    Good Morning Ed!
Dividing my time between chores and fun projects!
Got a bit of a scare this morning..somebody one street over is burning something..a ton of smoke, and then the wind shifts and blows the smoke back the other way. Ted had seen the burning when he walked Maya a little bit ago.

Many years ago, when I was still working at the Red Cross at night, and sleeping daytime, I was woke by somebody pounding on my house..people were yelling fire and pointing towards the woods. That fire was licking my backyard fence. Talk about becoming wide awake in a hurry.
The roar of the fire was awful...People I didn't even know had garden hoses...and best of all, the firetruck was coming up the street. I figure I was about 10 minutes from becoming a crispy! There's more to the story, but too long for here. Firemen put the fire out, everyone returned garden hoses that they'd just grabbed as they saw them, it was an exciting day, until.... the cop showed up.

Ted Tells me I need to go look at my tomatoes...he gets all excited when one ripens...he won't EAT one, but ... I'm not sure this time, just by his manner, and evasive answers to my questions that I'm going to find something great. I just hope the squirrels have not found my tomatoes. Jack and Jenn have given up on tomatoes, for that very reason. And worse of all, the little furry tailed yard rats don't just eat/taste one, Noooo, they taste them all.

Hope you got out to pick your blueberries, should see showers late afternoon today and ending about dark time!

    Have a great day...

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! Cool this morning, with a small chance of rain, but a much bigger chance of rain this afternoon. I might do a little light housework.

    Good Morning Ed!
seeing the bumble bee butt made my day! I've never seen one totally in the flower! LOL. Hope the little guy could get back out!
So, I went out as 'directed' by Ted to see my tomatoes...he was just excited cuz there are about 4 or so teeny-tiny little toms. I'll be excited when that golf ball sized one becomes baseball size and red! LOL!

Gym is on my list today, and not anything else critical on my list!

Hope you've had a good walk this morning. Its a pretty day for an early morning walk! No, I'm not doing it, I may sit outside and watch Ted's crazy birds flitting around. We sat outside the other day, it was quite pleasant. Then some little piece of bark fell from above on to the table..and then another, and another...there was a bratty squirrel above us throwing down small pieces of bark at us! Darn tree rats!

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! Too sticky outside to walk and there's too much chance of getting drenched. I do need to find Lilo in a bit for her Tuesday shot, which I have ready near the stove. Perhaps some light house cleaning today.

    Hi Ed,
making a quick pit stop to put away the groceries I just bought...gonna finish my coffee, and then off to the gym. I've already made my online payment to Verizon this morning!
Sitting with a cold pack on the back of my right knee. Little ssucker hurts with each step I take. I will have an Aleve with my early lunch when I get home, I'm hoping that using that machine will help.
I've gotten my 2 lottery tickets. I could use a big pile of cash!!! (wouldn't nearly everybody?)
Half inch of rain on the gauge from yesterday and last night. I'd like to see a bit more before we hit our 'dry' season.
Wonder how much of the Dust storm we'll see here in GA?
Did I tell you I found frisee ? At Whole Foods the other day. At check-out, they were teasing me saying I was the only one who ever bought that! So, I had part of it last night some smashed up avocado and drizzle of Balsamic Glaze. Oh, its heaven!
RIght now I have overloaded my steamer basket with cauli, brocc. carrots, and sweet potato rounds. Will have some for lunch, AND will have at least 2 more meals worth of veggies for what ever becomes the 'main'..I also intend to make some rice, and rinse and refrigerate some beans...so, there will be minimal cooking for a few days around here!

Today's wine delivery to help restock the wine racks. Two or three old favorites and a nice selection of new (to me) wines that I look forward to trying.

My wine club mostly sells private label wines from relatively small wineries, though I do have fond memories of the year I was able to snag a case of Pat Paulsen California Red from them, at a good price. Never saw it on the website again.

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! It was sticky out there again this morning, but I needed to get to Kroger anyway, so I went early to take advantage of senior shopping hours for Wednesday morning. Not many shoppers in the store at all, but a lot of shelf stocking going on that was somewhat in the way.

Our Kroger has apparently stopped carrying bran flakes (any brand) and we really don't want raisin bran, so I guess I will have to look at Ingles or Publix soon to get that item. After the first, when I go to Petsmart for more canned cat food, I can try to get to a grocery as well, for the bran flakes.

    Good Morning Ed.
Well this day started off weird. I woke, and soon after kept hearing (before hearing aids) this weird low sound...wondered what the heck Ted was doing???
Then I decided it was thunder...(I have black out curtains, from when I worked nights and needed dark in daytime)..pretty quickly decided this was NOT thunder....
Then it hit me....they were power washing the house so it can dry (?) by the weekend and be painted. Well.....and so it began...

Finishing my cup of coffee, and then will shower and leave for Decatur to see Dr Pat Gibson. I need to see her! My back is all out of shape I think. Strange quirky little bits of pain/discomfort here and there. Nice thing about Dr. Pat...no snapping or cracking type adjustments....just nice easy manipulation.

Houses being/or gonna be painted in this neighborhood. Most all have white trim. Still on the fence about that...and then there is the garage door and the shutters. Right now they are dark navy blue. (Sherwin Williams signature blue) This could be either ok, or a disaster...LOL! I do love some blue and green combo's...They were popular in the 60's. though maybe not so much for house paint...but appliances, accessories , etc.

Glad you got your walk in early.. It's gonna be a steamy sauna outside shortly. And then more rain??? No complaints from me...cuz we're at the cusp of 'dry season'...need as much in reserves in the soil for those days.

Wonder if your Kroger is just temp. out of Bran Flakes? Surely sugar pops, fruity little 'O's, and such haven't taken over the Bran Flakes. I used to give my kids Raisin Bran, and until I was sent home to let my gall bladder 'rest' before surgery..and I found myself picking out the raisins from their cereal!!!! Needless to say I couldn't eat them, so for 3 or 4 days pre-op my kids got 'real' Raisin Bran!

Power washing about done...so it's time to move toward shower time.

Howdy all y'all. It's thrilling Thursday! Another sticky morning, with 100% humidity out there right now, and it looks like rain, so no walk this morning.

Maybe a bit of housework today.

When I went out about 5:30, it wasn't technically raining, but I could hear it "raining" in all the trees. I think the 100% humidity had met the dewpoint and the water in the air was condensing on the leaves and dropping off. As my walk would have taken me under many trees, and the humidity was so high that my clothes would have wicked moisture and gotten all damp and uncomfortable, I just came inside and ate breakfast instead.

Maybe a bit of housework today.

Howdy all y'all. It's fantastic Friday! It was a bit sticky this morning, but only wispy cloud fragments in the sky, despite the Weather Channel claiming it was CLEAR.

I headed out about 5:40 and the sun was nearly over the horizon as I returned home about an hour later. I picked up the pace a bit this morning, as my muscles seemed well rested, so my walk took 15 or 20 minutes less than usual, though I went the same distance. No breaks or sit downs this morning and no long waits at traffic lights either.

My wine club finally got back to me, and gave me a $20 credit for the "bad" substitution in that one order, and, coincidentally, they announced a summer special of 15 bottles of assorted red wines for $89.95. As I had another $5 in credit (points built up from prior orders) I ordered one more crate of wine, to bring my collection closer to filling my wine racks. I had already let it go down a bit before the pandemic, and then in the first few months, I didn't feel I could afford to order more, but still continued to consume what I had on hand, so the rack was looking pretty bare by the time I felt solvent enough to buy more, and they have had some really good specials during the last month or so that I have been taking advantage of.

I know. First world issues and not anything that anyone really needs to worry about, but I feel I will be back to having a better selection now when deciding what wine to drink on the nights I choose to drink wine. And, first world problem or not, that's one less minor anxiety in the current anxiety cake, so I'll take it. LOL

Might do a bit of laundry today, but tomorrow is more likely.

    Hi Ed,
Looks like I was MIA yesterday. Sorry about that. House prep continues, noisy bunch. Yesterday...went to gym, then straight to Sherwin Williams, middle of a rain storm! Got my paint selected, and a sample. I like the color, though it appears to be a 'tad' more light blue than a tad light green...but all good. They have caulked the joints, and windows, etc. its amazing. I am sure we will feel the difference, especially in the winter when its windy!! Should cut down on the 'drafty-ness'.
So, today, I will again hit the gym, and after that I 'dunno'. Nothing urgent that I can think of, and I have one of those vegan veggie lovers pizza for dinner so no sweat there! I have a nice piece of leftover ripe tomato which will transform itself into a super tomato sandwich!!

You did good to get out in these humid mornings. So far I'm in line to meet my Apple Watch mandated monthly goal!! And I hope there will be an avatar. I know there was one for the challenge earlier this month.

I can't wait for this house to be painted! I am so 'sick and tired' of gray! Its been the same color for over 20 years!

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! I got my walk in early and have been sipping my tea for a while now. The cats are whining for food but it's not quite time and they will just have to wait.

    Definitely laundry today.

    Good Morning Ed
Glad you got your walk in! When Tom E. and I stuck our heads out into the back yard it was very nice!
I also wished I had my phone with me, as Tom E. did a magic trick. He walked up to the fence, after sniffing around for a minute and then he walked right thru that fence into the side yard!! It would have made a great video. Maybe next time? LOL!!

2 more days til I find out if my regular exercise, and calorie reduction has 'paid off'. A girl can hope and dream, right?

Today is cleaning day, so this will be short. I want to get my coffee in before I start this routine.

Good luck with not only getting your laundry washed, but dried and FOLDED too!! LOL! I'm not judging, just happy to know I'm not the only one...and speaking of which..I noticed the dark clothes basket is piling up...so guess I'll join you in the laundry!

Howdy all y'all. It's sumptuous Sunday! Got my walk in this morning despite the sticky, slightly mist (dusty?) atmosphere after last night's storms. I felt like a damp washcloth all over by the time I got home.

Our power (and many others) was out for about 5 hours yesterday, but finally came on to give us light to eat our late dinner of Domino's pizza by.

Not what I had planned for dinner, but it was far enough away to have power. Dinner was late, just a bit after 9:00.

Today, assuming no more power issues, that laundry I had intended to do yesterday.

    Hi Ed,
I see a couple more vid's that I want to watch...but, IF I do that it will no longer be morning! :)
Definitely will check out the Tofu Ribs...that sounds like it needs an ear of corn and a slice of watermelon, and maybe some pasta salad, or just a green salad? Today I finish up the rice and beans, so tomorrow could bring some tofu ribs, maybe???

Wow, no power for 5 hours is a long time in the summer! I think the laundry will forgive you for not getting its bath!

Shutters had to be taken down when the house painting began, and the question now, it do I buy new ones that are already white?, do I repaint the old ones white?, or maybe just not put the shutters back on the windows? I'm ok with either of the first ideas...Ted favors the 'no shutter' look. Says, and I've paid attention and he's right, that the homes that look similar to mine are shutterless. Somehow that looks 'unfinished' to me?!?!?! I think I am going to really like the house color (whew!) its not quite as green as I expected, more pastel blue-ish. But, sure not going to redo the paint over a bit of color. It's pretty, and cheerful, and not depressing gray!!! And it fits into the other houses...except for the you know...the shutters. LOL!

I'm getting a nice amount of grape tomatoes...not to many, and not quite enough to be an issues. I'm a bit concerned about the other tomato...it is setting a LOT of small 'orbs', and now I wonder if it is one that is a determinate tomato? I hope not. I don't need/want a basket of tomatoes all at the same time!!! I had looked at the tag thingy when I bought it, and it didn't say either determinate or indeterminate so how was I to know???? I thin it may be too late to plant another tomato, and then there is the...sun issue. Shutters and tomatoes...such awful issues....LOL!

Watch says I need to get up...and the laundry is needy, so...

Fortunately, the power went out during the deluge, which brought very pleasant temperatures. J and I manually opened the garage door, set up camp chairs in there, and sat there enjoying mother nature, reading our electronic books, and (in my case) having some of the wine that I had intended to have with the eye of round roast that got rescheduled for my Sunday dinner. But worry not, as I have more wine for today.

I finished off that bottle waiting for the pizza we finally ordered, once we determined which of our pizza places might have power, as the outage was pretty widespread.

The first one we tried was right on the edge of the outage and we couldn't tell for sure, from the outage map, whether it was inside the dead zone or outside but the website/app would not let me check out so we figured they were in the zone with us. Most of the nearby restaurants we might have ordered other food from were in the dead zone too. So we looked again and I figured our Domino's was outside and might have power. And they did, so we managed to not have to eat cold beans and crackers for dinner.

I imagine if the tomatoes end up all ripening at once that your neighbor and/or Jack's family would eat some.

Well this will be the easiest 5 day challenge EVER. If there were an option to bypass this silly challenge and just roll on the the next one, I would, but I have to respond each day to this one before I get a different one.

The app I use to automatically record and keep track of my blood glucose receives my readings as soon as I use their glucose monitor to take a reading, several times a day.

But, there are also automated 5 day challenges. The one that was presented to me today was to increase water intake by replacing one sugary drink each day with water.

I have been diabetic for over 10 years. I don't drink sugary drinks, ever.

In one sense then, I CAN'T meet this challenge, as I have nothing to replace, and I really don't even want sugary drinks, and haven't wanted them in years.

But in another sense I automatically meet it. I guess I will ponder drinking a (made with real sugar!) Mountain Dew every day, for 5 days, and then "decide" to have water instead. Then I can log it as having "replaced" a sugary drink with water.

I guess I could speak to one of the available coaches and point out that this challenge is probably ridiculous to a lot of us "old hand" diabetics, but I can see where it could help someone new at this rollercoaster if they haven't managed to give up all their sugary drinks yet.
