    TRACEY'S BIRTHDAY CHALLENGE

I am challenging myself to follow the original OMAD protocol to see if I can make continuous progress without having to backtrack and have a continuous losing trend until my birthday on September 16. I would really like to get through the 150's during this time, but will be content with whatever number I have because I will have stayed the course and not gotten off track.

I will post my daily weights here (Official weekly weights in bold) and welcome any and all support, advice, encouragement, and tough love if needed.

    18 August - 160.7.......25 August - 157.0
    19 August - 159.4........26 August - 156.1
    20 August - 158.4........27 August - 154.9
    21 August - 158.4........28 August - 154.1
    22 August - 158.0........29 August - 155.1
    23 August - 157.4........30 August -
    24 August - 158.1........31 August -

Those pesky little 155's just couldn't be left out. I will let it hang out today, but tomorrow it is out of here. I am sure my little splurge caused me some water weight.

Another weight hike. I know it is due to the two high carb meals I had in a row that were eaten late in the day. I don't like the spike, but the meals were totally worth it. I will be going back to lower carb meals beginning today to get those numbers going back in the down direction again.

Thank you all so much for your support and encouraging words. The challenge is definitely on.

I think my scale was off on this one. I usually have to get on it 3 or 4 times before it shows the same weight twice. I wasn't looking at the weight this morning and if I had, I would have definitely challenged it. But it is what it is and I am going to post what it said. The pie is all gone now so I shouldn't have anything to keep me off the beaten path. Looking for down weights from here on out.

If you're down .5 tomorrow, you'll have lost 4 pounds in two weeks which is an awesome, aggressive average. Your doing great, Tracey!

I haven't weighed today yet. I will be weighing later when I get home from work. I did a salt water flush early this morning because I have been somewhat constipated and I still felt kind of bloated from all of the water so I am holding off on weighing a bit. I will update with my weight later today.

Again, not sure what happened here. I ate my meal at 1:30 so it wasn't late and I wasn't full or hungry when I went to bed. I did drink my chocolate kale shake around 7:30pm after my 40 minute low impact HIIT workout. I went to bed early and was sure I would see a loss but alas a 1 pound gain.

I did eat rice and bread with my meal. I keep saying I need to cut the carbs, but then I don't because I don't want to restrict because I know that can backfire on a person. So the question is how can I still eat rice and bread and not show a gain the next day?

I have been doing my squats and adding in more strength training so it could be muscle or just water weight from the workouts. I probably just need to get used to the added strength training and continue with it and my body will adjust.

So no adjustments as of today, I will continue with Basic OMAD and my exercises and see what happens.

Oh, even though my weight was up this morning, my bodyfat was down 0.3% and I am still trending down on trendweight so I am encouraged with that and will press on.

If I haven't been lifting and start I will gain for a month or two then it levels off. It could be that, or water storage also. If all else fails, you can count calories although that is a drag I know.

Tracey, I eat carbs everyday, sometimes I am up, other times I'm down. It will balance out by week's end, could also be water retention from all the squats and other workouts as well. If I were truly in a bind with OMAD, like gaining all the time or plateaued, I'd calorie count even though I'd hate it. I'd rather do that than restrict foods though.

I know you have a goal to reach 144 by your birthday, but please don't let it get you down if you do not make it. You have been doing so well. That you're losing is what matters, it matters more than how much you lose on a weekly basis. Slow progress is still progress and will better prepare you for successfully keeping the weight off for good. Hugs sweet lady!

Yes probably just water in your muscles as you're losing fat. I think I read sugar can make you retain water even more than salt. The human body is 60% water so we gotta think flexibly. You're doing everything right so it will work itself out...just the body doing it's thing. Great job! :)

I am so thankful for my 0.2 pound loss today. I was sure I would be up because I had a burger king meal for my OMAD and then later my husband stopped and got some Krispy Kreme donuts and I ate more than one.

Remember a single measurement almost means nothing! You stated, I'm glad for the .2lb loss on one of your days. I bet if you got on your scale 5-times in a row, you will see a .2lb difference in the readings. There is measurement error as I just described and there is fluctuations in body water storage also. It takes multiple readings and some time to determine a trendline through the noise. I think it is great you take daily measurements cause you will see the trends and what is really going on and can make adjustments as necessary. Good luck!

Thanks Bob, You are so right, I can get on my scale 5 times and never get the same measurement. I have resorted to not looking at the scale when I get on it and going with whatever it says (My wifi scale sends my weight to MFP and trendweight) knowing that it can be off a bit. My trendline has been steadily going down and that is what is important.

I do want to get to 144 pounds, but I am going to stop stressing over the time line. I am going to continue to make the best choices I can and let things progress at their own pace. OMAD is my plan of choice and I know by staying the course I will get there. I have my maintenance plan worked out for once I reach my goal and just look forward to a lifetime of health.
