    Good Morning Ed.
It looks to me like I will make my monthly challenge, AND have Tues. off! YAY!! Its a good thing that it was a calorie burning challenge, as I didn't even think to look at it until it was several days into the challenge! AND, Wednesday will be a new challenge...I will be sure to being it on Wednesday!!!!

It 'LOOKS' really inviting outside...75 degrees says Dark Sky, and then I checked the humidity..I'll take a bar of soap and have a shower while I'm out..95% . That's almost drinkable!
None the less, the sun shining thru the leaves and a slight breeze is pretty to look at!

Laundry check, breakfast..in progress, so that leaves gym, and food survey so I know what to add to my basket tomorrow at the grocery! What a busy, busy day!! LOL!

Hope you're enjoying your walk and whatever is on your list today!

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! It was a bit sticky out, but the breeze was nice and the temperature decent.

Today will be the first day I need to "replace" a sugary drink (that I never drink anyway) with water, so I must remember to ponder Mountain Dew, and then decide that water would be better.

I need to fold the laundry in the dryer. Maybe...

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! A bit sticky out there again but that's normal for this time of year. I got my walk in, breakfast eaten, dishwasher loaded and running, and that laundry in the dryer is still waiting patiently to be folded and put away. It's just towels and such so no real hurry.

    Today's wine delivery.

I do have room for one more crate plus one bottle, but unless my wine club has another really crazy sale I think I am pretty well stocked now, having bought three big crates over the past two months or so.

Howdy all y'all. It's wonderful Wednesday! A bit sticky out, and they are calling for rain later. I may try to get out in a bit and pick a few blueberries.

    Hey Ed
Just a quick hi. Watched the first video...at first I thought that poor old lady was squatting. Very pleased when I could see little glimpses of a foot stool!! Can't wait to see the other 2 video's, but first I'm heading for the gym. Want in and out before the threatening rain.

Not much new here anyhow. I don't believe the guys will be able to paint today...not stressed. I know my Antonio, and that it will get done/finished, on a weather permitting basis.

Ted saw a box turtle a few days ago, outside the fence...yesterday he saw the said box turtle Inside the back yard. (Still pondering how in the devil he got in), so my dear son decides to feed it. I'm thinking the Turtle now thinks June 30 is 'Turtle Thanksgiving Day'...Ted took him some orange slices, and I contributed (sacrificed) one of my little tomatoes. Ted laughed, said turtle went right after the tomato, and then ate the orange. So he came in and got something else, and that time I contributed a small chunk of apple...well...this turtle does NOT like apple! LOL!
A while later, the turtle was trying to find the 'exit', so Ted being the person he is, opened the gate and said he headed right for the gate and was out! Headed in the general direction of the front of the house.....if he finds my tomatoes, and eat snacks on them I'll be hard pressed not to bop Ted over the head! Can't bop the turtle...he just retreats into his hard shell house when he sees you coming toward him.
Now, if this is the best I can do for 'Covid Fun and Excitement', I think I may be about to suffer cabin fever! Oh, and congrats on 'thinking Dew' for your challenge!! Great idea!
My new challenge for the month is to 'Close all 3 rings 20 times this month'. So unless Some unforeseen trap/accident/etc happens..I should be able to manage that fairly easily. Good. I could use an easy challenge!!

If that box tortoise finds your tomatoes, you can kiss the ones it can reach goodbye. They have a nasty habit of taking ONE BIG BITE from each tomato they can reach and then moving on to the next. We had all sorts of problems with them in the unfenced garden when I as growing up. When we caught one, we would re-home it far enough away that we hoped it would not find its way back.

Well, I made it to and from the market and, being early on a weekday, it wasn't crowded at all. I haven't been in MONTHS because it used to always be a madhouse in there, packed with people, long lines, and impossible to social distance. Most people were wearing masks, though a few vendors and staff doing heavy work had their noses out.

I could understand that, as I don't wear a mask at all when doing my exercise walk, but just stay away from any people I encounter.

I got what I needed and got out and on the way home. I am glad it wasn't as busy as I feared, as I didn't like staying away so long. I went because there are a few things that I seem to ONLY be able to get there, and one of those items had reached the critical point, as in maybe ONE use left in the last container. I bought two, so they should last a while as we only use a tablespoon or two at a time.

Produce prices seemed to be especially high, so I didn't buy much along there.

Maybe I will actually fold those items in the dryer. Or maybe they will stay there until I actually need to dry some more clothes! LOL.

    Hi Ed!
You've left me giggling, (though it was probably not your intent). I did finally get those towels out of the dryer, and folded, and put away last night! (knowing I would be in need of the dryer either today or tomorrow!)

Vegetable prices have gone up quite a bit at Publix for sure. (quality has not gone up, for sure)

Other than my trip to the gym, and gathering trash for the curb tonite....Not much going on around here!

Howdy all y'all. It's fabulous Friday! Warm and a bit sticky out there when I was walking, but it's nice here in front of the fan now with my hot tea. Breakfast is done, the clean dishes put away from the dishwasher, and the breakfast dishes are in there waiting for enough friends to make it worthwhile to run the next load.

Today. Today I will fold the things in the dryer.

Howdy all y'all. It's satisfying Saturday! Happy Fourth of July! I think I may have heard some distant fireworks last night, but I had a fan blowing for white noise. I expect there will be more neighborhood fireworks tonight.

The cats graciously let me sleep in until almost 6:30 and I decided to take the day off from walking. My Fitbit thinks I have my 5 days of exercise for the week and I am not about to disillusion it and tell it that the swimming it thinks I did was actually picking blueberries. Picking blueberries IS very mild exercise, but not on par with swimming.

I had savory French toasted grilled cheese for breakfast, with sausage links. That was quite tasty.

Later I need to get the potato salad and deviled eggs made, and the broccoli casserole. The barbecue for me is heat and eat burnt ends and pieces in sauce, but I also need to dry fry or bake some tofu to get a bit of a crust on it and make some of my not quite face meltingly hot barbecue sauce so J can have barbecued tofu.

I think there is a can of corn in the cabinet too. J likes that on holidays. Just corn, nothing fancy at all done with it, and OFF the cob, and canned corn is actually the preference, though frozen will do in a pinch. I will also make a small dish of vegetarian baked beans.

And I have a small pan of grilled vegetables I can heat up and a small dish of zesty au gratin potatoes to heat up. That will have plenty of vegetarian options, several with a high protein component, so J can pick and choose. I expect a small sampling of everything vegetarian will be the end plate there.

While we are eating, I can have my cherry blueberry crumble baking in the oven and we can each have a small serving, with ice cream, for a red, white, and blue dessert.

And I might actually really fold and put away the laundry in the dryer.

    Final Fourth of July dinner:

    pq8e73n1i30q.png

Home made honey sriracha barbecued tofu for J, next to broccoli cheese casserole, me trying to get close to J's uncle's recipe for the casserole. I got pretty close.

    odjqpstqh42h.png

Home made potato salad and deviled eggs. Grilled squash and onions. The grilled veggies were OK, but pretty pricy for such a small pan of them. Won't be buying that again.

    3n2yxpfj2rg5.png

    Home made slow baked beans.

    xuupke9421zl.png

Burnt ends and pieces in a slightly spicy sauce, prepackaged from Kroger. This was quite nice and I may well buy it again.

    a7x5ajz4paqh.png

    My dinner, as served.

    3b0f7plxzdd7.png

Wine, of course, a nice Malbec.

    vh5qfpcr6pyf.png

Mostly home made cherry blueberry crumble. The cherry part underneath is a can of cherry pie filling. The blueberry part came from our blueberry bushes, and I made the crumble topping. We will eat some of it later with vanilla ice cream.

Howdy all y'all. It's revenge of the fifth!

If it's what I consider a "food holiday" then we usually celebrate it with food. Normally, we might have had a guest or two to help eat it, but not in current times. I had enough food for guests, and there was that can of corn and the zesty au gratin potato casserole on standby, but both can wait for another meal.

I got really close to the right recipe on the broccoli casserole. Considering that J's uncle M gave a very vague "recipe" I felt really proud of myself. I think uncle M cooks without recipes, as I do, so I really didn't have too much trouble filling in the gaps, after asking J a few questions about the appearance of the finished product.

I have never tasted uncle M's casserole, but M's mother (J's maternal grandmother) was a great cook and I remember especially that she used to make great stuffed eggs. We couldn't call them deviled eggs in her house. She was married to a preacher.

J's other grandmother provided the potato salad recipe. I never met her as she passed on many years ago, before I met J, but her potato salad lives on. It's very simple and doesn't take long to make. I would want to sometimes add mustard, but she didn't and J doesn't care much for mustard. I sometimes stir some into my serving.

I used way too many cracker crumbs, but J said that the casserole tasted right, though it was a bit dryer than uncle M's casserole. I will get it closer, and maybe nail it next time.

The crumble is to die for, or, in my case, being diabetic, perhaps to die from. The cherry pie filling and blueberries paired really well, and that sweet, crisp, crumble topping (1 part packed brown sugar, 1 part butter, softened or melted, 2 parts flour mixed until a somewhat damp sand texture, then crumbled over the fruit filling) would be great on any fruit. We each had a small serving later yesterday afternoon, warmed, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I don't need to make that crumble often. I guess we'll be eating it at least today and tomorrow to finish it off.

I need to get to the regular grocery store soon. Maybe tomorrow instead of a walk.

    Good Morning Ed,
All caught up with reading...much to still watch. Before I forget, again, I wanted to tell you that I am enjoying the old woman cooking out doors with very simple foods and equipment. When she's done it always looks delicious! I always pictured her as being the old grandmother. Then I saw the pix of the 'other' elderly, really frail looking woman sitting with her wraps and a tray with a cup of 'tea'?, or coffee, or could even be a hot herbal tea...so, guess the cooking woman is maybe not the old granny. I've only watched one video, and I think that will be first on my to-do list today.
There was another item on my list that I did even before I had coffee made this morning. Yesterday, Antonio finished the painting. He just had some quick touch ups to do and he painted the front door. So I wrote him a check which considering the time, the work done, his 2 paid helpers, etc...was a small price. He asked for even less than what I paid him, but I couldn't in good consciousness take advantage of him being a former neighbor, friend, and my 'go to' guy when something breaks around here! We sorta had words around here, not angry words, just words of 'fairness', I want to be able to sleep well, etc. words. Ok,....so I wrote a check. What I forgot to do was TRANSFER that amount from savings to checking. That was the first thing I thought when I woke this morning!!! You know the feeling...you wake and this 'thought' zips thru your brain and shocks your entire body....

Fireworks here has been going on sporadically for a few days, and I expected last night to be hell, but you know it really wasn't that bad. (you have a fan for white noise...I just take out my hearing aids!!!) Neither the cat nor the dog hyperventilated, whined, or glued themselves to their appropriate owners! I was able to get to bed pretty much at my usual time, and I think Ted did as well. I don't know that it helped Maya any, but Tom E. has taken up staying as of yesterday, in her room. So we have my bedroom, Ted's bedroom, and a 'pet' bedroom, as I assume Tom E will be staying in there. Will sure make pet hair cleaning much easier.

Ok, before your eyes cross I need to end this!

Brunch this morning, as breakfast was skipped, (save the necessary banana)... Not even sure what brunch may be. Toast ?, will have beans of some sort, and a bit of store bought fresh Mild Salsa...I may even stretch my self and have something green!!!! Whoa!
My 4th meals were pretty usual, I did have a lot of good red watermelon. No corn on the cob as I forgot to buy any last Tuesday, and desert free. (a piece of bed time chocolate though :) )

Howdy all y'all. It's marvelous Monday! I have been to Kroger AND Publix. Kroger didn't have any paper towels. I still need to get to PetSmart for cat supplies. I will probably head out in just a moment when I finish this mug of tea.

I managed to get to PetSmart, buy stuff for the cats, and back home before the rain started so I call that a win!

I won't need canned cat food now until next month and I am sure I am OK on kitty litter, and possibly on dry cat food.

As I have been having trouble getting the kind of kibble the younger females eat, because my PetSmart seems to always be out lately, I have been ordering that online anyway. I may need more of that one before the month is out, but can wait a bit before ordering more.

I am sure I have plenty of Lilo's prescription kibble and Orion's different prescription kibble.

    Hey Ed.
I just finished my lunch...and still not satisfied. Not a good sign.
Do Not let me watch the Video about Brigadeiros...Fudge Truffles..OMG! I have to know how good they are!!

Sprinkles here this morning. Glad I watered yesterday.

Tomorrow is my shopping day...though I doubt I'll shop Publix AND Kroger. Though I should. You never know. If I take a few minutes with my running grocery list I could work it out so I went both places. Maybe...

House painting is complete! And not as expensive as I had anticipated. I actually paid him more than he asked. No, I haven't won the lottery. But I know good work when I see it, and he bought the Sherwin Williams expensive paint that I wanted...etc.

    Ok, my time's up.

Howdy all y'all. It's terrific Tuesday! No walk today. It was beyond sticky out there, with not quite a drizzle, but definitely precipitation. I don't have windshield wipers on my glasses and think I would have shortly been walking blind if I had tried. While I was out there checking the weather, I did see someone braving the mist across the street to walk, and I didn't see any dog with them so I guess they were actually exercise walking in the mist.

I am expecting a crate of 18 bottles of wine today, which will just about fill up my wine storage. If it arrives in time, I need to get to the vet to pick up Lilo's next bag of lactated ringer fluid for the next ten treatments.

And, weather permitting, I would love to check out the new Lidl grocery that has opened not far from our Trader Joe's, as it is another European discount grocery that has migrated and is a growing chain. They claim that 80% of their product is their own branded stuff, but that they carry more name brands too, depending on the deals they can get, and that they are larger physical stores than Aldi and most Trader Joe's stores are. They are definitely here to compete with Aldi and Trader Joe's. They can't really match the convenience of an Aldi about half a mile from our house, but may become a welcome new option for us.

    Hey Ed,
I think the humidity is at least 120%..you're right, not rain or even mist...but wet none the less.

I only went to Publix. There are a couple of things I'd 'like' to have from Kroger...and since they are open early every morning it should not be a problem.

Picked up one of the Kiss Cantaloupe's..the Althena's are about done for the year. And as I recall they are super sweet. :) Also picked up some of the Rainier Cherries while I was at Publix.
Got some greens, a sub roll to make my own veggie one, and that was about it.

Off now to 'collect' those 2 lost hours sleep from this morning..

Have a good, and dry day! Hope your wine arrives so you can get the cat's food!
