05/12 - 209.60 (OMAD Day 46) *0g Carbs* NEW LOW! I am so thankful for the overnight loss. Seems this reduced calorie (1,100) intake is working like a charm. I will repeat this again today (last frozen bag of steak) and then on Saturday I will do my 48 hour fast.

My energy level is very consistent through out the day but I will say by the time it reaches 9:30 I am ready to hit the sack. The point is there is never a time during the day where I have LOW ENERGY just steady flow. I know with previous programs there would come a time where I felt weak and uninspired. With OMAD every morning feels like Christmas and more often than not things work out really well.

I feel like I have finally broke through the 210 bar and should not (fingers crossed) ever see that number again. I flirted with it before but quickly snapped back into reality. This time however it was more of a methodical approach to the number and now I feel like I own it. ha ha!
Fun Fact: I have now registered RED on the Ketonix meter for 36 days in a row! (I really refer to this as the cheat meter as there is no way you can eat carbs or sugars of any kind and even think about registering red)

05/13 - 208.80 (OMAD Day 47) *0g Carbs* NEW LOW! I'm digging that huge overnight loss. I am so appreciative that my effort is paying off each and every day. I did not do anything different from the previous days so I can't really explain it. Just chalk another one off to the mystery of the human body. So today is my scheduled 48 hour fast (already 17 hours into it) and definitely feel like I can pull it off. I did hesitate a bit when I saw how much I lost overnight but it is the plan I set forth from the beginning of the week so I think I will stick to it. Also with Mother's Day tomorrow I might have a bigger meal this might act as a nice buffer to that. It is all about planning in this phase. You just have to be prepared for whatever might pop up and have at least a plan B and even C ready for when you need it.

I chatted with my son at length about intermittent fasting yesterday. He is 18 (into fitness) and totally gets it. He has already set up a 16/8 type of routine and says this will be part of his life forever. So happy for him as I wish I knew then what I know now. All the gyrations they put us through with misinformation on LOW FAT and the need for all these servings of GRAINS and FRUITS. It really is a shame BUT lucky for him he has his entire life ahead of him to apply the this wonderful way of life. So grateful for that!

05/14 - 207.60 (OMAD Day 48) *0g Carbs* 48 HOUR FAST NEW LOW! I'm amazed at the results today. Every time I think I have things figured out I realize I don't. Usually I only see about .60 to .80 overnight loss as a result of my 48 hour fast (well technically I am weighing in at around the 40 hour mark) but this time a full 1.2 lbs. I will take that all day long. This is now the 3rd week in a row that I managed to fit in one 48 hour fast. I really really like it and it is not difficult at all. I will definitely continue that for the foreseeable future. I had debated doing one every 3-4 days but I see no need at this time as my weight loss is progressing at a good pace.

I will break my fast at the Mother Day celebration. Happy Mother's Day to all your mothers out there. We are having Chicken Marseillaise with broccoli and kale salad with raisins. I should be able to pull a keto friendly plate for about 1,200 calories out of that, so long as I avoid the banana pudding, Oh my that stuff as I recall is unbelievable. Having not consumed sugars of any kind really for nearly 50 days I am sure that would put me in a comma and flip my red light to green for sure. Just writing all that out tells me it is not worth it and I really have no desire to mess up the good thing I have going now.

05/15 - 208.00 (OMAD Day 49) *57g Carbs* I ticked up every so slightly after my Mother's Day meal. I honestly thought this came in a little light on the calories but as you can see it was quite a bit heavier on the carbs than I usually eat. I seem to do much better the closer I stay to zero carbs. I will really try to do that a majority of my week. The good news is I was able to stay strong and stay away from the banana pudding. The cheat meter blaring red proves that to be true. At 57g of carbs I even wondered if that would be enough to flip me out of ketosis, evidently not.

So on to this week where I will look to keep my carbs close to zero and my calories under 1,200 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday my daughter is graduating so we will all be going out to dinner. Saturday I will tentatively plan for my FAST day followed by a nice Sunday break of the fast. Living life intentionally!

That's not really much of a gain with those extra carbs...Good luck the rest of the week :)

05/16 - 209.20 (OMAD Day 50) *3g Carbs* I guess these unexplained spikes up are going to continue to sprinkle themselves in from time to time. By logging this over the past 50 days I have the advantage of historical data to show me that this is just part of the process and how best to get things back on track. In the past simply by going back to 6 oz of steak, 4 eggs and a tin of sardines seem to do the trick. I bought supplies yesterday so I will apply that today. Not much else to say just need to keep the grind alive.

I would agree but then things like today happen. Oh well just part of the process I guess and to be expected when weighing every day as I do.

05/17 - 210.00 (OMAD Day 51) *5g Carbs* Yesterday was just a case of too much food. I made the mistake of cooking my steaks to replenish my frozen supply at a time I was eating. Therefore I ended up at around 1,500 calories on the day. Hard to believe that just this amount can cause such a jump but this is the way my body has been for quite some time. Well this changes things up a bit as far as my plan for the week. I will go ahead and put in a mid-week 48 hour fast. I had thought about doing this anyway and this seals the deal on that decision. The good news is I am still in ketosis, keeping my carbs ultra low and I know I am burning fat internally as I am seeing changes in how I look. Anyway, back to the grind and the never ending tweaks on this OMAD journey.

05/18 - 207.80 (OMAD Day 52) *0g Carbs* 48 HOUR FAST As it turned out this week I ended up going with a FAST after 3 days of eating. I had toyed with that idea before but fell into it almost out of necessity to get myself back on track. As you can see it did the trick. I take from this that I should go ahead and just count on adding that into my schedule. I think too that this will set me up nicely as way forward once I get into maintenance. So after every 3 days eating I will follow that up with a scheduled fast and just keep the cycle going. This fast was so very easy I honestly can't believe I'm saying that.

My health has gotten exponentially better since I cut sugar and carbohydrates in general out of my life. All the inflammation I had in my knee is gone. All the skin rashes and patches I had are gone. All the numbness and tingling in my hands and feet are gone. Best of all, the up and down roller coaster rides of energy are gone. Just a steady state of being. I absolutely love it!

Your report on a weight gain for 1500 calories really, really surprises me. It wouldn't surprise me if I were the subject. But a guy?? Wow, our bodies, metabolism in general, still full of surprises.

I've read it takes 3-5 g of water to support a gram of glycogen storage so If we go high carb, we will store more water. I've only done low carb once for a week and I lost 4-lbs but gained about 3 of it back the next week when I ate carbs.

05/19 - 207.20 (OMAD Day 53) *6g Carbs* NEW LOW! Thankful for the overnight loss. Sorry about the plate picture I dove into my Waffle House steak and eggs before I realized I forgot to take a picture of it. What is not pictured is a full (10) oz of T-Bone, (4) scrambled eggs with (2) slices of cheese and grilled onions and mushrooms for a total of 1,282 calories.

This is a nice lose a day after a fast. While everyone was eating tacos and drinking beer at around 11:00PM last night I was happily drinking my club soda. I was not even hungry and what I came to realize last night is that I like the way I feel with an empty stomach going to bed than a full stomach. It was a little strange in a social setting but I was able to work around it and it was not too awkward. Tonight is another social setting where we are going out to a sushi bar. The good news is I love sashimi and I will gladly participate in this event. My OMAD window will be closer to the back end and even extended to around 6:00PM.

05/20 - 208.80 (OMAD Day 54) *45g Carbs* Hopefully the last celebration dinner for awhile. I kept it fairly keto passing up on some really tasty looking deserts but clearly too many calories. The beauty of this way of life is in the recovery from a less than ideal day. In other programs I have tried there really is no recovery plan. One "blow up" or splurge left me feeling like a failure. Typically one bad day lead to more until, well you have seen the chart so you know how the story goes. With OMAD and employing intermittent fasting in strategic ways the outcome can be so much different. For instance I had planned on doing a 48 hour fast on Sunday but now that my calorie intake yesterday was equal to nearly 2 days of eating I will pull up my fast for today and eat a normal meal on Sunday.

My picture below does not capture all that I ate yesterday. This restaurant likes to just bring things out as it is ready. You order a bunch of side items and they just bring them to the table in no order. After roughly calculating what all I had in my window (which was pushed to 26 hours) it came to around 1,950 total calories. It was good to be able to participate in this event. I am grateful for that.

05/21 - 206.80 (OMAD Day 55) *0g Carbs* 48 HOUR FAST + NEW LOW! First of all I want to say how appreciative I am for the overnight loss and how thankful I am for being able to find this way of life. Given the amount of calories I consumed the day before at the celebration dinner (almost 2,000), I decided to go ahead and pull my fast up one day to compensate.

I was reluctant to do that initially but then I was listening to a pod cast co-sponsored by Dr. Jason Fung where his assistant was saying for those doing OMAD it is critical that you "shake things up" from time to time in order to keep your body from trying to level set on the reduced calories you are consuming. In fact she suggested just what I am doing now, mix in longer fasts (36hr, 40hr, 48hr and even longer if possible).

The podcast was about fasting not OMAD and they were interviewing people who were doing 6/1 meaning fasting for 6 days and only eating 1 day a week. We are not talking anything that extreme here but still the message was clear, if you want to keep your body guessing and willing to give up that stored fat you better change things up regularly.
