There are some amazing performances from the Kennedy Center Honors on youtube including Adam Lambert singing Cher (made her cry), Kelly Clarkson singing Reba, and the Hamilton cast performing several numbers.

I'm watching House via Amazon Prime. It has always been one of my favorite series. I had planned to accomplish wonders this week but the reality is that I've been spending the afternoons resting.

I watched the Kennedy Center Honors on Demand last night.I’d forgotten about them until a friend posted on how much she enjoyed them. They were great.

I finally got the nerve to get on the scales this morning. The last time I recorded my weight was in early June. It could be worse but I have gained 13 pounds. The moral is weighing often pays off to avoid the gradual creeping up and taking things for granted.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got on the scale this morning, after being gone for 6 days and eating totally off plan. I think I was actually at or slightly lower than my weight when we left! I really wasn’t expecting that.

I loved House, too. I always told DH that if you saw Dr. House enter your hospital room it was a very bad sign because the patient always came within an inch of dying before he miraculously figured out what was wrong and how to cure it. But I loved his snarkiness and the extremes he would go to in order to get what he wanted. I really loved how the series ended.

I was a House fan as well. I must’ve missed the last episode because I don’t know how it ended. I think some of the same creative team is involved in The Good Doctor.

My niece and I had lunch today at the Outback. I had the tilapia with crabmeat. Afterwards, I went grocery shopping. This evening, I cycled through an episode of House.

    Pam--Congrats with not gaining.

I hopped on the scale again. Now we know this isn't possible but I weighed 1.4 pounds less today. I also did 45 minutes yesterday on the cycle while watching House.

Take what the scale gives you!

I don't remember how it ended either. Guess I might have to do a little watching.

I tried something new. Pure Protein breakfast bars which look small but to my surprise are very filling. 12g of protein, 5g of sugar, 8g of fat and 200 calories. These are handy to keep on hand when having to make a quick exit without time to fix breakfast. They are made with oats, chia seeds, quinoa and flaxseed and is a great source of protein.

Maryanne, that is an amazing story of friendship! She must have been a remarkable woman to inspire that level of devotion from her friends.

Maryanne, maybe you had less sodium the last couple of days. That would give you a loss.
I had an email from MFP congratulating me on logging in 400 days. I may not have been as diligent on logging food or exercising but I did show up every day. I’m counting that as a victory. Now I just have to do better on logging food and doing exercise.

Notes to self re getting blood drawn on 12/31 (I was halfway there before it occurred to me to wonder if they'd even be open today):

    Pro:

    Parking for once a breeze
    Waiting room practically empty

    Con:

B-team is working (and I'm being generous - you should see my arm!)
New year - new system! They were starting to test out a new sign in "kiosk" (boy, I hate those - cardiologist has gotten enough complaints they just ignore it - it sits in a corner but no one uses it)

Helene--Congrats upon logging in that often! 400 days is quite an accomplishment. I was doing well until I quit posting food when I quit losing despite it telling me I should. I did log my food today.

One of my colleagues lost her mom this weekend. What an amazing story of this woman's friends: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/inspired-life/wp/2017/12/07/this-sick-womans-friends-have-kept-their-promise-to-visit-her-every-day-for-21-years-and-counting/?utm_term=.2c69045237fd[/quote
What a special woman. She could have been bitter about her illness yet she managed to have a good quality of life thanks to that special group of friends. Thanks for sharing her story.

Excellent response on twitter to trump's ridiculous (he's working, yeah right), self-pitying new year's message:

Don't you mean - As we head into this new year, I wish everyone health, happiness and prosperity.

As President, I pledge to work across the aisle, do away with the wall, and free the families being held at the border. Happy New Year!

That's what a real leader would have said!

Happy New Year everyone! I'm going to feed the colonies, check the CROM mail box, and then head home to hopefully relax with the cats and maybe do a little more filing (although if I pile the recycling much higher DH may have my heard).
