    New marathon PR Saturday..2:43:26

Still crashed a little in the miles 21-26, but not near as bad as I have in the past.
Wow, your crashing is still pretty amazing. I'd love to be able to run a half at that pace. Also, assuming you were running Mississippi Blues, congrats on the win! That is a tough course -- I did the half there a couple years ago.

Thanks Dave. That time was on the Blues. I feel like I could have broken 2:40 on a flat course and better temperatures, but I was happy with that effort on that day.

What was your positive split? About 2:00? That's pretty standard fair in the marathon. I wouldn't call it a crash at all. Some have the philosophy of making up time at the beginning and running a small positive split. Just say that was your plan all along. :)
  • Ha, great advice there. I think my first half was around 1:19:50 so probably closer to 1:23ish on the second half.

Still, right there in the ballpark. Nice work. Must be a pretty awesome feeling to break the tape in a marathon.

Yea, felt really good, especially in your hometown race. Like I said, I just wish the course was flat so I didn't have to travel to New Orleans to see if I can break 2:40.

Good going, I've never tried running 2 days in a row.

New years day I ran my first sub 30 min 5k, slow compared with some but I was pleased with my self, hopefully I can do it again this Saturday.
Next 10k is booked for 9th Feb won't be breaking my pb of 63: 21 because it's a very hilly course, the challenge for me is to run the whole course.

Finished the Snowman 10k on Saturday. It was my slowest 10k, but the worst conditions I have ran in. 12F, 18mph winds, wind chill around -5F. Most of the course was icy roads with about 3" of new snow on top, some of it unplowed. I was actually a bit overdressed and ended up running without gloves after the first mile. I don't know why my hands will be so warm while the rest of me is cold! Next 10k is the Ice Cube in 3 weeks on the same course.

Wow! Great job finishing! That actually sounds like it could be fun in a sadistic way though.

Hypothermic Half-Marathon last Sunday. -36°C, loose snow covered path. My goal time was 2:30 came in (including a pit stop - something that hasn't been necessary in warm weather) at 2:32 which put me firmly in the middle of the pack.

Great job Brian! I can't imagine running in conditions like that!

Surf City Half Marathon in Huntington Beach, California - New PR 2:14:54. Not as fast as others, but this is the second race that I've run without an asthma attack. I teared up a bit on the last mile when I realized I was going to make my goal of a sub 2:15:00 half. Next goal: sub 2:10:00.

    sportsmans duathlon Co. Louth.

My first ever duathlon! Everyone was very professional looking, but great really friendly. The first run and cycle were fine but I really struggled on the second run, my legs were like jelly it felt like an epidural wearing off!

So have to work on my transitions before the second round in 3 weeks.

10k PR on Saturday! 1:09:33, over 2 minutes faster than my previous best (in 2008) and more than 15 minutes faster than a 10k on the same couse 3 weeks ago. The weather was cold (4F), but no wind and very little snow and ice on the course.

Austin Half Marathon on Sunday. 1:55:56. I was originally shooting for sub 2 hour and the week before went ahead and changed it to 1:57. It was REALLY humid after having been so cold for all my long runs for the past three months. The humidity really kicked my *kitten*. But I'm absolutely thrilled with how I did.

Did the Ft. Eustis 10K on March 1st.

Goal was 60-70 mins with a great possibility of coming in at 65 mins.

I came in at 1:04 almost dead on prediction!
