Hi, I just started keto yesturday. I have been studying it online. I am determined and excited. I have yo yo dieted since my 20's I am now 48. Hoping I can join the group.

Best rule: Do. Not. Cheat.
Give yourself at least 3 weeks before you decide if it's for you. "Keto flu" can be avoided through adequate hydration and proper salt, potassium, & magnesium.

The first few days-weeks can take a lot of will power.. For me its getting to day 4 then I'm good to go.
..as far as helpful tips, I say get some cheap ketostix from any Walmart or pharmacy and check your pee starting the end of day 2 to day 3.. This isn't the most accurate way to test ketone level but it is VERY motivating to go to bed each night knowing your body is burning something other than sugar for a change!
..also you can get a cheap but reliable kitchen scale off Amazon for 11$.. If you don't already weigh your foods, its amazing how much a portion actual is. I use two scales.. One that measures in 0.5g increments up to 10lbs and one that measures in 0.01g increments up to 200g for my butters and nuts.
If you need advice ask for it.. Tons of people here to help.. But cross reference anything that might be important.. (Especially when using the database to log foods as even some barcode items are incorrect)
