I got diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome yesterday... symptoms started about a week ago and progressed so rapidly that when I woke up Monday morning I was terrified that I had had a stroke as my whole right arm my numb. Doc said it's quite common during pregnancy, so now I have to wear a lovely splint during the night and as much as I can tolerate during the day. :s

@VeryKatie thank you! I'm hoping talking with my doctor and a blood test with her help make it sink it. Right now I'm just assuming all of the tests were wrong and I'm not actually pregnant..? Like I'll get to the appt and they'll be mad I wasted their time hahah

@mebelfanti I tested every 2 or 3 days about 6 times lol!!! I bought a doppler yesterday and that helped me feel a little more pregnant. But still feeling either not pregnant or like I'll be pregnant forever.

@mebelfanti Congrats! That's awesome. That stinks about the nausea, maybe herbal tea might help? Green tea with ginger is definitely a thing and might be less "red flag morning sickness" than saltines would be.

@mebelfanti congrats on your pregnancy! I took a test every single day until I was about 6ish weeks I think. It gave me a lot of peace of mind, but I didn’t really feel optimistic until the first ultrasound. Now I’m at 8.5 weeks or so and I go back and forth between thinking I’m pregnant and thinking I can’t be pregnant. But I remind myself that the chances of a missed miscarriage are like 1% overall so in most cases there would be bleeding if we lost our pregnancies!

    @mebelfanti Congratulations!!!!

Didn't realized I missed an entire page of replies...oops.

@girlalmighty08 That would be a scary thing to wake up to. I didn't know that carpel tunnel was common during pregnancy. How far along are you now? (if you don't mind me asking.)

Thanks everyone for your replies! We had a good appointment with Dr and everything was fine. We go back in about a month for our first ultrasound. I found this website that's literally called "miscarriage odds reassurer" where you put in your height, weight, and how many weeks you are and it tells you the odds of a miscarriage but in a reassuring way. Some people might find it scary but I'm a numbers person so it helps.

How is everyone doing? I’m rounding the bend of the first trimester so I want to start being active here to make sure I don’t get out of control now that I’m out of survival mode.

We had our NT scan yesterday (13+1) and it was amazing to see the baby so clearly. I mean we saw its brain and its heart and everything. Just bonkers! Based on a couple different views we got, the ultrasound tech said she’d be SHOCKED if it’s not a boy. I’m so happy because I always pictured myself as a boy mom (after I stopped picturing myself as my baby anyway haha). DH didn’t seem over the moon about a boy until a few hours later but he said he had been offsetting his desire for a boy by thinking it’s a girl and building his hope there so he wasn’t a typical male hahaha.

Other than that things have been pretty uneventful here. My nausea has been fairly mild but was all day for a while so I would just have to eat something right away to make it go away. I haven’t thrown up any. I was constipated for a few weeks but that seems to be improving the past few days, probably because I’m moving on from only eating convenience foods haha. My job is currently dogsitting so walks are keeping me somewhat active. I’ve gained 3 pounds but I feel much fatter/more bloated. I need to start getting more intentional workouts so my body stays strong.

I’ve been feeling really isolated and lonely and hope that publicly announcing alleviates some of those feelings. Since we’re new to this town and I’ve been fleeting pretty antisocial it’s been really hard for me to make friends. It doesn’t help that my job is solo. We did join a Unitarian Universalist church that’s literally next door so I’m trying to be moderately involved there without overwhelming myself. We joined the choir which is really fun and I’m slowly getting to know people in it. Most of the people are older but that’s okay.

Sorry for the long update. I miss you guys!

It's great to get an update from you @pezhed. I'm glad you are moving out of survival mode and staying active. That's so exciting you had the NT scan! Sorry you are feeling lonely and isolated. I hope you can make some friends at church!

I was randomly thinking about pregnancy exercise yesterday and things I would recommend to friends that I failed to do myself and regretted (sorry if you have already heard or thought of these): squats for third trimester and post-partum lifting movements (this is especially critical if you have a c-section because you can't just bend over to pick up the baby), and hip and pelvic opening and flexibility stretches for third trimester and labor/delivery (a friend suggested pigeon pose in particular but there are lots of prenatal yoga poses/videos online).

I found the babybumps subreddit to be a huge source of valuable information, venting, and laughs while pregnant. That of course won't replace real-life friends but it might be a nice distraction at least.

Thanks for the recommendations and the reply @puffbrat! I hadn't heard of those. I'll make sure to integrate some of those into my workout plans! I have been on some subreddits and fortunately my month-specific sub has an associated Discord chat so that has definitely been nice. I just wish there were more locals to hang out with but I'll get there eventually, hopefully.

@Pezhed I'm sorry you're feeling isolated too! I hope you're able to connect with some people at your church before baby comes. Its great it's right next door. I was (and am) a bit bummed about how isolating having a baby can be. Thank goodness there's at least a baby to spend time with! I hope you meet people soon! What about some book clubs or fitness clubs? Is there a running or riding club you could join for a bit to meet people? I wish there were "drinking coffee" clubs. So if you were 13+1 on Sept 10, does that make your due date around March 17?

    ...

So, my husband and I have an agreement that we are telling everyone we didn't find out the gender. We have people on both sides we don't want to deal with telling because we expect them to lose their *kitten* if they know, and especially on his side (his mom couldn't keep her mouth shut about the pregnancy and completely ruined it for me - she told Chris's brother, sister, and their partners and most likely the extended family too. I do not understand why people need to ruin this for others. You get so few chances to announce such exciting news in your life, but she felt the need to steal this from us even though she had her chance to announce her own pregnancies).

BUT. But. We actually did find out the gender and I feel totally fine telling all of you! We are having a little girl this time around :) We are so happy to be blessed with one of each (I would have been happy no matter what of course!). I'm glad we decided to find out because I was 102% sure babe was a boy hahaha. Now I can get my head on straight. Plus I was having trouble focusing on being pregnant this time because I'm focused on Keith and return to work.

I should have known it was a girl though, since I couldn't think of any girl names this time. Isn't that how it always goes. Right now on our list I think we have Tina, Faith, and Amber.. though there are a few I like such as Lena as well that I want to get Chris on board with lol. I'm still struggling with names because I really would rather a 1 or 2 syllable name, not a 3 syllable name. 3 syllables feels too complicated hahaha.

@WifiresGettingFit I think Vanessa was on my list last time! But I now associate all the names previously discussed with options that were only for Keith lol. So we scrapped them all.

@WifiresGettingFit I should be 25 weeks on Saturday I believe! Over the halfway hump.

I found out yesterday my midwife and HR approved me for stress leave so I'll be leaving work in November and staying off work till my mat leave starts. So if I decide to go back (which I probably wont) then I wont need to see my boss till July 2020!! I'm pumped. Hes on vacation right now and has no idea I'm leaving 2 months earlier than anticipated...

@VeryKatie Im sure it doesnt feel this way for you but I feel like your pregnancy is flying by! Haha So nothing came from going to HR about his inappropriate behavior? I'm glad your stress leave was approved at least.

@WifiresGettingFit I had the discussion with my boss, then we had 1 day and I went on vacation. When I came back he was on vacation. And he will be back Nov. 6 (my last day is now Nov. 2). Because I made an informal complaint, HR said there isn't any follow up. But they keep a record so if they receive another formal OR informal complaint, it would be escalated. Because of when I'm leaving I will probably not find out anything unless my coworker vents to me at some point about him being crazy or if he phones me after I'm on leave. I'm sure he will be going around and divulging my situation without permission while I'm gone though.

To be honest, I'm feeling guilty about needing stress leave. I have to work hard on telling myself I need to take care of myself and to not worry about other people's judgement or thoughts and just do what I need to do. I feel like I'm gaming the system except I'm NOT surviving well on 4 hours of sleep a night (and that little sleep is linked to a 5 times greater chance of needing a c-section and having preterm birth). And I'm not performing at work - they're getting poor concentration from me so I may as well not be charging the time to projects.

I always (well these 2 times) feel the first half of the pregnancy goes fast. I think it's because people generally keep it secret for 12 to 14 weeks. So it wasn't "real" until week 15 in my case. The second half takes a long time... the last month being the longest feeling.

    @pezhed how are you doing?

@VeryKatie I agree with @WifiresGettingFit that it seems like your pregnancy is going really fast. That's so exciting you are having a girl!

Needing to go on leave for stress is terrible but I'm proud of you for doing it! You should not feel guilty. This level of stress is unhealthy for you and your baby, and as you stated, also makes you not nearly as productive an employee.

@VeryKatie From the sounds of it, it seems like it getting escalated is pretty likely then.

I agree with everything Jessica said, there's no reason to feel guilty you are doing what is best for you and your baby girl. I know telling someone not to feel a certain way is easier said than done but you really do have to advocate for yourself and your family and that's what you're doing.

I've heard that the last 4-6 weeks feels like 9 months haha so I'm not surprised you said that.

@Puffbrat it does seem to be flying by. I'm too busy feeling to focus much on it I think. I'm excited for having a girl too :)

@WifiresGettingFit Doubtful, no one else is willing to report any bad behaviour. I hoping he will have the sense not to contact me on stress leave. We will see what happens though! Our mat leave specialist was nice though, she was instantly like "Oh your boss is on vacation? You have NO obligation to tell him you're leaving by the way". I really like her.

Hi ladies.... I’ve been lurking in this group for ages, but never actually posted I don’t think.... have been reading through all of the comments, seems like a very exciting time for many!
We’ve been TTC for a little over 4 years now, had a m/c in 2016, and have just started a fertility treatment programme- I’ve been working hard on losing weight to help with the process, and am down a little over 60 pds now (nearly 30kg). Dr is very happy and I’m about to start on Letrozole (Femara).

Had blood tests yesterday and Dr will call me with the results this afternoon. If my hormone levels are right, I can start my first round tomorrow.

Hubby and I are very excited... trying not to be, but we just want to conceive so badly...

Please cross your fingers/ pray for us!!!

@VeryKatie well that sucks and hopefully he doesn't contact you. I'm glad you like the maternity leave specialist. I think it helps make those situations easier. Novrmber 2nd will be here before you know it!

@Leannep2201 I'm glad you decided to post! I'm wishing you all the luck with the fertility treatments and baby dancing!!! I have a friend who did IVF. They didnt get pregnant from it, but got pregnant naturally the cycle right after. She says it was the best money she ever spent because she is sure it resolved whatever was going on (their infertility was unexplained).

@WifiresGettingFit 3 weeks today! Kinda crazy!

Very Katie.... I can’t wait to be where you are, with only a few weeks to wait. I saw the photos of your son in earlier posts, gosh he’s gorgeous!
Got my blood test results, dr said I’m in the wrong part of my cycle because I’ve ovulated (Whaaaaaat???? I NEVER ovulate naturally!!!) and on the first day of my period I can start the Letrozole- he said it should be in the next week, but if I haven’t got it in two weeks to call again and we will repeat the blood tests- my periods are known to be very irregular.

Been spotting the last couple of days, so I’m hoping it arrives so I can start my Letrozole!

I'm having an issue. I've fallen in love with a name for the baby and I feel like my brain is just going "yup, that's the name. Done." meanwhile I haven't even talked to my husband about it hahaha. Tina Gabrielle Harris sounds so nice though :)

@WifiresGettingFit the name was approved as an option lol. We are trying to think of 2 more combos to go to the hospital with.
