Morning everyone. Thinking about my late mother today, and my grandmothers. Three fantastic women that I'm glad I had a chance to know.

Maryanne--I think this day is an opportunity for many of us to remember our late mothers and grandmothers who live on in us, not only because of genetic contributions but because of their caring and influence as we developed and grew into adulthood. The last day my mother was able to spend with me was a Mother's Day; the next day she went into the hospital never to return home.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms in our group. I see Jean introduced herself with more details and I'll do the same. I was a librarian and I retired 4 years ago. We split our time between Cape Cod and Florida. We just finished up the winter there and we're slowly driving back home while visiting family along the way. We have no children but had 2 spoiled cats in the family. One recently passed away. My avatar is her photo. Both cats were 17 years old and part of our family for 16 years. Both were rescue kitties. My remaining cat is in excellent health and the vet has told us she'll probably make it to 20+ years. I hope so. It will be very strange returning home and not finding Cagney there to greet us.

watch a lot of HGTV and we've been putting some of that info to use renovating the FL house. Lucky that we enjoy DIY projects because it's taking forever. I also love to read. I haven't gotten into E Books but I do a lot of audios in the car and read print books at home.

Helene--Our fur babies are our children. You will have great memories of Cagney, and hopefully your remaining cat will provide years more of companionship.

I went to the city today and took in the new Avengers movie. Sometimes, I just like a little escapism. I thought about eating out but didn't as I knew the restaurants would be crowded....and the lines I saw waiting were very long.

Happy Mothers Day to all, whether your children have two legs or four!

I'll introduce myself as well. I am a retired Licensed Professional Counselor living in water-logged North Texas near D/FW airport. I spend a lot of my time reading, playing on my iPad, cooking and baking for DH and my friends, and I volunteer at my local library once a week. I hope to begin volunteering at another place soon, but I need to attend an orientation first, scheduled for a week from Thursday. I'll tell y'all more about that after the orientation. I also spend a lot of time with a fantastic group of women that I met through the gym where I used to work out. We call ourselves a book club, but mostly we read wine labels if the truth were told about our "meetings", lol!

Tomorrow DH and I are driving up to Northeastern Oklahoma to visit friends. From there the four of us are going to Branson, Missouri to take in a couple of shows and explore the area. From our friends' home it is about a two hour drive and it is reported to be a very pretty route, so I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully the storms won't follow us there.

And speaking of storms, we've had a lot of rain with thunderstorms, lots of lightning, hail, and tornadoes in the general area, but fortunately, nothing but heavy rain in our immediate area. I believe the drought is finally broken. The lakes are full again after several years of being far below normal.

I may not have much time to post over the next few days, but I'll try to at least check in when I can.

Pam--I am also a retired LPC. You do enjoy your volunteer activities. Enjoy your drive to Oklahoma and then Branson, Missouri. I've never been to Branson so that might be an option in the future. I took in Nashville last Summer and was surprised at how much I enjoyed the Grand Ole Opry...and I'm not a big country music fan.

I overslept by about 15 minutes, so I'm running late but took time to have my Quaker Weight Control oatmeal breakfast. I do have to break the fast in which the body hasn't been fueled appropriately.

Helene, the only problem I had in joining was that the confirmation email that was sent went to my spam folder so I had to search for it before I could retrieve the activation code and complete the process of joining the site.
I ended up registering as a new person so I used Helene610 just like here. I guess new site/new name can work.
I was clearing out some of my old NS post and as Pam suggested, I had originally used a different user name. There is was, buried in an old message I'd sent to a friend. Not only had I forgotten the name, I'd totally forgotten I'd had another name, I'd forgotten what it was and I don't think I would have recalled it before the cows came home. Another friend started calling me MA_BookBabe because I was a librarian and I live in MA. I liked it so I kept it. I registered on the Refugee site as a new person because I got frustrated with the user name error. Now I wonder if that name in the message would have worked. I'm using the same name here and there so it was probably a good thing anyway.

Have a great trip. I hope you have nothing but sun shone. The sun finally came out today which is a big relief since we have an outdoor graduation party for my brother tonight. We had the reamins of the tropical storm all weekend so I was glad to see it left overnight. I posted a final goodbye message on our old thread and managed to get my last click for my $10 coupon. I thought I'd be stick on 49 clicks but I guess tomorrow is the day they shut off the lights over there.

I went to work today and when I came home I discovered the boards were still up. I'm at the point where this is now "home." I have 3 groups here so it is so easy to navigate here without the twirlies, the double posts, etc. Right now, I'm short 9 clicks of getting another $10 coupon. I'm also registered at the "Refugee" site but I frequent the groups here more.

Helene-I do hope the graduation party goes well. The timing was great to avoid the tropical storm.

This is from a Linda Spangle email. It features info on a no-cost teleconference summit on weight loss, etc.:Information on the presenters and how the summit works are contained below:

Great idea: Join this no-cost telesummit

If you’ve tried everything, but are still struggling with
losing weight or maintaining, here’s a chance to try out
some new ideas that might provide exactly the solution you
    need.

Sign up for the “Right Mind, Right Weight” No-Cost
Telesummit where I’ll be one of the presenters.

My talk will be about how to overcome emotional eating
patterns as well as let go of your angst about the scale and
    weighing yourself.

Sponsored by my colleague, health coach Lisa Goldberg, this
online event begins May 26th and will feature a wide range
of “experts” sharing their best insights and advice about
    successful weight management.

The list of presenters includes nutritionists, weight loss
authors, life coaches, psychologists and hypnotherapists.
The most exciting part of the telesummit is that most of the
interviews will be video taped, so you can actually see the
    person speaking.

To sign up for this no-cost event, you simply provide your
name and email address. Go ahead and sign up now by clicking
    this link:

    http://www.rightmindrightweight.com/lspangle

In case you’re not familiar with this type of event, here’s
    how a telesummit works.

    1. Once you sign up for the event, you’ll have access to a
page that describes all of the experts in detail along with
website links and a listing of the special gift each
    presenter is offering to attendees.

    2. Beginning May 26th, you’ll receive a daily email about
the experts who are presenting that day along with a link to
    their video interview.

    3. All of the interviews are taped and the recordings will
always be available for 72 hours after the live
    presentation.

So don’t worry if you are busy or unavailable at the time of
the presentations. You can simply watch them later. If you
aren’t interested in all of the topics, you can just choose
to watch the ones that fit for you.

    4. Each presenter will be offering a special gift, such as
downloadable materials or other programs. To access the
gift, you’ll simply click on a link to that presenter’s gift
    page.

    5. The goal of a telesummit is to help you learn about many
experts in the field of weight loss, and find the best
resources and input for your specific needs.

Here’s the link again to sign up:

"Be Prepared," was something I learned early as a Girl Scout in my tender years. When I'm out and about, I'm always prepared. I keep NS bars or NS friendly food bars in my purse, and acceptable snack bar for those times you are running later than expected, etc. It saves on the decision-making and cost of going through a fast food place....or the cost of snacks at a movie. I looked at the price of snacks and drinks when I went to a movie this past weekend. No way would I pay those prices! There are healthier and less expensive substitutes that you can pack in your bag.

NS boards are now read only.

I bit the bullet, weighed myself this morning and updated my ticker. Time to get serious (again). Seven weeks left in this quarter. Let's see if I can lose 7 pounds! My mini challenge!

I think I've got all the "bad" stuff out of the house.

When I was cleaning out the freezer I discovered I have a bunch of expired Smart Ones breakfasts so I think I'll have those for breakfast for the next week or two. I don't have any salad stuff here right now so I pulled a JC soup for lunch. NS entree and steamed vegetables for dinner. Then salty & sweet snacks in the evening. Think I'll ease back in gently. Start slow the first few days and hold off on the heavy duty spreadsheet type attack for a bit until I just plain get used to less food again. (Or as used to it as I ever get.)

Once I get to the grocery store I can restock the salad stuff and other lo cal stuff.

I surely don't need entrees; have tons of stuff here. Just the "extras".

I just switched to A la carte from the original NS autoship plan, whatever it's called, and a little anxious about my ability to "flex" my daily intake, especially when I tend to snack at night. Hope I'm getting those incidents out of my system--they are getting less and less satisfying and a little more realization in the moment that it's not only damaging but not necessary. You're right that logging all the food helps stay on track, and maybe now that the NS boards are frozen in time I can get that motivation to move on. The new BBB should arrive today, hope that provides renewed commitment from my wavering.

Keeping those snacks in purse and car is a great strategy for those emergency times. I need a strong box to put them in though--my dog sniffs out even mints in my purse and consumes them in a flash. ;-)

lmorris--Flexing snacks and desserts is not that difficult. There are many options out there which have more protein for fewer calories than the NS items. Diet Direct has a great variety of Wonderslim products. If there is anything good that has come out of the NS closure of the boards is a desire on the part of many to renew themselves, etc.

Maryanne--You do so well when you focus upon your plan, I see you accomplishing the 7 pound loss. I try not to buy more frozen stuff than what I can use up. I have organized the NS shelf-stable items by "use by" date.

I've been debating trying to maintain until all this medical stuff is over in June. I'm sure I will love the hospital day for the projected 3 days and nights I'll be in the hospital for the cardiac ablation. I could jumpstart a weight loss again by doing that stupid cleanse I have to do whenever I have a cysto. I have one of those in late June or July.

Good morning! I'm off to work. Starting the day with Quaker Weight Control oatmeal with blueberries, water and coffee.

I managed to get another Daily Dose click in this morning. At least that part of NS site is still working.

I actually stuck to my food plan yesterday. Day 1....

I'm hoping that I can actually work on some non work stuff this weekend. Except for work there's nothing in my life that isn't WAY behind.

I have 3 friends with birthdays next week so I need to get some birthday cards ready (yes, I still do actual cards).

Yesterday I stopped the world to count the spring newsletter out into boxes for volunteers to pick up. I lucked out and was able to get an appointment for Jack on Friday. I can drop off the newsletter and get his rabies vaccinations updated. I need to get him to Virginia to the internist but wanted to make sure his rabies is up-to-date first. He was at the regular vet fairly recently but they weren't willing to do the rabies as it wasn't close enough to be due. I don't think he'd bite anyone but better safe than sorry!

That's funny about your dog. I admit that my cats have never gotten into my NS food. The protein servings, OTOH, different story!

I'm a major evening snacker. I think everyone has to come up with their own solution. I've never been on auto delivery and I confess that being "100% on NS's plan" has never been my goal. I keep struggling to come up with a plan I can live with and be 100% on that.

My evening snacking is exacerbated by our meal schedule. Because of DH's strange work schedule we eat dinner at 4 pm. I, OTOH, have a normal business day. In other words I'm not up with the chickens like he is. So my evening after the 4 pm dinner is LONG. I do several things. One is I plan, in my calorie count, two evening snacks - one salty and one sweet. I also always have on hand raw vegetables and SF jello with FF Rediwhip. When all my other food is eaten if I need something else I go with those.

Good luck figuring out your plan!

We're back on the road in a couple of hours. It was great visiting with family and seeing my brother graduate college. He waited until he retired to go back to complete his education. As he was exiting the gym where they held the ceremony, the faculty lined both sides of the exit route and shook hands as the graduates passed. My brother has white hair so one of the older faculty called out "Old guys rules." and my brother responded "and I'm probably the only graduate who doesn't have to start looking for a job.

Helene--Glad you were able to attend your brother's college graduation. It is great that he did that. I've seen in the newspaper or internet where many older people are going back to complete their dreams, etc.

Maryanne--Evening snacking can take many forms. I've just started trying to take Dannon's Light and Fit Greek Yogurt and sticking it in the freezer for an hour to an hour and a half. It then closely resembles frozen custard or ice cream type dessert.

I'm continuing to do the clicks as well. I figure, what the heck...

I had Smart Ones french toast for breakfast. It was expired so I thought it might be stale/tough but it wasn't.

For dinner yesterday and today I had one of my favorites: NS mac n cheese mixed with NS chili and split in half with FF cheddar.

I'm stocked on produced now so I can get back to fresh! Can't wait for the garden to produce tomatoes but that will be a long time yet!!

I discovered I had an NS muffin left so I had it for breakfast, along with Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt an hour later. I'm debating NS for lunch versus Progresso Light soup. The Progresso Light satisfies me more. I'll have an NS entrée for dinner along with all my veggies for the day. For evening snack, I'll throw a Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt into the freezer for an hour or more; it makes great ice cream substitute and higher in protein but lower in calories than the substitutes or the NS dessert items.

I ended up today having an NS entrée for each meal. I had forgotten how many carbs and sodium that would result from that. I have a number I definitely have to watch especially in sodium. Those NS muffins are so good but the Quaker Weight Control oatmeal satisfies more with better numbers. The bottom line is that I don't do 3 NS entrees in one day. This is what I ended up with. The chart has 2300 for sodium but it is supposed to be1800. I guess I'll have to see if that can be changed:
