Sounds like a win-win for both of you. How did the cat show go? I assume you had help with the set up and take down.
A lot of people are pitching in to get it done. I'm lucky! I wasn't there yesterday but will be today. I hope we were busy and that we have less to pack up than we unpacked. Maryanne0 -
Maryanne--Love the graphic insight..."Where no man has gone before etc."
I went to the orthopedic in the adjoining state yesterday. I had given up dealing with the pain, so they had a cancellation which I grabbed. When I showed up, the receptionist said that my doctor was ill and another doctor in the practice was subbing for him. I didn't care; I just wanted relief. When I came home, I went to bed at 8pm and slept 11 hours. Blessed relief!!
Today is Day 100 of posting food continually. I work at least 4 days this week.0 -

I can't imagine logging 100 days. I had 40 days when we went on vacation. Not having WiFi a couple of days did me in. I'm on day 2 now and plan to start a new run. Kudos to Jean for getting to 100. Are you enjoying being back to work?0
-
Jean - glad you had pain relief!
Helene - good for you starting to log again.
At some point I'll have to take myself off the injured reserve and start dieting again. I finally weighed this morning. To my amazement I've only gained 2 1/2 pounds during this episode. I thought it would be a LOT more.

Love the Thin Mint meme. I bought one box in FL and made it last 2 months. I somehow had great restraint once I opened it. Maryanne, that's great that you gained so little during recovery. Maybe you did portion control without realizing it. I came home from vacation up 2 pounds. As of today, it's gone. With logging again, I hope to tart downward again. We're taking a friend out to lunch for her birthday today. She's the one who used to care for the cats when we were away. She's like family to us.0

Just got home from a visit to the dermatologist where I got a good report and don’t have to go back for 2 years —Yay! DH also went and had a couple of precancerous spots on the top of his head zapped and he goes back in 1 year.
The dinner party Saturday night was fun, but a very carb heavy meal so my diet took a hit. I didn’t do as good a job as I’d hoped on portion control, so I’m working hard now to get back to my pre-party weight. I probably won’t be there by tomorrow when I see my family practice doctor, but I’m still down a good 14 or more pounds from when I last saw her.
Maryanne, I think you’ve done very well to have only gained 2 pounds while dealing with a broken wrist. Once you feel like exercising again, I’m sure you’ll easily lose them.
Helene, you asked what I decided to make at the beach for dinner. I think I change my mind almost daily about what it will be. I’ve got 2 or 3 different menus in mind, so it will come down to which one I think will be the easiest. Every time I browse Pinterest I come up with a new plan, so apparently I need to stay off that site, lol!
Jean, I know you’re glad to be working again since I know you enjoy being with the kids. In our school district all of the teachers had to report today for a week of in-service training and prepping their classrooms and the kids go back next Monday.0 -

I've been eating a lot, and not great choices. Partly anxiety, partly boredom and partly practicality. I really expected to see a bigger gain.0 -
Love the Thin Mint meme! The odd thing is that I never really cared for them.
Maryanne--Congrats upon what I would call maintaining and not really gaining a lot from not watching carefully what you eat.
I enjoy being back in school but the transition has been challenging. All I want to do is eat.

I'll take your word. I couldn't view it. The message said the link may have expired or access may have been restricted. Was there a cat in it? I could watch cat videos for hours.

School doesn't start here until Sept. 4th0

It was a cat video. I couldn’t figure out a way to post it directly but I hoped the link would work.0

Day four of logging. We took a friend to lunch yesterday to celebrate her birthday. In the spirit of eating healthier, I ordered a Cali Quinoa Bowl with grilled chicken. Here's what was in it. Warm quinoa, topped with fresh baby spinach, grapefruit, oranges, apples, almonds, avocado, bacon, goat cheese, balsamic vinaigrette. It was delicious and I felt I ate something healthy. They had a second quinoa bowl that has mango and pineapple, caramelized onions and veggies. I'll try that one next time.

Pam--The link would have worked if those viewing it were part of the FB "friends" for which it was designated. If the person who originally posted it had earmarked it as "public," we could have seen it.
Helene--It sounds like you are finding healthy options when eating out.
Maryanne--We are required to make sure we complete all legally required days of instruction so we try to get as many in as possible before bad weather or other events that cause school closure. We started at the same time last year and still had to go into June to get all the instructional days in. If it is really horrible, the calendar permits us to go to the last of June. We are in a rural areas with many students transported over secondary roads or back roads that I don't like traveling. Since a certain percentage of students have to be present for it to be called an instructional day, then it becomes a judgement call at 5am at the latest about school as the first students are picked up at 6:30am.
I'm not working today but will the next three days.0 -

DH and I just got home from seeing the latest Mission Impossible movie. It was definitely action packed, but we both agreed it was a so over the top that it wasn’t very believable. Although Tom Cruise is still a handsome man, I think he is starting to show his age.
I had a good trip to the doctor today. She was very pleased with my weight loss and renewed my meds, which was the purpose of my visit. I have to go back in a month for labs, but she wanted me to wait on those to give my blood counts more time to recover from my blood donation last month. After hearing that I passed out afterward, she advised me that I probably should not donate again. I’m in agreement with that, lol!0 -
Pam, sounds like you had a great doctor visit. It;s too bad the doctor said to stop donating blood based on one experience. I think you had extenuating factors like not having eaten before the donation. The doctor could be right but I don't think she had enough information to base her opinion on. But you have to do what you think i best for you.0

Love the look in the dog's eyes. LOL0 -
DH worked in blood banking for years. He told me years ago they have to keep you conscious to donate blood. That would be impossible with me so I've never donated. Now if they'd just take the blood after you fainted, I'd be happy to donate!
My PCP stopped doing TB tests on me after I fainted one time and tied up an exam room. I had to chuckle. You know the only reason they do stuff like that is to get a few extra dollars from the insurance company so I'm sure they were frosted that they had to stop.
When I get blood drawn for tests I go to one particular place where I know they can lay me down. Sometimes if they lay me down, do it fast, and I tell a few jokes, I don't actually pass out but I can't count on it.0 -
I looked at the list of cancelled TV shows.
The only one I'll really miss is Code Black.
Deception - cute but not a big loss
Scorpion - I got tired of - seemed formulaic
Me, Myself & I - really cute - but not a big loss
Wisdom of the Crowd - enjoyed but fell victim to the MeToo movement so okay that it's gone0 -
What new shows are worth a look?
I'll probably at least check out:
The Rookie (love Nathan Fillion)
Murphy Brown (for nostalgia's sake)
FBI
New Amsterdam
A Million Little Things
I think DH might like Manifest but if I DVR that I'll have to watch Bull or The Good Doctor on demand - with commercials. Oh, the dilemma! LOL!0 -

From the commercials, Murphy Brown looks good. I liked the original show. Castle was one of my favorite shows so I'll give The Rookie a try. I've been watching Take Two (summer series). The interplay of the main character reminds me a bit of Castle.0 -

You probably have to be conscious because you have to make a fist, open and close it every 20 seconds or so to pump the blood out. I used to be squeamish about blood draws. I almost passed out getting the blood test for my marriage license. They had to lay me down because all the color drained from my face. I was on the verge of fainting. Now I choose to donate blood. The trick is I'm lying down and the collection bag is below the the table. If I can't see it, it doesn't bother me. If I have a blood test, I turn my head the other way.0 -
I've been watching Take Two also. I read an article that suggested it was wasted on summer but we need something to watch in the summer.0 -
I hope it returns next summer because it' well done. Doing short series during the summer seems to be the trend now. They run about 10-12 episodes. Rarely do you see re-runs anymore except around holiday during the regular season.0
