I just wish I could figure out how to get 1200 calories and stay within in my carb limit. Currently I am about 35 carbs a day which I guess is not to bad. But, if I could just keep my taste for ice cream and find a great replacement I would love it. Well, its about to be a new week and I am not stopping this journey until I reach 150 lbs. I am currently at 278lb and I am going to keep at it. I do have limitation but its okay I am not giving up. I have to walk with a cane but I am planning to start water aerobic tomorrow if I can get that exercise in once or twice a week and watch carb and calories it will be great. Next what is Keto , I keep seeing it but I do not know what it is.
I know it might sound crazy, but if you can just cold turkey break the habit altogether, you might stop having the cravings completely.
Ice cream was not my weakness, candy was, and I decided to cut it completely one day and go a full month without it before I started the keto life. That month was tough, but I wanted to do it that way so I knew how hard I worked to kick that habit. I figured it would help me to not break down later.
But seriously, I NEVER had cravings for candy after the first 2 weeks of finally going low carb (20g or less). And even before that I felt they were lessening.
Maybe that's all you need to say goodbye to ice cream too. ??
Oh and I was going to say that when I have my dark chocolate whey protein with coconut almond milk, I shake it with ice in the cup and it seriously takes like a thin milk shake to me. I love that my sensitivity to sweetness has gotten me to where a 3g carb protein shake is a delicious treat!
I was a serious ice cream hound. Serious. I would have 4 or 5 half gallons in the freezer all of the time. I would have ice cream any time of the day or night, even breakfast. Often more than once a day.
I haven't had ice cream since some time before May 11. I have ice cream in the freezer that I haven't touched.
As a sort of substitute, I have fruit with Ready Whip on it. But not too often.

First picture represents my starting weight: 190 lbs 5 ft 4 in tall:
I spent two years doing off and on keto. I like alcohol and carbs so I do take maintenance breaks every few months and hover within a 5 lb range.
These represent my before and after pictures for Stronglifts 5x5 . The before picture is me at my maintenance weight (130). Only exercise at that time was 3 40 min. brisk walks per week. After photos represent 3 Stronglifts per week and 2 30 min brisk walks. I actually weigh 145 in my after photos:

I haven't posted a photo in this thread yet? Don't want more duplicates. I have two or three different before/after pairs already on here. So, here's a different set. Both outdoor activities and both at opposing sides of the dietary spectrum.
From crunchy-granola vegetarian (almost vegan) to blood-thirst bacon-eating carnivore.
Neither of these pictures are very recent and the vegetarian one isn't even me at my heaviest. The carnivore one isn't me at my lowest either. But, at the time of that canoe trip, I was an honest to Jebus vegetarian. I remember packing my own vegetarian food for the trip, just in case. I remember seeing this photo and being so disgusted with how I looked. I was grateful that things like facebook and social media weren't big at the time.0 -
Wow, FIT_Goat, you look amazing!0

Great pics @FIT_Goat and mizzougal11! Your progress is an inspiration.0

@FIT_Goat - You've come such a long way, it's remarkable. You look so much happier and you're positively glowing in the after pic.0

Here is the change I just realized in my face. The after photo is yesterday after I got my hair cut, I didn't have to use the face contour tool to make it look better lol

I'm so proud of everyone! I wish I had before and during pictures. I haven't even taken measurements! Sometimes I feel like I'm down more pounds than I am going down in pant sizes. I've finally squeezed into a few size 8s. I'm still sort of embarrassed by my reflection though.0

Face contour tool? I don't even know what that is, but I love this amazing change. You just look brighter and happier. You should resize the pictures to the same size (the distance between your eyes and length of nose should be the same) and really see the whammy of size difference!

I don't know how to do that the before pic I had to zoom in on cuz I was in the background. I hate that pic, I can't believe how awful I looked.
Lol my phone has an option for editing that narrows your jaw line and slims out your face.
Eta: I don't think I could stand to look at that photo any larger0 -
Finally getting torso smooth.
It has been so long. It almost seems like someone else.
It has been a very long journey to no love handles...
Low carb has been the key for me on dropping those tough tummy pounds.

The pictures on the left are from 5/6/14. Pictures on the right are from 7/6/15. From 258.2 to 244.2 (as of 6/18). So 14 months, 14 pounds...ironically. I tried to resize as best I could. Anyone else find this crazy? I was not low carb the first 9 months, but the last 5 months, I've been low carb....

Way to go, Knit. Keep up the great work x0

@KnitOrMiss : I actually noticed the updated profile pic a while back and meant to say something then. I remember the original profile pic, and you just look SO much better in the new one! Look at how smooth and happy your face is!
There are some really great transformations in here. I had a few "before" pictures taken last October and can't wait to get some updated "after" pictures taken the next time I have somebody here to take them for me. ^_^

Wow! Isn't it shocking how much of a difference in body composition we can have by getting healthy?!?!?0 -

I know. This is why I am adamant that the scale is not the high holy sacred artifact that many people cling to. Progress does not have to be defined numerically.

Knit! That's a wonderful change! You're doing great!!0

Arete--That's unbelievable! You look so much healthier, like a different person. Bet you feel like it, too.0

Thank you! It is a huge difference. I am more capable, happier, and boy do I ever feel better. I probably had 20lbs of water retention or more in that first photo, and my hands and feet were so swollen. So much better now, and getting better all the time! And I still have well over a hundred pounds to lose! I am not going to recognise myself when it's all said and done!0 -
Great jobs on the transformations !!!0

I love this thread! Everyone looks amazing! Great inspiration!0

Aside from feeling better with this WOE, I am so inspired and motivated!! Thank you everyone for sharing. I have some before pictures from just over a year ago, but then I gained almost another 20.... I hope to have some after shots to share in the near future.0
