gotten frameless glasses?
Ted and I made a Whole Foods run before 10 this morning, by the time we left the parking lot was filling up.
I need to make a stop at Publix tomorrow after gym for a couple of things that I 'could' have picked up at WF, but will be cheaper at Publix.

I had a nice nap this afternoon! 'Bout time too! LOL.

I think Ted 'over baked' on the pies. Not saying a word though. I think there will be almost a half pie per person!! We tested the pies yesterday, I had a small springform vegan pie, and he made a shallow pie for the regular ones, (with butter) Both were delicious. So, maybe half pie won't be tooo outrageous. (yes it will, who am I kidding?)

Ted also raked the leaves today while I was at the gym today. AND the trees are BARE!!!! I don't have the heart to tell him that very shortly after T day, the leaves from a neighbors yard...a really huge, huge oak tree will fall. Those will fall mostly on my neighbors to the left, then slop over onto my yard, and if we don't 'catch' them, they will end up in my neighbor to the rights yard. All it takes is a few windy days and that one tree blankets 4 yards in very slow breaking up oak leaves....ugh! But love the tree.

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! I just gave Lilo her Tuesday shot (and treats) and she is in my lap, giving my left arm a bath. Another pleasant day here as I continue to wait on my new glasses. I hope they get here before Thanksgiving.

Blood glucose levels are still looking mostly great and clothes are still feeling loose so I think all is going well in than regard.

    Good Morning Ed!
Sun is shining, and expected to be 60 degrees today! Also the leaves have all fallen from the big maple trees. Gotta be a great day!
Heading for the gym shortly...and Publix for those last couple 'things'..and after that the day is all mine. Well, mine and the cat's......lol!
I finished my November Apple Watch monthly challenge yesterday. So smarty me thinks to self...good! I can just skip out on T Day. WRONG!!! Today on my watch appears a special T Day challenge...walk, run, (even wheel chair) a 5 k. Now, do I 'really' want to walk more than 3 miles on T Day? Nope! :(
I really enjoyed watching Emmy and the Hard Times butter extender.... I don't remember Mom doing that, then again, we had a milk cow...so there was no real need. I do remember margarine in plastic pouches (cow was gone) ...white yucky looking with a little capsule of yellow color. It was a treat to be allowed to break it and then squish the whole mess with your fingers thru the plastic pouch till all the yucky looking margarine was a pretty yellow. I thought that was the best fun......
    Ok, I'm heading out.
Maybe today for the glasses??? I can't believe I'm getting excited because YOU are getting new glasses. I must be really living a boring life!! (not)...

Howdy all y'all. It's wet wonderful Wednesday! A bit warmer today with morning rain. I need to get out to the grocery and I am still waiting for my new glasses! I may call the optician this afternoon to inquire, if he hasn't called by then, or go to a different Kroger than my usual one and just stop by to inquire.

    Good Morning Ed,
It's wet outside. And skipping out of the gym would be really, really easy...but..better today than tomorrow, right?
I think I'm set, and only need banana's, maybe. I think I have enough to last thru Friday...and I'm sure I'll be at the gym and can dash next door to pick up the daily bananas. LOL!
Today I make the Cranberry Cinnamon Vinaigrette, and later today can tear up the dandelion, radicchio, and the 'sweet' greens. This salad also features dried apple chips and delicata squash!!!
For right now, heading to my shower, and the gym..

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! Happy Thanksgiving! It's officially the start of the over a month long end of year holiday season. Decorations! Parades! Parties! (Taste everything. Eat nothing.)

    And holiday movies...

So which review is it for Rudolph?

Fiendish fat man and his malicious minions bully and harass youngsters who happen to be "different", until the youngsters flee, only to find they can't even be accepted by others who are "different" unless they can provide a service to those others. Along the way, they are almost killed by a misunderstood monster who just wants to be loved and can't help it that his hunger makes him do terrible things. In the end, the misfits manage to perform services that endear them to everyone...for the moment, but how long can it last until the hatred resurfaces?

    OR

Delightful tale of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, showing how love and perseverance can overcome just about any adversity, including intolerance and bigotry, as Rudolph saves Christmas and everyone learns that being different is not such a bad thing after all.

Howdy all y'all. It's Black Friday! Did I eat too much? Oh, yes...but it's only once a year and the dietician at my endocrinology office, several years ago, told us to let it go (within reason) for Thanksgiving, as it's only once a year. I agree. Otherwise I'd just feel deprived, hungry, hurt, and maybe even a little bit angry and depressed, that everyone else is enjoying all that great food but NOT ME.

Of course "within reason" is rather subjective...I didn't eat the WHOLE PECAN PIE, but, before the day was over, I did have a small sliver. I ate too much dressing/stuffing, too many rolls, and some potato salad and dessert that I really did not need. Too much meat too, but that doesn't spike my blood glucose levels. Half a bottle of nouveau wine helped take the edge off the carbs, a little, and went well with the meal.

The Thanksgiving feast this year (*** means I made it myself):

    Stuffed eggs*** (eaten as appetizer)
    Sliced ham
    Sliced Cajun seasoned turkey
    Cornbread dressing with turkey sausage
Brown turkey gravy for the dressing
    Potato salad***
    French green peas***
    Vegetarian light bread dressing
    Corn
    Parker House rolls
    Cranberry orange relish***

    Pumpkin Mousse Cup
Pecan pie and whipped topping were also available but we decided to forego that until later. That was a near bedtime extra dessert.

Wine of choice: Trader Joe's Charles Shaw Nouveau, chilled.

I also had a tall glass of stevia sweetened iced tea.

    Good morning Ed!
So we survived yet another food fest holiday! I also ate too much. Brussels Sprouts, roasted carrots with parsnips, cranberry sauce dressing (no meat) though I suspect there could have been some meat broth??? Didn't ask. It was delicious. (I know there was veg broth, saw the empty container in the trash..giggle giggle) oh, yes, and two rolls, naked!
Ted's pies were wonderful, but I knew that going in, as he'd made a 'trial run with my oven set of pies' last Tuesday. So we've been eating apple pies for days now! LOL!
Everyone loved my salad with the cranberry Cinnamon salad dressing*** (copying your example here). The roasted delicata squash worked well with the baby kale, spinach, & other mixed greens...like dandelion, radicchio, arugula, etc. as did the pomegranate seeds, cinnamon sugared pecans, etc. I keep making these salads and every year they swear I make the best salads, and that this years was the very best....I have the feeling I'll be making salads til I croak! :). Could be worse I guess. :)
Ok, gym time...gotta do it, didn't yesterday so today is not an option!!

Looks really good! Spent an extra 15 minutes at the gym this morning...need to do that all the coming week. Will let you know how THAT goes!
Time to get my 'Christmas brain engaged'. Not planing a tree, but I do have a prelit, and very full and pretty garland that I want to put up on the mantle...and my Santa's, red towels in the bathroom, etc. Just little touches that remind me its Christmas, and it's time to think of others and to be grateful for all the people I've crossed paths with.
But right now? time to think about dinner!! :) Thinking split pea soup.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! And...there is a post-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving party tonight. Just what I need. I haven't even finished with all my Thanksgiving leftovers yet, though I have made a significant dent in them. I am bringing a small casserole of broccoli au gratin that I bought at the grocery. It just occured to me that I could also make a noodle casserole, using most (or all) the remaining leftover turkey and/or ham...hmmm. Something to ponder as I drink my morning tea. I would be bringing a vegetarian dish, in the broccoli casserole, regardless.

But I generally like to have just about enough Thanksgiving leftovers to see me through most of the meals during the weekend so I can have a really lazy weekend and not cook much. So I may save the turkey and ham for that, and then, if any is still left, make that noodle casserole (smaller) for me to eat in the first part of the week.

It's hard to believe that today is the last day of November! Tomorrow I open the first panel in my Advent wine calendar, to see what kind of wine I will be drinking with dinner for the first night of December. It has 24 small bottles of wine, each just about right for one person. I guess a couple could share and each have a pretty small glass of wine, if desired. Luckily(?) I am married to a non-wine drinker! I get the wine all to myself. J has been known to, very rarely, sip a little sweet (blech!) wine, but I am really the wino...er wine drinker in this household, and prefer dry wines, especially reds. If I encounter a bottle of sweet (blech!) wine in the calendar and am not home alone that night, J might get some wine.

OK, I can take a little sweet (blech!) wine on occasion, but not very much as, then, it will spike my blood glucose and give me a headache unless accompanied by a decent amount of protein and fat, in a meal, and still limit that wine to a small glass or, at most, two small glasses. They can be combined into one medium glass I suppose.

I will have to open the compartments on the morning of each corresponding day, to see if the wine for the day needs to be chilled or can be served at room temperature. If it needs to be chilled, I can just pop it into the refrigerator for the day. If not, I will set in on the counter as an inspiration for dinner.

Any glass with wine in it is a wine glass.

    Good Morning Ed!
I've just watched Emmy and her huge assortment of KitKats. Who knew there could be so many flavors, chocolate types, etc.
Had my second day of apple pie for breakfast. There is still one big serving or two more normal sized slices of the vegan apple pie that Ted baked for me! I've also had 2 cups of 50mg caffeine mushroom coffee. So, I'm ready to tackle the world, though I might need to get some street clothes on. LOL!!

Will be making an appearance at the gym today. Yesterday was a hoot. I went in about 10:30, chatted with the front desk crew a few minutes, and discovered somebody was using 'my machine'.! LOL! So I headed for a treadmill, and about 15 minutes into my walk, one of the desk crew hurried over to tell me my machine was available!! I love these kids. So in the end I did 45 minutes of cardio instead of the usual 30-35 minutes. I need to do that more often!

Will tackle the 'Saturday chores' before I go. Tomorrow starts a new month of challenges..I'm hoping its a super easy challenge...Dec. is a very busy time. Right?

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! It's 62 with an expected high of 62 and 10% chance of precipitation. The temperature will start plummeting this afternoon though.

The wine calendar begins TODAY! Tonight's wine is now in the refrigerator, as it needs to be chilled.

    Well, I'm awake.mostly!
Fell back asleep while reading morning news on my iPad.
Not much on 'the list' today, except my two ole buddies...Gym, and the ever present Laundry! (not to be confused with Tom Landry!) LOL.

Was your group dinner OK? Good food?

And I'm assuming the bottle of French wine, was from your Advent Calendar? That should be fun each morning!

I'm not out of my jammies yet, so I think I'll start there and then see how the day goes!

Oh, did I tell you that 3 of my Phalaenopsis plants are already putting up bloom stalks!!!! Early birds, but it may very well extend the bloom season past the usual! I had a neighbor in TN once who got a Phalaenopsis from her daughter in FL, and she had what had to have been the absolute perfect window....it bloomed non-stop for several years...may still be blooming, IDN, I moved to GA!

I actually had chicken that was green once, at an Indian lunch buffet in Memphis. I liked it, but it must not have been very popular. I never saw it on the buffet after that. I know that the young lady I was with, who generally orders a chicken dish at Indian restaurants, wouldn't even try it. She couldn't get past the color. It didn't sport any of the bright green leaves that appear to be all over the chicken in the preview for this video, so I don't know if I have tried THIS green chicken or not.

    Hi Ed
I'm here. Barked 2 of my left foot toes in the very early morning on my way to the loo! Two toes bleeding, and one already black, the little toe looks like it will also be black, maybe not just quite as intense. Cut the corner too tight, and hit the leg of a chair...OUCHIE!!! The toes had scabbed, and didn't hurt until just a bit ago, when I got out of the shower...scabs had softened and are gone, bleeding is back. Trying to find shoes that I can wear..Walking not fun, today. Hopefully tomorrow I can get to the gym. Not happening today. Walking not comfortable or fun.

Ted got the greenery for the mantle out of storage, and I hope to have that on the mantle, and lit before bedtime! The rest of the mantle decor will have to wait. Also going thru ALL of the containers that say 'Christmas', and hope to cull out things that no longer look decent, can't use, etc.

Hoping for a better day tomorrow!

Your wine Advent Calendar is going to be a lot of fun! Enjoying hearing about it and seeing the pix.

Watched a video the other day...cats and Christmas trees. A recipe for disaster! And funny to watch.

    Have a good evening...

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! I woke up at 6:00. I got the call (finally!) late yesterday afternoon that my new glasses are ready so I will go and pick those up later this morning. While I am out, I guess I will do the needed grocery shopping and make sure I have plenty to last until the weekend.

They are scheduled to pour a new driveway on Thursday and I won't be able to use it until Saturday, at the earliest. I COULD park across the street before they pour it, but I think I can handle a couple of days without the use of my vehicle. In a pinch, Walgreen's, Aldi, Publix, and Target are all within walking distance.

Today's day 3 wine calendar entry is from Italy. As it should be served chilled, it is residing in the refrigerator now, until dinner time.

    Hey! Good Morning!
Can't wait to see the new glasses!
I've put the garland on the fireplace mantle this morning, with some assistance from Ted...who God love him had to complicate things by putting it on a 'Smart Plug'...I just plug them in, and let them stay lit, day and night til New Years! My living room is not very light, so it looks fine, and its a really bright night light in the overnight hours, when I used to roam the house on occasion...(occasion being I either couldn't sleep, wanted to open the dishwasher that I'd started at bed time, so in the morning everything was quite dry, etc)....No longer. Between Tom now sleeping in the living room...he's moved again, and Maya also spending at least part of the night in the dining room...roaming past about midnight disturbs the zoo! LOL!

WOW! And new driveway this week too! Nice of the county to pour a Christmas Gift for you! ;) Be sure to carve your initials, J's and the date! Especially the date so if you ever need a reference you'll have it in a handy place!!

Looking at today's bottle of wine, I know someone who really likes wine as you do.. my DIL. Could you share the details with me, so I can have one for her next December??? I think she'd like that!

And, I've signed up for MisFits..a weekly delivery of organic fruit and veg's that are not quite perfect enough to sell at Kroger or Publix. I can cancel at any time, so if it's not a 'For Me, Misfit' I can dump it. It also can be scheduled to come every other week, so we'll see how the amount works too. Kinda excited about it. Will share the details when I get my first box. I 'THINK' this Friday...um, I thought there was a weeks lag, but my email today makes me think that Fed X will be visiting this week! Nice. So, time to use up all the vegetables in the refrigerator, and not over buy, except my banana's for the week. Stay Tuned!!!!

So, its ten thirty, and you know who is still in her jammies and robe....time ... ha! Past time to be dressed and off the screens for awhile! Lest the noon news catch me in night clothes! LOL!

They became available at Kroger on November 1, in limited supply. I was lucky to get one before they sold out as Y had waited a whole week! When I looked for them, they had only two left, at $79.99 each. I quickly put one in my cart, and rolled it around with me while I did the rest of my shopping.

I understand Aldi had one too, but did not see any at my Aldi. Aldi also had a cheese calendar, supposedly coordinated with the wine calendar, so that each night one could have wine and cheese before or after dinner, or with dinner I suppose.

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! It's pretty cold now, but supposed to get to a pretty nice temperature later. I have been up for a while, but busy with this and that. Not a lot on the agenda today.

The day 4 entry in the wine calendar is from Merlot, from Chile. I think I will enjoy this one.

    Hey Ed,
Thanks for the wine advent calendar info. I've added Nov. 1st, 2020 to my calendar to remind me next year.
Really do like your new glasses frames! Good job picking the frames. I should take you with me next time I need new frames. (and since I tend to sleep at least part of any given night wearing my glasses, breakage is omnipresent!!!
Its late, but I think it must be nap time..eyes wanting to slam shut!
Put up the mantle greenery..pre lit, and some added bits of berries, pinecones, etc. Bought several many years ago from QVC. Still in good shape. Unpacked all my Santa's and put them on the pie rack, etc. Still need to do the hall table...just a runner and 3 ivory colored wax Christmas tree shaped, battery operated fake candles! Should take about 10 minutes :)

I'm finding out my child has no patience for shopping. YIKES... I think I will start planning more 'solo' shopping events.

Later tonite I will go to the MisFits web site and see what will be in my Friday box of fruit and vegetables! Thinking this may be a lot of fun. Fortunately I am not a picky eater, unless I am required to cook the tomatoes. I just can't get around cooked tomatoes.

Later tonite I will go to the MisFits web site and see what will be in my Friday box of fruit and vegetables! Thinking this may be a lot of fun. Fortunately I am not a picky eater, unless I am required to cook the tomatoes. I just can't get around cooked tomatoes.

    Later...

If the tomatoes have to be cooked...then puree them and make spaghetti gravy! I will be interested in how the veggies are. I had a veggie (and fruit) delivery in the past from a now defunct group but toward the end of my membership the quality (and correctness) of my pre-selected orders were both slipping badly. One shipment subbed sour lemons for the Meyer lemons I had ordered! They don't look very much alike and certainly don't taste the same.

New driveway still scheduled for first thing Thursday morning! Well, they are replacing the bottom half that they destroyed for the sidewalk...

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! Today they are scheduled to finally put the bottom half of my driveway back in, in conjunction with the sidewalk project. I am prepared to stay home. Plenty of food, and drinkable water.

Speaking of water, it looks like they may be moving my water meter today too, based on what they dug yesterday, by the road near it. It looks like they may be planning to have it right in the sidewalk. That would certainly make it easier for access in the future. Hopefully they will let me know before they turn my water off to do that.

Day 5 in the wine calendar is from New Zealand.

    Hi Ed!
Happy Drive and Sidewalk Day! Hope you send pix! Water meter? next to the sidewalk, or under the sidewalk... Oh never mind, I read it again, and now I get it! Yes, it would be handy for the meter reader etc. Do you still have meter readers for the water? I know I do. The gas meter, and I think the electric meter are 'newer models' I see the gas truck drive up the street and round the cul-de-sac, and down the street....would be a boring job, but so much easier than hoofing it up and down all the streets in Gwinnett county!!

I've gotta go back and watch Emmy...looks interesting.

I too am interested in what I will get, how much control over choice of content, comes in my box. Having grown up in a family who had a big garden, I know how to deal with mis shaped veggies and fruit!

Ok, my coffee is cold for the second time this morning, so its time for me to go!

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday! The driveway is still curing, but looks great. I am sure that by tomorrow it will be fine to drive on. I saw a couple of the workers standing on it already this morning so it's hard enough to walk on.

Not a lot on the agenda today. I think I will go through some old boxes of stuff from the last move and try to be ruthless with the discards. I wouldn't be surprised to find some boxes from the move before that! We have never been good about going through them right after moving as we should. We are making headway though as we want to turn the junk room into more usable space. Right now one corner of it is sort of usable...

The day 6 wine selection is from right here in the good old USA. California, to be a bit more precise.

    Good Morning Ed!
Did you remember to 'carve' the date, and your name or initals on that new concrete??? :)
Today, Fed Ex is bringing me a box of organic fruit and vegetables. I can hardly wait...though I don't have a choice here do I? LOL!
Did you know you can buy the meatless sausages from Amazon?!?!? I looked at Kroger, where I got the first package, and nada! There were the burgers, but no sausages. I have to wonder if that would be a 'safe' thing to do...like are they packed in gel packs or something. Will have to look into this, also there were some I didn't know existed, like the 'hot sausages', etc. Yep, thought of you

I think today will be a gym only day...or maybe stop for lottery tickets. But no food shopping til I get my hands on my misfits box.

Hope you make some progress on the unpacking of the last move! I still have at least one box, that moved to Atlanta from TN, and ATL to Gwinnett County...I think its full of Jack and Ted's art work. Someday I'll get brave and open it! I hope to find some of Ted's 'student work' from his days in Savannah at SCAD. In particular, at least one of his sketch books, that he painted shut, page by page. He did several of his books that way because of a special event at the High Museum. I threw a fit...so one year for Christmas he gave me one of the painted shut books. :( Its a long story, way too long for here.

Time is flying by....need to get to the gym!

I did not as I preferred leaving it pristine. Apparently a deer and someone not so dear disagreed with that opinion though. At least the deer declined to walk across and cause additional damage. And the driveway has a little character. Literally!
