We were lucky that the doctor had pleasant, caring people on his staff. Rescheduling would have been a nightmare.
As far as your summer, you only had a handful of summer like days. Do the schools have AC?

Helene--The schools have central heating and air conditioning. A new thing this year is that the schools will serve a light dinner to students before they go home, so that will make 3 meals a day provided to students.

Maryanne--We had identical twins to marry identical twins a few years back. Very rare!

I went to the city today as the weather was great and took in the latest Mission Impossible movie. There is not a slow moment in it and since it is a long movie there was not really a good place to take a break for the bathroom. It deserves the 97% favorable rating given on Rotten Tomatoes and the great reviews there.

I sub this Thursday. The teacher has a specialist appointment that the specialist would not schedule before school started.

I went to the city today and got groceries at WalMart. I only deviated from my list when I saw a great pet bed at a reasonable price and thought Midnight deserved something new. He took to it instantly, so we are both happy campers.

August 8 is International Cat Day. In recognition of that, I offer this little gem:

I worked today and the day went well.

I had another small loss today. I’m now down 15.4 pounds since the first of the year. I’m finding low carb to be pretty easy and I think I’m doing a little better on it than I was on NutriSystem. I’m actually looking forward to seeing my family practice doctor on Tuesday because when I saw her in January she strongly encouraged me to lose 20 pounds. I’m almost there!

I'm back home. We arrived last night. It was a very pleasant visit to the Jersey shore. It was much hotter than I expected. Usually it's a good 10 degrees cooler at the shore but we had a couple of days in the 90s with just the hint of a breeze. It was nice to spend time with her niece and her almost 6 year old daughter. they live in CA and were back visiting her parents. We hadn't seen them in 3 years although we see the rest of the family a couple of time a year.

I was able to check in on my phone but tracking food isn't as easy. Plus I didn't have WiFi the first two days. I'd tracked 40 days but wasn't able to track while I was away. But I'm back on track today.

Pam, I'll bet your doctor will be very pleased with your results.

Pam--Congrats upon your loss. Your doctor will be happy.

Helene--It sounds as if you had a good visit. I'm sure you did well mentally tracking your food.

We got the cat show set up. I did the least physical effort but I'm tired! Definitely out of shape.

Is this show the first you've done since your injury? Have you been able to feed the feral cats or is someone else covering that?

Just logged breakfast. I'm back to my 40 day good habit. It was easier to get back to logging than when I had to make myself do it 2 months ago.

I’m enjoying a lovely, cool, rainy day. In AUGUST, in Texas! That just isn’t normal weather around here, lol! I hope it sticks around for awhile.

Some friends invited us over for dinner tonight. I have no idea what will be on the menu, so I’ll just have to do the best I can with portion control. I know it will be delicious, but probably not low carb or low cal. I’m trying to be proactive by eating as low cal today as I can in preparation for tonight. Hopefully that will help. These friends never allow anyone to bring anything and they are very particular about the wines they like, tending toward more expensive wine than I typically buy, so I always struggle with an appropriate hostess gift when they have us over. I was always taught that you never go to someone’s home for dinner empty handed, so it’s a dilemma for me. I finally decided to bake some mini loaves of snickerdoodle bread and made a honey cinnamon butter mix to go with it. I found a cute tin container on clearance at Michael’s and I had a new tea towel that I placed in the bottom of the tin and tied a bow on the handle. Hopefully they will enjoy the bread for breakfast tomorrow and find a use for the tin and towel. I froze the rest of the bread. It made one large loaf and 4 small ones. DH and I sampled one of the loaves this morning but the rest will probably go to the beach with us.

Pam, what a thoughtful gift. I'll bet the bread is delicious. When do you leave for the beach? What did you decide to do for dinner the first night? You were till deciding last I read. We have a very overcast day hear with short bursts of showers. It's the kind of day the beach will be deserted. The shops, restaurant and movies will be packed. That' the kind of day I stay at home.

    Yes, first one.

I've made the decision not to try feeding until I can lift without weight restrictions. Unless of course something happens to the original caretaker.

The caretaker of these colonies was diagnosed with cancer. I fed 100% for months and months. She offered to take them back full-time when she went into remission but I resisted - both because I figure she needs the rest and so I can keep up with them (knowing one day they'll be totally my responsibility).

Anyway I figure I'm lucky that this happened at a time when she's physically able to feed 100% of the time again, for at least a little while.

Sounds like a win-win for both of you. How did the cat show go? I assume you had help with the set up and take down.
