Went cold turkey years ago. At that time there were no "aids" and besides I don't need no (insert appropriate word here) aids!! It was easier than losing weight!! and did not gain an ounce while doing so, although probably pulled a few fillings out with the gum, but that's another story.
Listen here, you are "super" being one I recognized it right away, and you can and will do this.3 -

I quit cigarettes, cold turkey, in 2010 (August 26th to be exact, lol!)! Three years later the cravings got to me, really bad! I began using e cigs instead of picking up the cigarettes, and have continued vaping with zero nicotine "juice". Crutch? Sure! But it's kept me from picking up the cigarettes again, so that's a win in my book! Also, the doctors consider me to be a non smoker. Imo, whatever it takes to stay away from cigarettes is what works!
Congratulations on you commitment to your health! You can do this!
Wanted to add a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on your recovery from opiates too! You ROCK!4 -
I hope you're still doing well! Stay strong my friend. We are all rooting for you.2

Thank you , ladies!!! Today is day three, so I'm still doing it, and I'm keeping the mindset that it's not so bad... And it's really not, as long as I occupy myself. I can't tell if there's more hunger, because I love food.
I had a momentary snap last night, after leaving Walmart.... My patch fell off in the shower and I didn't want to waste one for only a couple of hours. I also didn't bring a lozenge or gum.... And I hadnt eaten for eight hours. So of course we jump in Big Red and Bob immediately fires up a smoke.... And immediately goes to burger King.... So at this point I'm chewing my inner cheeks off and sparks are flying.... But I made it home, and ate real food... And had a lozenge..... It was not that bad, considering Bob is still alive.12 -
I had my last cigarette this past Friday night (9 Sep 16). I had quit a couple weeks previously, but fell off the wagon after a weekend with my chainsmoker friend. I just turned right back around and stopped again. I am also LCHF/Keto... If I have a craving, I just kinda straighten up and make myself feel superior and say "I don't do that anymore". That sentence in particular helps - it's so final. It's not that I "gave something up"... I just don't do it. And I chose this path. I chose to be healthier, live longer, breathe more easily, look better, age slower SMELL BETTER haha. I was never much of a snacker, and the fact that I'm also focusing on this way of eating, and strengthening my body at the same time just helps me see the big picture - I didn't *just* quit smoking, I am building a healthier me ALL OVER - I am NEW AND IMPROVED Every. Single. Day.
Feel free to add me, and message me if you ever need a reminder that YOU DON'T DO THAT ANYMORE!!
And my very best wishes to you!! You got this!!!9 -
OH, PS: I do hit my vape every once in a while, at night if I notice I'm being cranky, or if I just feel like it. I don't vape all day, I don't need it... but sometimes I just like it. I'm thinking about looking into that therapeutic essential oil thing (Monq), but eh, don't wanna trade one habit for another... we'll see.3

Thank you, K! It's been quite a journey, let me say. My biggest trigger for relapse?? Weight gain. Not this time. This time I said no way, let's do this the right way. And here I am, dropping those lbs and dropping bad habits along with them. I appreciate your motivating me.1 -

You go!2 -
You can do this. Sometimes you might have to do it one minute at a time, but the cravings pass and get less and less as the days and weeks go by, and before you know it you've been a non-smoker for twenty years and your lungs are awesome!3
-
And as time goes by, it becomes a Bigger Deal to light up, as in NFW.
Many small victories to celebrate!3 -
Keep on truckin'4

Hey thank you all so much for your ongoing support and motivation!!!! Despite all of my fears, it's day six, and I'm down a pound and a quarter!!!! Things are looking bright for me.....8
