    Hi
I'm back home from walking and nothing was found. Yesterday I neglected to mention that in addition to the pennies I found I found a unused 1 cent stamp on the Post Office floor as I was mailing off the payments for the Gas & Electric and Credit Card bills. The Temperature out the door was showing 35 degrees

Seems a bit strange to me

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! Temperatures are supposed to be nice but we are expecting thunder and rain after noon. I need to get out to Kroger or at least Ingle's before that happens if I can. I am low on paper towels and my preferred brand is made by Kroger. On the other hand, not yet critically low and Ingle's is likely to have a better price on some other items I need, assuming they have enough in stock, which is sometimes an issue at any grocery.
    Hello Ed
We had good news yesterday, The legislation to pass Legalized Marijuana was withdrawn by the Governor. My guess is that happened when he could not get enough votes to pass it and ha hates losing or criticism so he can avoid a loss.

For Paper Towels I have been buying the CostCo brand after trying them, Kleenex in the 10 pack and Charmin toilet paper since so far it has not suffered the width shrinkage of other brands. I prefer to avoid driving in the rain also, It is not my driving skills it is the others on the road.

How to Make Pan-Seared Pork Chops and Corn Fritters
Those Look pretty good to me. Pork Chops demand a good homemade gravy, I do not really remember ever having Corn Fritters, I must have but...
I made it out and back well before the rain! I left a bit after 9:00 and got back home at 10:15. All is unloaded and put away, and traffic between home and Kroger was not a problem at all.

My bonus for this trip was finding four lamb shanks in the "used meat" rack along with a pound of 80/20 ground chuck. All of those are now resting up from their travels, in the freezers.
Way to go, Used meat rack is a strange way to put it IMO, I would have thought that a rack marked clearance or marked down would be better. The Local ShopRite has a clearance section where the put any meats marked down. Those are usually some cut or whole Chickens. We did Buy a Marked down ham recently at $0.59 a pound. That went right into the freezer. My brother should be picking up the free ham earned by spending $400 in a defined time period on Wednesday. We were less that $3 from that goal Sunday  After last year he wants to get it right away as somehow someone redeemed the free ham in south NJ last year and he had to spend some time at the Courtesy Counter to get one for us.

    Have a Good Day

Howdy all y"all. It's terrific Tuesday! Orion was helping me type until he heard Lilo make a noise in the kitchen and had to investigate.

It looks like it will be another pleasant day, at least as far as temperature, with 50% chance of, again, mostly afternoon/evening rain.

I might get out to Aldi this morning for a few items.

I've called it "used meat" for many years, just to be silly. We also get most of our cats from the "used cat lot" but that isn't to save money, but to help poor, homeless, often abandoned felines in finding a happy "furever" home.

I don't know how the loyalty points work for your grocery. At Kroger one can use the actual card, enter the card ID number, or use the (optional) programmed in phone number, to collect or redeem the points. They don't have to have a phone number associated with the card, but it is convenient if, for some reason, the card can't be scanned, as most people won't have memorized the card ID number.

Anyone who knows the phone number I had associated with the card could use my points. They wouldn't be likely to know my card ID but could enter that if they did know it. If they had a similar phone number and made a typo to accidentally use my phone number, that would access my account of course.

Good luck getting the ham this year!

    Hello Ed
    Was Orion really helping or...

Today is forecast to be below normal and is starting off that way. Temps in the 60s for the weekend are forecast. The Allergy season is off to a early start due to the stretch of warm weather we had.

Calling it the used cat lot makes some sense. I am ambivalent regarding some locales that require any pet stores to only sell rescued animals. This would seem to be the end of anyone that ones a pure bred animal.

I suppose it could be called a loyalty card. Most of the year it just saves some money on certain items at the checkout and a couple of times a year such as Thanksgiving and Easter spending $400 in a certain time period gets You free meat. This time You can get a Ham or pay $0.10 a pound more for the better end, or pay a bit more for a spiral sliced ham or Kosher roasting chicken for example.

One possibility is also that some picked a discarded Receipt that has the key tag number printed on it, unlikely as it was redeemed in south NJ and not locally. I anticipate no problem as his shopping today will put it over the $400 mark and he will redeem for the free ham today to be sure that does not happen again.

The broccoli was lightly buttered, but some of it did end up with the sauce on it as well, and that was quite tasty on the broccoli. There is plenty of the sauce to go around, so I may well do that deliberately when dishing up leftovers.

While it sounds generic, Tuesday Night Red is actually not a blend, being all Cabernet Sauvignon. It's a pleasant, unassuming wine that is better than one might expect. They also bottle a Tuesday Night White that is, likewise, a pleasant, unassuming Chardonnay. I like them both and am always glad to get more.

Full day. Stopped by Walmart to pick up stuff for cat on my way to Atlanta and my chiro. She's so great. I was officially released from my car accident. Then on to Whole Foods, and this and that, along with a discussion with a total stranger about broccoli micro greens vs broccoli sprouts. She's been vegan since 1999 I think she said I owned up to 7 years myself, wishing I'd been at it longer...home and lunch at 3:30 :) Yes I was hungry...and yes it included Chicken Fried Tofu, along with several salad's I'd found on the cold bar...consider cucumber diced into about a healthy one quarter dice with cilantro!!! That turned out to be really tasty! And something 'simple' to do at home! So, now all I need is summer and a nice crop of cukes! After my late lunch it was time to hit 'my' gym, the bike. I only lasted 15 minutes...I really do hate that recumbent bike. And after watching the news, and eating a light supper, I ran out to Publix to buy a Power Ball ticket :) (a girl can dream, right?) So, now here I am. Caught up with reading, but several vid's yet to watch. I did watch the Vegan Chicken. Loved the mushroom sautè and I think the broccoli was closer to broccolini but.....
Now, on my way to bed, and Scrabble with Ted, and some word games, Suduko, etc. Then a long sleep.

Roger your walking temperatures are less than consistent, and way to cold for my old bones! :) I was glad to see that you found a couple cents the other day...its been awhile :)

Ed, you managed to get around the rains/storms we've had the past couple days! Me too, so far. I understand tomorrow may be more of the same. I still need a trip to Kroger tomorrow, and then Friday a few things to pick up at Costco along with my scripts.

Take care, and I hope to get here tomorrow a good bit earlier......

    Hi Valerie
Do Your Cucumbers get borers in the vines ? Last year we had borers in the Zucchini and the melon vines and the Deer and or squirrels ruined the Melons as they were nearly ripe enough to pick.

Either Your Whole Foods ready to eat section is better than the one near here or it could be my fault as I tend to look at the Hot foods section.

The temperatures are all over the place lately :(

I try and stay away from CostCo except for a once a month visit. The last Visit in addition to AAA batteries and Kleenex I did not avoid temptation and bought 4 of their Sausage Sandwiches to freeze and a Chicken Bake, What I ended up doing was eating the Chicken Bake and two of the Sausage sandwiches the same day. I did throw out the rolls from the Sausage Sandwiches and the scale was not too bad the next morning. Likely due to eating the Chicken bake on my return home and the only foods that day were the foods from CostCo.

    Good Luck with Your Shopping

    12 hours earlier from yesterday!
    Good Morning!
Ed....Thanks for the info on the Tuesday red Wine. Do you buy it locally? I think my DIL might like that...and she has an early June birthday...this would go nicely with her Amazon C/C that she uses to buy 'summer reading' :)

Roger, I guess you could call it Mock Chicken, but why bother? :) I can't eat it. I used to eat the protein isolates, and seitan...I've dropped almost all of that. You might want to share the Beans and Rice video with your brother... Some interesting seasonings and prep and cooking stuff. I've used small red beans, and I like them! (I find them at the Mex. Market next door from the gym!

Ed's going to Aldi, perhaps...I'm going to Kroger for SURE! Several 'critical' the Kroger list! I've put it off all week, and today's the day! Thanks Ed, for a new way to look at my lists! Critical or (fill in the blank) Wants?

I also need to spend a few hours with the yard. Full of twigs AGAIN, and red Maple blossoms all over my driveway, sidewalk, and porch. The blower will make quick work of that chore...sadly the cutting back, trimming, etc will take a bit longer.

Today is a gym day......:( or :)...hmmm. Gotta do it though.

I also need to go back and hunt up the sauce you both are talking about...I've learned to make sauces beyond 'gravy'. They do help perk up old standby foods!

Ok, I am off...need to jump into my gym clothes. (if you take that literally, I might not make it there in this lifetime!) No jumping for this ole gal. :)

I get it (when they have it) from my wine club, in a mixed crate of 15 or 18 bottles of assorted wine. It's a fairly small batch production and not always available. I'm sure the folks at Trader Joe's could help you find a nice, reasonably priced Cabernet Sauvignon that would be good.

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! Again, it's a bit chilly this morning, but look's like it will be a pretty nice day overall. Might get out to Aldi for a few things but nothing is critical.
    Hello Ed
As a member of the procrastinators league I tend to put any shopping off until I have several critical needs.
Every Way to Cook an Egg (59 Methods) | Bon Appétit
Basically IMO there are only a few ways to cook an egg and have it be edible. Those would be Hard Boiled as they are versatile, in a well done omelet and Scrambled until hard all the way through. OTOH I do like them in a McDs Egg McMuffin where they are cooked in a ring to fit the English Muffin with the Yolk punctured and well done.
Ultimate Vegan Egg Taste Test! Are They Worth It?
Only a couple of those looked anything like an egg. Those would be one or two of the Scrambled Eggs if anyone cares.
4 GIANT Foods You Should Try
Way to big so I will pass on trying them. I have been sticking to the NS plan and currently as a result I am not experiencing cravings.
How to Make Chinese Dishes Like Three-Cup Chicken and Smashed Cucumbers
Smashed Cucumbers, Pass. That seemed like a lot of ginger in the three cup chicken and I prefer The Chicken breast and my brother prefers Legs and thighs so buying a whole chicken works out well.
Target Spring Grocery Haul - 10 Healthy Items To Buy..And What To Avoid!
The list of recipes looked interesting. I am guilty of not reading the labels as carefully as I should. What I end up looking at is the Calories per serving and how many servings as well as Total Carbs per serving.

Ed....Thanks for the info on the Tuesday red Wine. Do you buy it locally? I think my DIL might like that...and she has an early June birthday...this would go nicely with her Amazon C/C that she uses to buy 'summer reading' :)
Thanks for the reply to Valerie, that answered my question from yesterday too.

    Have a Good Day
