Maryanne--I live 50+ miles from the border, so it is easy to go out of state for me. I had read that the test usually took around an hour. Lucky me spent two hours. One part was administered by a technician. When that was completed, the neurologist was called to complete it. I don't do well lying on my back so today I am hurting from that. Some parts of the test smarted but not for long. I don't have the full details as I will get all the combined test results and implications next Friday, but I was told that I had a problem in the L4 area.

Jean - hopefully they can give you some relief!

It's been rainy here for days. I can't wait for some sunshine and a nice day so I can get the feeding areas at the colonies cleaned up.

Today I go for a hair appointment. That will be a nice break. Time when I can't do anything but read. I'm currently on book 2 of Iris Johansen's latest Eve Duncan trilogy. I was almost tempted to just read book 3 as I'm not sure much happens in book 2 but my OCD kicked in. LOL! Just finished Karin Slaughter's Pretty Girls in the car. That is one SUPER dark book. Even Karin Slaughter fans should be forewarned. On my kindle I have some Halloween short stories ready for October.

My work load has really picked up so I'll be busy in October I think. That's good news as my billable time has been at an all time low the last couple months which means my income has been down. With two sick cats and the colonies I don't need that.

I'm glad your business is picking up. It must be hard to be self employed with an uncertain workload. It sounds like you have feast or famine. We've had that gloomy, rainy weather for most of the week. We need the rain but I'm ready for some sun, The town does a big Oktoberfest every year. It's just one day. It was supposed to be today with tomorrow as a rain date. They canceled the whole thing because of the forecast. It was a good call as we've had downpours on and off all day.

Jean..Are the doctors over the state line considered in your network? What were they looking for iin the test? I hope they can come up with a treatment for you to fix the problem.

Pam..How is your ankle doing today? I hope the pain has eased. What's the recovery time for the procedure you had?

I'm not doing much today. The town was offering free shredding today. I managed to pull together a full box. I just got home from dropping it off. I'm sure I have more files to go through but this is all I could get ready. Our financial advisor has switched companies several times so I had all those old statements from companies we're not with anymore. The time consuming part was going through them to black out names and SS numbers/. We shred small stuff at home but the amount was more than I wanted to do with my little shredder.

I'm doing fairly well at this point. My pain is very slight most of the time now, though when I put weight on it I definitely feel it. I'm keeping that to a minimum for now by using my knee scooter. I was able to take a shower and we changed the dressing this morning, so that was an accomplishment, lol! Currently, my lower back issues are causing me more pain than my ankle, but that is an unrelated problem. I had back pain every time I turned over in bed last night, and today it hurts every time I have to get up or down. I'm using a Thermacare wrap on it to see if that will help. In the past, they've relieved the pain quite well for me.

I get tired of shredding stuff. I'm paperless almost everywhere but they still send me paper! No statements - those are paperless - but everything else under the sun. We have a decent size shredder so that's not a problem - I guess I just resent it.

I was thinking the other day about all the wonders we've lived through. Probably triggered by all the articles about the Millenials vs Gen X version of Survivor. Will kids today have the same level of wonder at anything that we had at the first - fax, calculator, color television, movie watched at home, personal computer, etc. I'm sure I can't even imagine what will be invented in the next 50 years.

Maryanne--Today's kids take technical wonders for granted and often consider expensive technical gadgets as "throw-aways" to be replaced when the slightest update to them occurs. We all know technology is practically outdated by the time a few weeks or months have passed.

Helene--I have a Humana Medicare Advantage Plan so I have no problems going out of state as long as the provider acceptsHumana Medicare. On the other hand, those who are still working under the State insurance can no longer cross the border to excellent facilities. It was a convenience of selection but currently employed no longer have that choice as of this year.

Pam--I am glad that your ankle is not causing you major pain, but sorry that the back is creating problems for you. Heat is a good solution for me also when my back aches.

It just really dawned upon me that we have entered the final quarter of the year. Sometime today, I will start the final quarter of the year thread.
