No loss but no gain the past week.

I've been weighing myself daily for a couple of months. Today I completely forgot to do it o I have no idea how my week went. I had been the same for more than a week then up a bit after the book club luncheon. I don't know whether I'm up, down or the same. I'll find out tomorrow. I had a free Panera breakfast sandwich yesterday. I logged it and at the end of the day was just about at my goal calorie count for the day. When I got up today, I remembered I had them make it on toast instead of the bagel it normally comes with. So I actually had 100-150 fewer calories than I logged. I like bagels but made the swap because I didn't want all those bagel calories.

I'm fascinated by the cat and the ladybug photo. I'd love to see what happened after the photo was taken.

I can believe it. They have selective hearing when they want to ignore you.

I'm off to the city to get hair cut and colored. Wonderful day to do it as we have severe storms forecast for the time I will be there. This has been the Summer that didn't happen; I hope this doesn't mean that Winter will be horrible. Spring was worse than usual and dragged out forever.

We're having a beautiful day. The air is fresh and clear. I need a haircut myself. I'm starting to look a little on the shaggy side. We started decluttering kitchen drawers yesterday. I
ll finish it up today. It's amazing how much junk you can accumulate. Much of it i stuff we'll never use and I can put the storage space to better use.
Jean, enjoy your drive to the city. Are you stopping at Outback while'll your there? I hope you get a taste of summer in August. Our spring was non-existent but we've had lot of hot, humid weather since then. That's part of why today's weather has been a gift to be enjoyed.

I’m getting ready to go for my annual Mammogram and bone density test. I’m having bone density tests yearly now since the broken ankle. It will be interesting to see if there is much improvement now that I’ve had 2 Prolia injections. I’m hoping I can continue on them once I’m on Medicare. From what I’m hearing, I have a good chance since I’ve already been on Fosamax for several years but suffered several breaks anyway. My endocrinologist says that it would be pointless for me to go back on any of those types of medications. Let’s hope Medicare agrees.

I hope you are showing improvement! For your sake and to help with the Medicare argument!

Pam, I would think your doctor is right about you being able to continue on Prolia under medicare. You have documentation of having tried Fosamax and still breaking bones. It sounds like he's willing to do the paperwork to for Medicare that makes your case.
I feel much better now that I have a fresh haircut. It had been 5 weeks and I was starting to feel like a shaggy dog. It's amazing what a difference good and bad hair days have on our outlook.
Maryanne, how did you find driving again? Were you nervous after so long? I have to renew my driver's license this fall. If I want the federal license, I have to bring all kinds of paperwork to prove I'm me. After 2020, you need the federal license to board a plane. I haven't flown in twenty years because DH doesn't like to fly. Actually, the whole idea terrifies him. So we only take trips we can drive to. Since a license is good for five years, I'm thinking about what if I was on my own and needed to fly. We're getting up in years and none of us live forever. I have time to think about it. I suppose I could always replace the new license before it expires if something happens to him.
I should be getting my bone density results any day now. And I have to schedule a mammogram for September. I think that's it for me healthwise for a few months anyway.

I think I'd have been nervous driving if I'd tried it when they first approved me but a month later I was READY.

Having longer hair, I’m able to go 3 months or longer between haircuts. Yet another reason I prefer longer hair, lol! It’s been tough for the past 6 months or so because I cut it short (for me) back in January and immediately regretted it. I’ve been trying to grow it out again from that point forward and it is just now getting to a length that I am happier with. I still want to grow it longer, but I’m getting there. I’m lucky that I don’t get a lot of split ends, so going a long time between cuts isn’t too much of a problem. I can work with it so much better when it’s longer and I am much happier with it, even though most of my friends love it at a shorter length.

I could take the length but not the grey! I think it ages me 10-15 years.

Hair has to be long or short for ease of care. Mid-length hair is the harder length. It' not long enough to put it up in a ponytail. And usually it has to be blown dry each time you wash it. Short hair is wash and wear and very little maintenance. It take five minutes to style short hair after shampooing.

I stopped coloring more than a decade ago because of the maintenance. I need a cut every 4-5 weeks so the color would grow out and get cut off too often. It was too much time and work coloring so often.

I like the way my grey has come in. It' a salt and pepper mix from the mid point of the crown and frames my face. The back of my head is very dark brown with no grey. When it first started to come in grey, I hadn't had time to get it colored. A number of people asked me if I'd gotten highlights. I figured it couldn't look too bad if I was getting compliments.

In those days, my hair was a little longer than Maryanne's in her photo. A couple of years later, I got a short haircut and liked it. As Pam said, growing out short hair takes forever and is less than attractive. I did it once before and it took about a year to grow out. My hairdresser Was able to blend layer so the growing out stage was less obvious. Based on that, I knew I'd have short hair forever this time because I don't have the patience to go through the growing out stages.

Welcome to August. I think for this month that I will basically try to maintain. There is nothing like loose skin that doesn't shrink on older people. A little padding also helps with falls. How is that for rationalization?

Rain, rain, rain! This has been the summer of rain and below normal temps. Flood warnings are out through Friday with rain and storms scheduled for each day. It poured this morning with more storms expected this afternoon.

I'm supposed to go to the city tomorrow for an eye appointment and to get new tires. I also have an Instant Pot and new vacuum to pick up at Kohls. The Instant Pot is a freebie with the 30% off plus another rebate plus Kohls cash. Will I use it?

Jean, by contrast, this summer for us has been extremely hot and dry. In fact, today’s paper had an article stating that we are on track to record our second hottest summer since records have been kept, and one of our driest summers as well.

My niece has an Instant Pot and really likes it. She makes everything from dinner to Greek yogurt in hers. Sounds like you found a really great deal on yours.

I saw another small drop on the scale today. I think since January, I am now down around 14 pounds. I’m now mostly doing low carb and it seems to be working pretty well for me. I think it is easier than calorie counting, but requires more label reading when shopping.

Pam--Sorry about your temps. I was watching the Weather Channel discuss areas having higher than normal temps.

Congrats upon the 14 pounds lost. That is what I have lost. I like low carb but I am in the process of using up NS food I discovered shoved back in the cabinets. Money is money.

I like the reminder about the Ber months. After heat and humidity, September and October will be welcome. Actually, Indian Summer is one of the loveliest times of the year on the Cape. And most of the tourists have departed. I've heard good things about the instant pots. I'm sure you'll enjoy having it.
